Their huge illuminated façades create an impressive skyline that feels almost futuristic. Standing in front of them at night really shows the scale and ambition of modern Chengdu. 🎋 Then there is Taikoo Li Chengdu, the famous open-air shopping district. Its architecture is inspired by traditional Sichuan buildings, with low-rise structures, narrow lanes and beautiful bamboo-like architectural elements mixed with luxury boutiques, restaurants and cafés. More than 300 shops and restaurants are spread throughout the complex, next to the historic Daci Temple. (Swire Properties) 🏢 And then comes the New Century Global Center… which is simply enormous. With around 1.7 million m² of floor space, it has been described as the world’s largest freestanding building by floor area.
