Paros
Seeing the iconic blue and white houses in Greece has always been on my bucket list‼️‼️ For this trip, I opted for the less touristy island of Paros😛🩵 Setting foot on this Greek island, my heart was instantly healed by this world woven with pure white houses and the blue sky and sea! It only takes a half-hour domestic flight from Athens Airport. If you book the right time, you can easily enjoy a day of light travel. Want to experience the picturesque travel scene of "having dinner by the Aegean Sea with cats for company"? Come to Paros and take your time capturing these moments! 🌟 Trip Highlights On this trip, you can: ✔ Walk into the fishing village of Naousa and experience the daily life of a small Greek town ✔ Have breakfast at a dreamy sea-view Western-style cafe, with pancakes as beautiful as a postcard and unbelievably delicious ✔ Wander through the blue and white alleys and take stunning Mediterranean-style photos ✔ Enjoy a pasta dinner by the port of Paros in the evening, with street cats keeping you company + the sound of the Aegean waves healing your soul 👣 Itinerary Recommendations 1️⃣ Transportation Taking a domestic flight directly from Athens Airport to Paros is the fastest way, taking only 30 minutes one way. Early booking is highly recommended since flights are limited. You can also take a ferry, but it takes much longer, which is ideal if you have a flexible schedule. If you have a lot of luggage, you might as well leave it in the lockers at Athens Airport for a hassle-free trip! 2️⃣ Accommodation Paros offers plenty of choices. This time, we stayed in a cozy double room with a small balcony for over 600 HKD. If you have a higher budget, definitely go for a sea view! Waking up to the sunrise and watching the sunset over the Aegean Sea every day is incredibly therapeutic. 3️⃣ Local Transport There's a main bus terminal in the downtown area. If you arrive by ferry, this is where you disembark. There are also local buses available here; you can buy tickets on the spot in the morning, making it super easy to visit popular spots. Although most signs are in Greek, shop staff can communicate in English, so there's no need to worry about getting lost. 4️⃣ Highly Recommend Naousa Fishing Village I suggest making this fishing village your first stop by bus! It's full of authentic Greek fishing village vibes. Not only are there countless blue and white buildings as your photo backdrop, but there are also cats sleeping in the sun and locals drying octopuses by the street—a unique charm that makes you want to stay. The streets are lined with souvenir shops selling beautiful handmade seashells, definitely worth buying! For lunch, you must try the Western-style dessert shops here. The pancakes look and taste amazing (you have to try the strawberry pancake sprinkled with chocolate chips❣️). Prices are slightly higher than in big cities, but since you're already here, it's absolutely worth it. 5️⃣ Evening Return to Paros Downtown There are many Western restaurants near the port, specializing in pasta + fresh seafood dishes. My favorite is the rich and creamy carbonara. Paired with the waves and little cats, I felt like this is exactly how life should be lived! I highly recommend trying the local seafood—freshly caught and retaining its original flavor. Again, prices are a bit on the high side, with a plate of pasta costing around 100+ HKD. 💡 Practical Tips · It gets windy by the port at night, so remember to bring a light jacket · Apart from the signs being mostly in Greek, communicating in English with most shop staff is completely fine and stress-free · It's highly recommended to book your flights in advance as they are infrequent and sometimes delayed · Dragging large luggage through the small town can be exhausting. I suggest packing light. If you really have a lot of luggage, it's better to store it at Athens Airport · If you want to capture the sunset sea view, remember to find a restaurant early as they are often fully booked
Paros
If you think Paros is just about soaking up the sun and snapping Insta-worthy pics, you're missing out—the island's food scene is actually mind-blowing! Today, I'm dropping three restaurants I tried and absolutely swear by. Whether you're craving authentic Greek flavors or Western-style seafood, these spots have got you covered. They're totally perfect for kicking back, taking in the Aegean Sea, and savoring a gorgeous dinner at your own pace! 😛✌🏻 📍 Stavros Kebabtzifiko Address: Paros 844 00, Greece Specialty: Greek Gyros Food Highlights: Drawing from Middle Eastern roasting techniques, the sliced meat is grilled to be crispy on the outside and super juicy inside. The ultimate combo is mixing the meat with piping hot fries and flavorful onions—the texture is insane. Their house-made sauce is fresh and zesty, so it never feels too heavy. The portion might not look massive at first glance, but trust me, you'll be stuffed! Vibe: Authentic mom-and-pop shop feel. Simple seating, welcoming atmosphere, and incredibly local. Price: €7-12 per person. Budget-friendly and super filling. Hours: Usually open from noon through the evening (lunchtime is highly recommended, but check locally). Verdict: Gyros loaded with fries is a game-changer. It hits different from a Turkish Kebab—super fun and easy on the wallet! 📍 Aeoli Address: Παροικία, Livadia 844 00, Greece Specialty: Western-style seaside dining Food Highlights: You have to get the tomato pasta and the risotto. Every single bite is coated in a rich, savory sauce. The pasta is perfectly al dente, and the risotto portions are generous. Grab an outdoor table at golden hour: sunset views + Aegean sea breeze = the ultimate dinner experience. Vibe: Oceanfront seating with stunning dinner/night views. It strikes a great balance between lively and laid-back, so whether you want to turn up or just chill out, the vibe is spot on. Price: €20-35 per person. Totally worth it for the food and the setting. Hours: Afternoon till late night (sunset hours are highly recommended). Verdict: Outdoor seaside sunset + bomb food = happiness levels maxed out! 📍 Filoxenia Address: paros, Paros 844 00, Greece Specialty: Western cuisine + fresh seafood Food Highlights: The seafood platter is an absolute must! The shrimp, octopus, and mussels are incredibly fresh and juicy. Pair it with a massive side of fries or a club sandwich, and it's perfect for sharing. The fried goodies come out piping hot, and the platter offers unbeatable bang for your buck. A top-tier spot for friends and families to grab a bite. Vibe: Bright, spacious, and super welcoming. Great for hanging out and chatting the night away. Price: €15-25 per person. An amazing value for a seafood feast. Hours: Serving Lunch & Dinner all day. Verdict: The portion sizes will literally shock you, and both the quality of the seafood and the price hit the mark! ‼️ Quick Tips 1. Paros has a super diverse food scene, offering everything from traditional Greek dishes to Western fare. Make sure to try a bit of everything and just vibe out. 2. Most places take credit cards, but carrying some cash is always a safe bet so you don't have to hunt down an ATM. 3. The staff mostly speak English, so ordering is a breeze. Plus, the Greeks are incredibly friendly, so never hesitate to ask for recommendations! 4. The service can be on the slower side, but when in Rome, right? Embrace the slow-paced island life, treat it like a real vacation, and just take your time enjoying the moment~
Kolympethres Beach
Dreaming of unspoiled Greek island vibes? 🏖️ Paros totally delivered, and I found some hidden gems away from the crowds you NEED to know about. Top Spots to Visit in Paros Kolymbithres Beach – Famous for its moon-like rocks and turquoise water, but here’s a tip: go early in the morning to claim a peaceful spot before the sunbathers roll in! 📷 Lefkes Village – Absolutely serene and charming, tucked into the hills. Get lost among white-washed houses and bougainvillea, and swing by the little cafés for a coffee with a view. Local Tavern in Naoussa – Skip the touristy strip and go for a family-run taverna a few streets back from the harbor. I scored insanely fresh grilled octopus and local wine here without the tourist markup. 🍷 Golden Beach – If you want wide sands, gentle waves, and fewer people, this is your chill-out zone. Pack some snacks, a good book, and take it slow. Travel & Food Tips Getting Around: The local buses are easy and cheap, but I highly recommend renting a scooter for max beach-hopping freedom. Parking is a breeze and you can reach all the secret coves. Food: Don’t miss anything with local cheese or seafood. Order “καλαμαράκια” (fried calamari) at tiny taverns away from the main squares—way tastier and less crowded. Practical Tips: Bring cash! Some tavernas and beach cafés are still cash-only. Paros is sunny and breezy—pack sunscreen and a light jacket for cooler evenings on the water. This island is perfect for those who want real Greek hospitality and peaceful vibes, not crowds. See you on the (almost) secret sands! 🌊 #ParosDiaries #GreekIslandsGuide #HiddenGems #TravelTips #BeachMood
