If you want to understand Yerevan, start with Cascade. At first glance, it looks like a giant staircase connecting the city center with the higher northern part of the capital. But Cascade is much more than that. It is an open-air museum 🎨, a concert venue 🎶, a sports ground 🏃, a meeting place 🤝, and one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in Armenia. Every level reveals something new. Art galleries and exhibition spaces are built into the complex, while sculptures by world-famous artists fill the park at its base 🗿. Many exhibitions and galleries can be visited free of charge 💡, making Cascade one of the most accessible cultural attractions in the city. Visit in the evening 🌅 and you will discover a completely different atmosphere. Locals jog up the stairs, musicians perform 🎻, friends gather on the steps, and special events, flash mobs, and concerts often transform the entire area into a celebration 🎉. One of my favorite hidden gems is the surrounding balconies and terraces, where talented musicians occasionally perform completely free for whoever happens to be passing by 🎵. 📸 Travel tip: Don't rush straight to the top. Take your time and explore each terrace. Every level offers different views, sculptures, and photo opportunities. And then comes the reward. ✨ At the top awaits one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the world: Yerevan stretching before you, crowned by the majestic silhouette of Mount Ararat ⛰️. Yerevan really knows how to pull off incredibly cozy, indie-style spots ✨ Green Room is a small downtown bar that regularly hosts trivia nights, open mics, movie screenings, and other good-vibe events. It's the kind of place where you don't just grab a beer, but actually stick around for a great evening. My friends and I ended up here for a custom trivia night based on "The Office." 
Playing this trivia game was an absolute blast. The questions were far from basic and clearly geared toward die-hard fans, rather than people who just leave the show on in the background. The host even showed up in office attire, which instantly elevated the whole experience. I especially loved how much attention to detail goes into everything here. You can tell that everyone on the staff genuinely loves the place and wants the guests to fall in love with it, too. After that night, I checked out their event calendar and realized you could basically drop by any weekend. There are always plenty of excuses to have a great time. Yerevan completely stole my heart during a spontaneous weekend getaway. Before the trip, I spent forever deciding between booking an apartment or a hotel. Then Trip.com surprised me with a great discount for Hayasa Hotel, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of the trip. The breakfast was amazing, the room was comfortable, and I loved the view from the fifth floor overlooking a charming building with a surprisingly Asian-inspired aesthetic. Also, a clean and beautiful bathroom is always a big deal for me when traveling, and this one definitely passed the test. 🛁✨ My first day was dedicated to exploring the city with a private guide. It sounds fancy, but it's actually much more affordable than people expect. Having a local show you around makes such a difference—you get stories, hidden details, and a much deeper connection to the city. Afterward, I grabbed a coffee at Surf Coffee near the Cascade and spent some time just soaking in the atmosphere. ☕️🤍 On the second day, I took a private day trip outside Yerevan. The price was surprisingly close to what you'd pay for a regular group bus tour, but the experience felt completely different. Most of these tours are designed for just 2–4 people, making them much more comfortable and flexible. If you're visiting Armenia, I highly recommend leaving the city for at least one day. Seeing a different corner of the country makes the whole trip feel more complete. 🏔️✨ Some of my favorite spots were the colorful streets of Kond, coffee breaks at Fein Coffee, and dinner at Abovyan 12. Every place felt relaxed, welcoming, and full of character. 🤍 My biggest takeaway? Don't feel like you need to spend a whole week in Yerevan. The city is wonderful, but two days are enough to see the highlights at a comfortable pace. Use the extra time to explore the rest of Armenia—you won't regret it. When you want to take a coffee break with a girlfriend after a stroll around the Cascade—save this spot 💖 Andmore from Gotcha cafe. The interior here is so charming: light stone, lots of mirrors, and fresh flowers on the tables. It's one of those places where you don't just want to snap a pic of your drink, but actually sit and have a sweet chat with your bestie. I'm still not really a bubble tea fan, even though that's what most guests come here for. However, the food was a pleasant surprise. We ordered pasta in tomato sauce and a poke bowl—both dishes were amazing 👀 During my two weeks in Yerevan, I kept thinking about this place and meant to go back to try all the boba drinks and finally pick a favorite. But I just ran out of time 🥲 So, this spot is definitely staying on my list for the next trip. 📸 Girls, brace yourselves. I think I've found the ultimate spot for an outdoor photoshoot in Yerevan. The poppy field near the Teishebaini fortress. When the weather is good, it's virtually impossible to take a bad photo here. There's a massive field of poppies, stunning views of the surrounding area, and it feels like you're surrounded by an endless red ocean of flowers. We showed up without any props, pre-planned outfits, or even shoot concepts. But honestly, in a place like this, you don't even need them. The beautiful shots just happen naturally. And if you get lucky with the weather and visibility, you might even capture Mount Ararat in your shots ❤️ A few quick tips: ✨ bring water with you — it gets super hot out in the field; ✨ pack a compact mirror or some powder for makeup touch-ups; ✨ it's best to visit in the morning or late afternoon when the lighting is much softer. A quick history fact for the curious minds: right nearby is the Teishebaini fortress — one of the largest monuments of the ancient kingdom of Urartu. While bloggers are putting together roundups of trendy coffee shops and beautiful photo spots, I'll tell you about a much simpler way to spend a few hours in the city 🌿 Yerevan Zoo 🐒 It's located off the beaten tourist path and doesn't take up a massive area, making for a peaceful and leisurely stroll. Along with your ticket, you can grab a bag of animal feed right here. I'll be honest, the zoo doesn't look brand-new or ultra-modern, but it's home to plenty of curious and sociable residents 🫎 You'll especially remember the monkeys, who happily beg for treats from your bag, and the deer, who are ready to make friends with every visitor for a couple of carrots. At some point during a trip, you get tired of constantly rushing between landmarks. It's so nice to fall back on a classic activity like a trip to the zoo. Here, you can stand by the tiger enclosure, watch a lioness having lunch, or see the hyenas playing. And then feed apples to a camel and squeal with just as much delight as the kids around you 🙂
