It’s in the leisurely strolls along streets made of pink tuff, in a strong cup of coffee, in warm evenings on open terraces, and in the feeling that no one here is ever in a rush. If you only have one day, don't try to see everything. It's better to follow a route that lets you discover the city gradually, without the hustle and bustle. That’s exactly how we spent our day in Yerevan, and looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. ☕ 09:00 AM. Start Your Day with Strong Armenian Coffee In Armenia, coffee is a little daily ritual. Don't get it to go. Instead, find a cozy coffee shop, order a fragrant cup, and give yourself time to wake up. This is exactly where your introduction to the city begins. 🏛️ 10:00 AM. Republic Square Let the heart of Yerevan be your first stop. Republic Square is surrounded by buildings made of the famous pink tuff—the stone that earned the capital its unofficial nickname, the "Pink City." Don't rush to move on. Take in the architecture, feel the rhythm of the city, and just people-watch for a bit. 🕌 10:45 AM. Blue Mosque Just a few minutes' walk away is a place that surprises many travelers. The Blue Mosque is a true, quiet oasis in the middle of a bustling downtown. With its lush green courtyard and the soothing sound of trickling water, it offers a completely different vibe. It’s the perfect excuse to slow down for a while. 🚶 11:30 AM. Northern Avenue Next, the route leads you to the city's most modern street. Northern Avenue is all about shop windows, cafes, street musicians, and the vibe of a European city with a distinct Armenian flair. This is the kind of place where you just want to stroll at a leisurely pace and soak up the atmosphere. 🎭 12:00 PM. Opera and Ballet Theater A few minutes later, you’ll find yourself at one of Yerevan's iconic symbols. Right in front of the theater lies Swan Lake, an area always buzzing with locals. You'll see someone reading a book on a bench, friends meeting up, or people just unwinding after work. If you want to truly feel the city rather than just see it, stick around here for at least ten minutes. 🪜 12:45 PM. The Cascade It’s impossible to imagine Yerevan without this spot. Climb the famous stairs or take the escalators inside the complex. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with one of the best panoramic views of the city. And if the weather is on your side, majestic Mount Ararat will appear on the horizon. Make sure to walk around the Cascade—it hosts an open-air modern art museum featuring quirky sculptures. While huge crowds of tourists gather here to catch the sunset in the evening, it's not nearly as packed during the day. 🍽️ 2:30 PM. Lunch After that climb, it’s high time for a break. Try some traditional khorovats, dolma, kufta, or fresh lavash with local cheeses. Armenian cuisine is honestly one of the biggest reasons you’ll want to come back. 🌳 4:00 PM. Victory Park You can catch a taxi and be here in just a few minutes. Most tourists stop at the Cascade, but in my opinion, this spot offers the absolute best view of Yerevan. The "Mother Armenia" monument is right nearby, and the park itself is great for a relaxing stroll before heading back downtown. 🎁 6:00 PM. Vernissage If you want to take home more than just a fridge magnet from Armenia, this is a must-visit. Vernissage is an open-air market selling handmade crafts, carpets, ceramics, jewelry, paintings, wooden souvenirs, and a ton of unique items you'd struggle to find in regular stores. Even if you don't buy anything, just walking through the market is an experience in itself. ⛲ 8:00 PM. Singing Fountains The best way to end your day is right where it started. As evening falls, Republic Square completely transforms. The fountains start dancing to music, locals and tourists gather around, and the vibe gets genuinely festive. It’s the perfect spot to bid the city farewell. Helpful Tips ✔️ Wear comfortable shoes—this itinerary is entirely on foot, and climbing the Cascade takes a bit of stamina. ✔️ If you're traveling in the summer, start your walk early. It can get incredibly hot in Yerevan during the day. ✔️ Save your souvenir shopping specifically for Vernissage. The selection there is way more interesting than in standard tourist shops. ✔️ Don't rush. Yerevan is a city that truly reveals itself only when you stop checking your watch. A Weekend in Yerevan: What to See in Two Days Yerevan is worth exploring and walking through thoroughly. But even two days are enough to see the most important sights and soak in the amazing spirit of this ancient city. 1️⃣ Day 1 Hotels Hotels in Yerevan cater to every budget and taste. If you want to stay in the city center, you can book a room at the Marriott, Republica, or Yerevan Place, for example—there are plenty of options. 📍Kond District This ancient neighborhood was destroyed by an earthquake in the 17th century and rebuilt from scratch. Here you can see typical Yerevan architecture with one- and two-story stone houses. You'll also find the beautiful Surp Hovhannes Mkrtich (St. John the Baptist) Church, originally built in 670 and also restored in the 17th century. 📍Botero Sculptures Works by the Colombian artist Fernando Botero, one of the world's most highly-valued sculptors, are installed in New York and Paris. Yerevan has them too, three of them to be exact. The most striking one is located right in the city center, in the park facing the Cascade complex. 📍The Cascade Construction on one of Yerevan's key landmarks began in 1971 and continues to this day. The Cascade is a massive stairway featuring fountains and open-air terraces. The top terrace offers a breathtaking view of Yerevan. 📍Cafesjian Center for the Arts Inside the Cascade is the Center for Contemporary Art. It showcases works from the personal collection of American entrepreneur Gerard Cafesjian. With pieces by Warhol, Chagall, and Robert Indiana, the collection holds several thousand items. 📍Yasaman Restaurant This highly renowned national cuisine restaurant operates in three Armenian cities. In Yerevan, it is located on Yekmalyan Street. The menu is an absolute dream: dolma, kebabs, eggplants, desserts, and other delights. You'll want to try everything. 2️⃣ Day 2 📍Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral This modern cathedral (built in 2001) is the largest in Yerevan and all of Armenia. It consists of two churches and the main cathedral, which can hold several thousand people. Towering at 54 meters (177 feet) and featuring an austere interior, the cathedral leaves a powerful impression. 📍Northern Avenue Built in the mid-2000s, this pedestrian street is half a kilometer (about a third of a mile) long. It's packed with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. The area is lively, modern, and trendy. 📍Renommee Restaurant A fine-dining, signature cuisine restaurant helmed by chef Karen Khachatryan. Besides the main dishes, the menu offers 8- and 11-course tasting sets. The prices are steep, but the upscale setting justifies it. 📍Martiros Saryan House-Museum Yerevan has many different museums, but if you want to explore national painting, head to the Saryan Gallery. Martiros Saryan, often called the local Monet, is a master who perfectly captured the spirit of Armenia. 📍Vernissage Market Originally a place to sell paintings, the market has expanded significantly over the years. Today you can find carpets, jewelry, backgammon sets, rare dishes, and, of course, paintings by local artists. It's best to get to the market early. 📍Ararat Brandy Factory This legendary factory is housed in a 1950s building on the banks of the Hrazdan River. You can visit Ararat on a guided tour to learn about the history of its production and enjoy a tasting session.

It's a lovely spot to sit on the grass during the summer, and it transforms into an ice skating rink in the winter. ✨️Vernissage — a massive open-air market. It's the perfect place to shop for carpets, silver, ceramics, and handmade souvenirs. ✨️Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral — one of the largest churches in the Caucasus. ✨️The Blue Mosque — a quiet and secluded spot featuring a cozy inner courtyard adorned with beautiful faience tiles. Emotions that will last a lifetime ♥️ Ararat—even though it's now on the other side of the border, its silhouette is everywhere here: on postcards, in conversations, in the feeling of home. Green valleys give way to rugged canyons, and clear lakes reflect the sky so clearly you can reach out and touch it. Lake Sevan, the "pearl of Armenia," lies high in the mountains—its water is cool, deep, and surprisingly clear, and its shores are embraced by ancient monasteries, as if preserving the silence of centuries. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ In Armenia, history doesn't hide in museums—it lives in the stones. Geghard Monastery, partially carved directly into the rock, seems to have grown out of the mountain itself: the coolness of its halls, the subdued light, and the whisper of water create the feeling of being immersed in a sacred legend. Khor Virap offers one of the most famous views of Ararat: from here, it seems like eternity is just a step away. And in Garni stands a pagan temple, a rare remnant of the ancient world on Armenian soil—it stands on the edge of a cliff, and the wind here speaks the language of millennia.
