Hongqi Street Route 54 Cultural Tourism Train
Hongqi Street Route 54 Cultural Tourism Train Hello, friends! While strolling through Changchun in autumn, I decided to travel back in time. I didn't need a movie time machine for this—just one tourist tram, No. 54, in Changchun in autumn was enough. As an avid traveler, I couldn't pass up the chance to ride one of China's last trams, and I'll tell you why. Just imagine, Changchun is one of the few cities where you can still hear that soulful, tinkling sound. The tram system opened back in 1941, and at its peak, it was a true giant. But time, you know, is merciless even to trams. By the 2000s, only "one and a half" routes remained of the entire network. Yes, that's right, that's not a typo—that's "one and a half"! No. 54 and No. 55 are like twin brothers, traveling together for part of the journey and then parting ways. And so, No. 54 has become a true moving legend. My fellow bloggers and journalists and I, after strolling through the unusual shopping mall we'd fallen in love with, "The Hill" (locals succinctly call it "There's a Mountain Here"—brilliant, right?), boarded this retro tram at the Changying Zhan tram stop. And then the surreal experience began. I boarded the tram and found myself in... a museum on wheels. Candelabra, wood trim, tables (oh yes, you've definitely never seen tables on a tram!), a coffee bar, garlands, and old music from the mid-20th century! The tram, which is just short of its centenary and has preserved the spirit of a bygone era, slowly rolled along the tracks laid amidst the autumn foliage—a spectacle of surreal beauty! The tram driver tells the story in Chinese, but that's no problem—we live in the age of technology, so you can turn on the translator. While you're trying to understand what she's saying, they start making coffee. Its divine aroma is the only reminder that we're still in the 21st century. Along with your drink, you'll receive a bag of signature tram snacks, a magnet, and a booklet (again, in Chinese, but the pictures are clear!). And then the tango began. A tango master class for the beautiful Margarita, and we earned a standing ovation from our fellow journalists. Apparently, my legs remember an era I wasn't even born into! The tram makes occasional stops so you can take selfies against the backdrop of ancient buildings. But after an hour, the magic wears off, and you're back to reality, or more precisely, the Wanda Plaza shopping mall. This isn't just a ride from point A to B. It's an immersion in history, the rhythm of which is echoed by the wheels on the rails. If you're in Changchun, be sure to take an hour for this journey. It's worth it! If you decide to repeat the experience, book tickets through travel apps (daytime tickets are 88 yuan, and evening tickets with shows are 118 yuan). Children ride free, but must sit on laps. VISITCHINA RU EDITORIAL COMMENT: Incidentally, other themed routes have recently appeared in Changchun: the "Siberian Tiger Tram," probably more for children, and the new "Red Flag" tram, which tells you about the city's industrial heart—the very same place where China's first automobile factory, modestly named "First Automobile," was born. There's plenty to choose from! #Route54 #Changchun #ТнеHill
Shangri-La Changchun
This trip to Changchun included a stay at the Shangri-La Hotel. The established five-star hotel's calm and attentive service, combined with the relaxed needs of a family trip, completely won us over. Located in the Chongqing Road commercial district, it balances convenient access with a quality experience, acting like a reliable elder, arranging everything perfectly. The "Little Yellow Duck Family Suite" we stayed in included children's bathrobes, slippers, toothbrushes, and toys. The hotel also has a kids' club and play area, creating a fun-filled stay for the children. The room had a wide view and excellent soundproofing, ensuring a good night's sleep for our family of three. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in the hotel lobby. Looking out at the bustling city and crowds, the world seemed to have been gently muted, leaving only the smiles of family. The food here, whether exquisite in the Chinese restaurant or elegant in the Western restaurant, exuded a steadfast warmth. At Shangri-La, quality isn't cold luxury, but a gentle understanding of children's needs. Every staff member was enthusiastic and helpful. A friendly greeting The reassuring feeling of being remembered and well taken care of Is the most precious part of a trip.
Jingyue Lake
🏠 Accommodation: City Comfort Hotel (Changchun Railway Station South Square Branch) - Old, not smart, spacious with plenty of hot water, but small advertisements are stuffed under the door. The high-speed rail station is just across the street (I planned to take the high-speed rail to the airport in the morning, but my flight was rescheduled to the morning). Eating: Xianglixiang buffet lunchboxes - 13 RMB per person, over 20 kinds of Northeastern dishes, including corn porridge, rice, dumplings, and pancakes. Yuanshengju: Ecological Street branch - copper pot clear broth hot pot, recommended must-orders are beef, sauerkraut, frozen tofu, chrysanthemum greens, and shumai (small portions are available). I heard the cattle and sheep are raised on their own farm. The lamb leg was a bit too strong for my taste. A table costs 25 RMB. The dipping sauce includes sesame paste, fermented bean curd, and chive blossoms; other ingredients can be added according to personal preference. A bite of meat followed by a bite of pickled garlic is incredibly satisfying. Yongxing Morning Market: Went around 7 am, caught the sunrise. Fresh milk at the entrance is 3.5 RMB a cup (tastes the same as the fresh milk my mom ordered for me in high school, less sugar and very delicious). Tujia savory pancakes: sold by weight, delicious, crispy crust. Next door The beef pancakes are amazing! Breakfast: The tofu pudding tastes like spicy soup; the pickled cabbage buns and chicken broth buns are huge and only 2 yuan each. Candied hawthorn berries are 5 yuan (sesame seeds are the key ingredient). Fried dough twists: Hot, 3 yuan, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Activities: 1️⃣ Jingyuetan: Entrance fee 30 yuan, 27 yuan if bought online one day in advance; ski pass 68 yuan; 20 yuan for the shuttle bus at the main gate (very warm in winter, unlimited rides, every 10 minutes; if you want to ride a loop, get off at the end and walk 10 minutes to the starting point). Recommended stops: Baxi Station (for photos of the pavilion, a filming location for "The World Is Beautiful"), Black Pine Forest Station (spectacular, tall, and numerous black pines; we even encountered squirrels), Vasa Museum (artificial snow scenery, great for photos, but the carousel is gone), Ice and Snow World Station (still under construction when I went). Three hours is recommended for the visit. The toilets are clean, warm, and have toilet paper. Grilled sausages are 8 yuan for meat and 5 yuan for non-meat items. Instant noodles and hot drinks are also available; you can warm up and eat in the shops. 2️⃣ Changchun Zoo: Night ticket 45 RMB. See animals during the day and Journey to the West at night. Entry time is 4:30 PM, remember to arrive early as there is a queue for ticket checking (keep your ticket, you'll need it when you leave). There is a show schedule on the big screen at the entrance, take a picture. If you like Snow Cake Monkey and Yan Dong, arrive early to get a good spot. If Yan Dong isn't at the entrance, he'll announce it over the loudspeaker. You can arrive early to queue for interactive seats (bring your own jokes, you can take photos and videos). People from Northeast China are tall, so if you stand at the back, you won't be able to see anything (it's recommended to bring a selfie stick). Children riding on adults' heads are definitely not allowed. Be careful, when the Snow Cake Monkey throws gifts, everyone rushes to grab them. During my show, a child fell and got quite badly hurt. 3️⃣ Ice and Snow New World (posted separately) Shopping: Many shopping malls, including Eurasia Pain City, Times Square, Eurasia Shopping Mall, Wanda Plaza, and "Here's a Mountain" (built inside a mall; the low-sugar cakes on the first floor are delicious, they sell Madier ice cream, and the Cat's Sky City is a great photo spot where you can buy Changchun refrigerator magnets). You can also walk to see the 54 Tram and Changchun Film Studio (it gets hot in the mall, remember to wear light clothing inside).

🌨️【A -20°C Ice Slide vs. a 25°C Iron Pot Stew! A 5-Day, 4-Night Intensive Travel Guide to Changchun – Southerners, Book Your Tickets Now!】🌿 (Opening Highlight: Using the temperature contrast to create suspense and pique Southerners' curiosity about Northeast China) Let's start with a thought-provoking question: While our Southern friends are bundled up in down jackets, screaming as they slide down the 512-meter ice slide at the Ice and Snow World, Changchun locals are at home in short sleeves, munching on frozen pears – this is the daily "ice and fire" of Changchun! As a Northeast native recently praised by my Southern best friend for having a "travel guide more thoughtful than my own mother's," today I'm pulling out my secret weapon: an unconventional travel experience! Avoid the crowds and immerse yourself in the history of the Puppet Emperor's Palace, the snow at Jingyuetan, and the vibrant atmosphere of Guilin Road – all packed into this healing journey! 📍【Must-Read Before You Go!】 【Survival Tips for Northeasterners】❄️ ✅ Clothing Formula: Winter = "Onion Layering" (thermal underwear + cashmere sweater + thin down jacket + windproof coat), focus on protecting your ears! I've personally tested that a knitted hat is more effective than a mink coat (don't ask, just know the pain of it being blown away by the wind). ✅ Electronic Device Survival: Keep your phone in your pocket, and use hand warmers on your power bank, otherwise it'll shut down in no time! (Tested and effective while photographing the blue ice at Jingyuetan). ✅ Transportation Deals: Download the "Changchun Citizen APP" for 50% off subway and bus fares, and grab ice and snow consumption vouchers every day at 9 AM (200 RMB off for every 500 RMB spent, enough to buy two tickets to the Ice and Snow World!). ✅ Food Warning: Northeastern cuisine is basically "jumbo-sized"; two people ordering three dishes will leave you stuffed. I recommend ordering half portions of dishes like Guo Bao Rou and Di San Xian! (The auntie at Yinglan Guo Bao Rou will praise you for being smart). 🌟【Locals' Hidden Routes!】 【Rejecting the Checklist-Style Tourism】🚶♀️ 📜 Day 1: The Puppet Emperor's Palace × Changchun Film Studio, A Story of the Other Side of Time - The Puppet Emperor's Palace: Don't just look at Puyi's office! The concrete walls of the underground air-raid shelter still bear bullet marks, and the apricot trees in the West Garden were planted by Wanrong herself (the apricot blossoms in April are incredibly photogenic). Rent an audio guide (20 yuan) to listen to the last emperor's "working diary," and finally take photos riding ponies at the racetrack—the contrast is amazing! - Changchun Film Studio Site Museum: The highlight is the "Film Restoration Workshop"! Remove scratches from a copy of "Visitors on the Iceberg" yourself, creating a 90-minute personalized short film (I got tons of questions about it on social media!). Turn right after exiting and take tram number 54; the retro green tram rattles along, and the shadows of plane trees outside the window make you feel like you've stepped onto the set of "A Chinese Odyssey." - Night Snack Bonus: "Wheel Cakes + Grilled Starch Sausage" at Guilin Road Night Market – a local favorite since childhood! Remember to add chili; the auntie will smile and say, "Little girl, you've got quite the appetite!" 🏔️ Day 2: Jingyuetan × Ice and Snow World – Experience the Romance of Northeast China - Jingyuetan: In the morning, hike through the "Forest Oxygen Bar," check the negative oxygen ion level on the mini-program (over 2000 ions gets you a creative ice cream!). In winter, head straight to the "Snow World," with its 70-meter-long snow sculptures and 120-meter snow slide. After playing, send a postcard from the "Snow Country Post Office" – getting a "Jingyuetan" postmark is super ceremonial! - Ice and Snow World: Be ready for the lights to turn on at 4:15 PM sharp! Reservations for the 512-meter ice slide in advance via the mini-program (save an hour of waiting time). At night, the ice lights twinkle like a fairytale world. When it's cold, snuggle into a warm "house" and munch on roasted sweet potatoes, watch the elderly folks dancing in the snow – that's the down-to-earth joy of Northeast China! 🍲 Day 3: "This Mountain" x "Old Restaurant" – An Immersive Experience of Local Life - "This Mountain": Pretend to hike and shop! Follow the "Mountain City Trail" for snacks; I recommend "Master Zhang's Fried Rice Noodles" (full of wok hei) and the "Bookstore in the Cave." In the evening, watch the "Opening Ceremony," a lively parade of NPCs in ancient costumes. If you get lost, just ask the cleaning lady in the floral cotton-padded jacket; she'll chat and show you shortcuts! - Dinner Surprise: "Chunfahe Restaurant's" Snow-Clad Red Bean Paste is a must-try! Egg white coated in red bean paste, fried until snow-white, reveals a smooth and creamy red bean paste inside. 87-year-old Chef Wang says, "My great-great-grandfather made this dish like this!" 🎡 Day 4: Zoo and Botanical Park x Lotus Island – Unlocking a Northeast Fairytale - Zoo and Botanical Park Night Tour: Authorized by CCTV's Journey to the West! Follow "Tang Sanzang" for milk tea, watch a holographic projection of "Sun Wukong," and the most amazing thing is the Siberian tiger in the snow, its orange fur against the white snow like moving amber (remember to wear non-slip shoes, the tiger enclosure is a bit slippery). - Lotus Island Republican Era Town: Take a horse-drawn carriage to stroll through the "Manchukuo Street," watch the immersive drama "The Story of Xinjing," enjoy a whole pig feast around a bonfire in the evening, listen to an old man sing Errenzhuan (a type of folk opera), and finally dance the Northeast disco amidst fireworks—this is the true romance of Northeast China! 🛏️ Day 5: Wake up naturally and end with the morning market - Dongdaqiao Morning Market: Head over at 6 am! Sticky rice cakes, fried cakes, freshly ground soy milk—eat your fill for 10 yuan. When buying frozen pears, remember to ask the vendor to peel and cut them into chunks. Stick a toothpick in and eat them as you walk – that's how locals eat them! - Bonus on your return trip: Visit the "Changchun Gifts" flagship store and buy a box of "Puppet Emperor's Palace Fridge Magnets" + "Jingyuetan Dried Blueberries." The staff will give you a handwritten postcard: "Changchun isn't anything special, but once you come, you won't want to leave!" 💡【Hidden Activities Locals Would Never Tell You】 ✅ Jingyuetan Stargazing: In summer, camping to see the Milky Way (tent area NT$128/night); in winter, lying flat on the snow, the stars are so bright they look like salt sprinkled on top! ✅ Route 54 Cultural Tourism Special Train: A retro tram departing from Changying Station, the carriages are filled with old newspapers and photos, and there's free hot ginger tea. A one-hour ride will take you back to the 1980s. ✅ Bathhouse Culture: When you're tired, head to "Mingquan Bathhouse" for a sauna. The Northeastern-style chatter from the bathhouse attendants is more stress-relieving than a massage! (Remember to bring your own bath towel; Southern friends, be careful with the "extra-hard" pressure!) 🚫【Avoid These Pitfalls!】 ❌ Don't wear too many layers at the Ice and Snow World! The ice slides require crawling through holes, and you'll feel so bulky you'll question your existence (a thin down jacket + thermal underwear is the most flexible). ❌ Don't take random photos at the Puppet Emperor's Palace! Photography is prohibited in parts of Qinmin Building; respecting history is more important than checking off photos. ❌ Don't believe the "authentic Northeastern cuisine" trendy restaurants! The old shops in Guilin Road alleys might have sweet and sour pork that's bigger than your face. 🌌【In Conclusion】 The romance of Changchun is hidden in the moss in the corner of the Puppet Emperor's Palace, in the footprints on the snow at Jingyuetan, and in the bubbling steam of the iron pot stew. No need to rush, slow down here—after all, Northeasterners excel at making life as delicious as a stew! (Interactive ending) "What's the warmest moment you've ever experienced in Changchun?" Share your thoughts in the comments! We'll pick 3 lucky winners to receive a "Puppet Emperor's Palace Fridge Magnet"! 👇 (The entire article is filled with Northeastern dialect references and practical details, using a "Southern friend's perspective" to enhance resonance, interspersed with emojis and scene-based descriptions, achieving the "realism + fun" of a viral guide.) (Topic with location tagging and popular hashtags to increase exposure) (Word count: Approximately 1800 words, suitable for mobile reading habits, short paragraphs + key points highlighted in red, suitable for social media sharing)
