KEY'S CAFE / Baskin Robbins Obihiro Eastmall
Located in Hokkaido's Obihiro, ⭐️Okasho Obihiro East Mall⭐️ (岡書 帯広イーストモール店) is more than just a bookstore—it's a multi-cultural space that offers lifestyle suggestions to the local community. If you're traveling abroad and find yourself in Obihiro, this is a spot worth visiting. Operated by Okamoto Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Okamoto Group that has been rooted in Obihiro since the 1950s, this store has a rich history of engaging with the local community. One of the standout features of this store is its 'fusion of books and café.' Inside the store, you'll find a branch of Japan's famous coffee chain 'DOUTOR Coffee,' allowing visitors to leisurely read books with a cup of coffee before purchasing them. This 'book and café' concept has become a staple in the area, reflecting Okasho's philosophy of providing both relaxation and intellectual enjoyment to its customers. Among bookstores in Obihiro, this one stands out as a cultural and lifestyle hub. 🎯〒080-0804 Hokkaido, Obihiro, Higashi 4 Jominami, 16 Chome−6−6

Okasho (岡書), a renowned bookstore brand in the eastern Hokkaido region, has long served as a treasure trove of knowledge for locals. If you're traveling abroad and visiting Obihiro, the Otofuke Kino Store is a must-see destination. Adapting to the changing times, this store has transformed from a traditional bookstore into a 'multi-cultural hub' where visitors can eat, drink, and enjoy, becoming a new landmark in the local community. With a spacious store area reminiscent of Hokkaido's vast landscapes, its modern renovation has created a welcoming space for people of all ages. There are two locations in Obihiro, and having a car makes it more convenient to visit and spend quality time here. 🎯〒080-0301 Hokkaido, Kato District, Otofuke, Kinoodorinishi, 12 Chome−1−10
Tokachi-Obihiro Airport
#OverseasTravel Tokachi Obihiro Airport relocated to its current location and opened in 1981. The observation deck was established alongside the airport terminal during its construction to provide relaxation and attractions for passengers and local residents who love airplanes. It has long been a beloved spot where visitors can admire aircraft from a very close distance under Hokkaido's fresh air and blue skies. Among them, the ⭐️Observation Deck⭐️ (Tokachi Obihiro Airport Observation Deck) on the 3rd floor offers a view of the runway right before your eyes, allowing you to observe the dynamic sight of planes flying to and from Obihiro Airport—such as JAL and AIRDO—taking off and landing with the roar of their engines. On clear days, the majestic ridges of the Hidaka Mountains stretch westward like a folding screen, presenting a unique Tokachi landscape where aircraft and nature harmonize. It also hosts light exhibitions, making it a great place to spend time at the airport. 🎯Terminal Building, Nishi 9 Sen-中8−41 Izumicho, Obihiro, Hokkaido 089-1245 #ObservationDeck #とかち帯広空港 #展望デッキ #Obihiro Travel #Obihiro
Obihiro Racecourse
I spent a special day at Ban-ei Tokachi (Obihiro Racecourse), an absolute must-see highlight of any trip to Obihiro! Unlike typical horse racing, this is a thrilling race where massive racehorses weighing over a ton pull heavy steel sleds over two hills. It is a unique spectacle found nowhere else in the world but in Obihiro. Perhaps because the sun sets particularly early in Hokkaido, the racecourse, illuminated early in the afternoon, created a strangely more sentimental and immersive atmosphere. 🌇 Here are three must-see highlights! 1️⃣ The dynamic moments cutting through the sandstorm 💥 The sense of presence is truly incredible when the horses climb the hills while breathing heavily. If you go to the front of the grandstands, you can walk alongside the horses along the track to cheer them on; I lost track of time capturing these overwhelming and dynamic moments vividly with my Canon lens. 📸 2️⃣ Guaranteed Fun for Beginners! Small Betting Ticket Experience 🎫 You can lightly purchase betting tickets starting from just 100 yen. It’s okay if you don’t know the complicated rules. The thrill of watching the horse you picked go over the hill and cross the finish line will boost the fun of your trip by 200%! 3️⃣ Interact with Cute Animals, 'Fureai Zoo' 🐴 In one corner of the racetrack, there is a space set up where you can meet retired racehorses, cute ponies, rabbits, and more up close. As you interact with them by feeding them carrots, you can cool down the heat of the race and enjoy a warm, healing experience. If you are looking for both thrilling sports and unique photo spots, Obihiro Racecourse is a must-visit! 👍 📍 Location: Obihiro Racecourse (Banei Tokachi) ⏰ Race Schedule: Mainly held on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays (Be sure to check the schedule on the website before visiting!) 💡 Tip: Don't miss out on delicious local produce from the Obihiro region at 'Tokachi Mura' located at the racecourse entrance! #TravelPlanning #OverseasTravel #JapanTravel #HokkaidoTravel #ObihiroTravel

#January Destinations 2026 When visiting Tokachi-Obihiro, Hokkaido's "Agricultural Kingdom," don't miss the vibrant and welcoming yatai (street food stall) culture at night. Unlike the crowded and cold atmosphere of Tokyo or Osaka, Obihiro's yatai possess a unique "northern warmth," making you want to crawl behind a warm curtain and share a drink with strangers even in sub-zero temperatures. 🏮 Two Shining Stars: Kita no Yatai & Tokachi no Nagaya Obihiro's most famous yatai district consists of two adjacent streets: • Kita no Yatai: The originator of Obihiro's yatai, featuring about 20 unique shops. Here you'll find not only skewers and ramen, but also surprising French cuisine, Italian dishes, and even game (such as Ezo venison). • Tokachi no Nagaya: With a nostalgic style, about 20 shops line a wooden walkway, offering more authentic Japanese izakaya cuisine, fried skewers, and local sake. ❄️ Travel Experience: Warm Light and Laughter on a Snowy Night • Vibrant Life: On winter nights, these two streets are illuminated by warm orange lights. People in thick down jackets weave through the narrow alleys, the crunch of snow under their feet mingling with the sounds of clinking glasses and laughter emanating from the shops, creating a lively background soundscape. • The Magic of Small Spaces: Each stall typically seats only 8-10 people. This "forced" sense of intimacy allows strangers to easily strike up conversations with local farmers and office workers. When the proprietress hands you a steaming bowl of pork miso soup, the feeling of being accepted and belonging is something large chain restaurants can't provide. • A Winter Haven: Although the wind is biting cold outside, lifting the heavy winter curtain instantly reveals a warm, cozy interior, enveloped by the warmth of the heating and fire. The moment your glasses fog up is the happiest moment of your trip. 🍽️ Must-Try Recommendations: Gifts of Tokachi • Tokachi Butadon: The soul of Obihiro, glistening, slightly charred pork slices coated in a sweet and savory sauce. Enjoying it at a street stall adds a touch of rustic charm. • French Street Food: Recommended restaurants include Marionne, which uses fresh milk, potatoes, and cheese from Tokachi to create exquisite French cuisine. Paired with red wine, the contrast is incredibly appealing. • Gibier: Ezo venison, available only in winter, is tender and free of any gamey taste—a rare delicacy unique to Hokkaido. • Tokachi Sake: Don't forget to order a glass of the local "Tokachi Haru" sake; its refreshing taste is a perfect match for rich meat dishes. 🚌 Transportation and Basic Information • Location: 10-chome, Minami 1-jo, Obihiro City (two streets apart) • Access: Approximately a 5-minute walk from JR Obihiro Station. • Business Hours: Generally 17:00 – 24:00 (Closed on different days depending on the establishment; most are closed on Sundays or Mondays). • Payment Suggestions: While some establishments accept credit cards, cash or PayPay is the most common and convenient payment method in the yatai (traditional Japanese restaurant) area. #ObihiroYata #KitanoYata #TokachiNagaya #ObihiroTourism #HokkaidoFood #TokachiButaDonburi #MidnightDiner #NipponYata #HokkaidoWinter #NightOfLove
Midorigaoka Park
#OverseasTravel While traveling overseas in Obihiro, I stopped by ⭐️Midorigaoka Park⭐️ 緑ヶ丘公園, the oldest park in Obihiro City, dating back to the Taisho period in the early 1900s. Originally a barren frontier, the area was gradually transformed into a lush forest and expansive plains thanks to the efforts of local residents. The expansive grounds, spanning approximately 50.5 hectares, now include the former Obihiro Prison site. Beyond being a mere park, it has come to symbolize Obihiro's pioneering spirit and growth. This expansive park is perfect for walking dogs. 🎯2 Midorigaoka, Obihiro, Hokkaido 080-0846 #MidorigaokaPark #ObihiroPark #Obihiro #ObihiroTravel
