Durban
📍 Place: Durban, South Africa ✨ What it felt like: I spent the day walking along the beachfront, surrounded by palm trees, ocean views, and a lively atmosphere. The wide promenade made it easy to slow down and enjoy the scenery while watching locals and visitors make the most of the sunshine. 👀 What stood out: The Golden Mile was easily the highlight of my visit. The combination of long sandy beaches, modern city views, and the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium created a unique skyline. I also noticed how relaxed the city felt, with plenty of outdoor cafés and waterfront spots to stop and enjoy the view. The coastal setting made every walk feel refreshing. 💡 Exclusive tip: Plan your beachfront walk for late afternoon and stay through sunset. The golden light along the promenade creates beautiful photo opportunities, and the cooler temperatures make exploring much more comfortable. ❤️ Personal feeling: What I enjoyed most was the balance between city and sea. Durban felt easygoing and welcoming, the kind of place where I could spend hours simply walking by the water and enjoying the atmosphere without rushing anywhere. #Durban #SouthAfrica #goldenmile #budgettravel #midrangetravel #luxurytravel #travel2026#travel#couplestrip#thingstodo#familytravel

Durban is often ignored in favor of Cape Town. And if I have to be completely honest I would also choose Cape Town over Durban. But if you happen to find yourself in Durban, don’t despair, it’s an awesome place. If you’re into history, the battlefields in Isandlwana are intriguing and so worth the visit. If you’re into diving, Sodwana bay is the place for you. Epic reefs and diving schools. If you’re in the city centre, the golden mile is calling your name. And if you’re wondering which restaurant to eat at along the golden mile, Surf Riders is just the place. There’s so much to do! And the weather is a great benefit - especially during winter when Cape Town can get a little cold. Furthermore, if you’re up for a little road trip you can make your way to the Drakensberg. You will see the Milky Way as you’ve never seen it before and get the peace and quiet you’ve been longing for.

My experience in Ballito and Durban was the perfect combo of good vibes, chill moments, and all-out coastal bliss 🌊✨ Seriously, from the second I stepped off the plane, the ocean breeze and those endless blue skies had me feeling instantly refreshed. The sunny weather, modern beachfront architecture, and awesome views—sooo good! If you’re looking for a destination that heals your soul, look no further. Being by the sea just hits different. It gives you a chance to slow down, breathe in that salty air, and appreciate the simple things we usually take for granted. Whether I was chasing adventure or just soaking up peaceful moments, this trip was an ultimate reset for my mind and spirit. Here’s what made Ballito and Durban a total vibe: · Walking the Ballito Boardwalk (between Compensation Beach Rd & Salmon Bay Beach, Ballito, open all day) — literally the best for those “living my best life” moments! · Sunrise and sunset watching right on the shore — golden hour was next-level gorgeous! · Exploring Durban’s legendary Golden Mile (snag the best beachfront shots along OR Tambo Parade) · Sipping coffee in cute cafés and trying some 🔥 local eats (Durban curry, anyone?) · Chilling out beachside and letting all my worries float away · Deep convos, big laughs, and pure gratitude for every sunset Ballito brought those sleek, calm, and relaxing vibes, while Durban was buzzing with life, culture, and excitement. The combo was everything—peaceful mornings in Ballito, electric nights on Durban’s vibrant strip. Every day was either packed with mini adventures or laid-back enough for me to just lie back, listen to the waves, and reflect on all the blessings around me. Real talk: there’s nothing like waking up, catching the sunrise, and taking a walk along those picture-perfect shores. No cap, the memories hit different here. Safe travels, amazing food, beautiful people, and that much-needed reminder: it’s okay to slow down. This wasn’t just a holiday; it was complete soul medicine 🌴☀️ Can’t wait to go back and make even more magical moments by the sea! Ready for your own coastal getaway?
