Winter in Santorini, with fewer tourists, is perfect for those seeking a relaxed getaway. However, choosing the right base and planning transportation are crucial! 🏨 Recommended Accommodation: Stay in Fira Most buses depart and arrive in Fira, making it a convenient base for getting around. Even in the off-season, many restaurants remain open, so finding meals is not a problem. We stayed at Cycladic Suites & Spa: ・About a 10-minute walk from the bus station ・The area around the hotel has steep slopes and many stairs, making suitcase transport a bit challenging ・The room features a steam sauna, and there’s a heated outdoor pool, allowing you to enjoy the hotel even on bad weather days ・Plus, lots of friendly cats came to visit, which was truly heartwarming…♡ One of the perks of the off-season is being able to stay at great hotels for a reasonable price! Considering the weather, it’s better to prioritize the comfort of the hotel itself over the view. 🚌 Always Check the Bus Timetable in Advance As mentioned before, the number of buses is very limited. On a rainy day, we missed the bus and ended up hitching a ride with a couple from Athens who had rented a car. 🍽 The Only Open Restaurant in Oia ・Lotza Most places were closed, but this restaurant was open, and both the food and desserts were delicious. 🍴 Recommended Restaurants in Fira ・Pelican Kipos cafe and wine restaurant Great atmosphere and satisfying meals. ・Ilios Bakery – All-Day Cafe, Bakery & Restaurant A wide variety of large breads. We took some out to enjoy while admiring the scenery on a sunny day. 🍷 Wine Tasting at a Winery Enjoy wine tasting paired with ham, cheese, olives, and snacks. It’s a bus stop along the way, so be mindful of the return bus schedule. Although we didn’t visit this time, winery tours are also available. To fully enjoy the quiet charm of Santorini in the off-season, we found that "staying in Fira and keeping track of bus schedules" were key points.
