I spent a special day at Ban-ei Tokachi (Obihiro Racecourse), an absolute must-see highlight of any trip to Obihiro! Unlike typical horse racing, this is a thrilling race where massive racehorses weighing over a ton pull heavy steel sleds over two hills. It is a unique spectacle found nowhere else in the world but in Obihiro. Perhaps because the sun sets particularly early in Hokkaido, the racecourse, illuminated early in the afternoon, created a strangely more sentimental and immersive atmosphere. 🌇 Here are three must-see highlights! 1️⃣ The dynamic moments cutting through the sandstorm 💥 The sense of presence is truly incredible when the horses climb the hills while breathing heavily.
