Even with a language barrier, they welcomed me with huge smiles and helped me out when I was in a pinch... Genghis Khan Statue Complex 🗿🐎 Located on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, this 40-meter-tall silver stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan on horseback is the largest equestrian statue in the world! You can take an elevator up to the horse's head to overlook the boundless beauty of the steppes. Terelj National Park 🌲🪨 As the closest national park to the capital, it is renowned for its unique rock formations (like the famous "Turtle Rock") and alpine forests. It's the ultimate spot to experience staying in a traditional Ger and go horseback riding! Gobi Desert / Khongoryn Els 🐫🌵 This vast desert in southern Mongolia is home to the acoustic "Singing Dunes" and the famous dinosaur fossil site, the "Flaming Cliffs". Here’s what makes the city stand out: 🏢 Architectural Fusion: Ultra-modern glass skyscrapers (like the Blue Sky Tower) stand right alongside Soviet-era blocks, ancient Buddhist temples, and traditional yurt districts perched on the hillsides. 🛣️ Grand Avenues: The city's main artery, Peace Avenue (Enkhtaivan), features wide, expansive streets that highlight the capital's grand scale. 🚗 A Sea of Cars: A massive number of vehicles and legendary traffic jams are an inseparable part of city life. You’ll see SUVs absolutely everywhere! 🏙️ The Central Square: Sükhbaatar Square is breathtakingly monumental, offering a grand view of the Government Palace.

The Bogd Khan Winter Palace, the winter residence of Mongolia's last emperor, the 8th Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, is located diagonally across from the Central Stadium in the city center. It is mainly divided into two sections. The first is a Chinese-style architectural complex resembling Qing Dynasty palaces. While this palace built by nomads may not be as majestic as those in the Central Plains of China, it showcases a stunning collection of precious thangkas, Buddha statues, and Buddhist ritual implements. Interestingly, the adjacent two-story Russian-style building is the actual "Winter Palace." It holds the title of being the very first two-story building in Mongolia. Inside, it houses an impressive array of fine artifacts and gifts presented to the Mongolian King by various nations, including century-old bird and penguin taxidermy mounts and the royal carriage. The collection is incredibly well-preserved, so be sure not to miss it. Tickets🎫: 15,000 MNT (approx. 35 HKD), credit cards accepted. Transportation🚏 tips: When heading from the airport to the city, the closest bus stop is Central Stadium (Mongolian: Төв цэнгэлдэх хүрээлэн). If departing from the city center, it's 120 myangat (120 мянгат). Both stops are serviced by multiple bus lines and act as midway stops for the x:19 airport bus. You can use the UB Smart Bus app to track real-time bus locations. A U-money transit card is required for fare payment, which can be purchased and reloaded at vending machines in the airport. Each ride costs just 1,000 MNT and includes up to three transfers.

I spent two unforgettable weeks in Ulaanbaatar, completely captivated by its food culture! 🤩 🍖 What shocked me most was that the vegetables here are actually more expensive than the meat! 😂 As a meat lover, this is paradise! 🐏 I could eat meat freely every day! I highly recommend trying the traditional stone-grilled lamb chops and hand-pulled lamb. 🏙️ A must-see every day: Sukhbaatar Square is an absolute city landmark, witnessing Mongolia's busiest traffic artery. 🚗 A reminder for first-time visitors: Be extremely careful when crossing the street! 🌃 Ulaanbaatar is absolutely stunning at night! I recommend finding a high-rise restaurant to enjoy Mongolian milk tea 🥛 while admiring the city lights. 💡Travel Tips: 1️⃣ Exchange your currency in advance. 2️⃣ Bring a jacket as the temperature difference between day and night is significant in summer. 3️⃣ Carry plenty of cash (many places don't accept credit cards).
