A homestay in the old town of George. The decoration is quite unique, with four rooms transformed from an old historical house. On the first floor is a small shop and coffee shop built by the owner himself. The rooms are not big overall. As a homestay, it is quite satisfactory, with everything that a homestay should have. There are also no things that a homestay should not have, such as no toothbrush, no towels to be changed every day, and no timely cleaning every day. The price feels a bit expensive, and the room we stayed in is on the north side. There is a big problem with this, because it is on the street, and the sleep quality is not good. Choose carefully, especially opposite a school, which is extremely noisy in the morning. Overall, if you want to feel the Nanyang style, it is suitable to live and feel it.

Hostel is in good location that’s for sure. It’s also very cheap and the beds are comfortable with good ventilation. Bathrooms were not so clean. They didn’t provide towel, you can rent it for 2RM. I’ve got very dirty blanket and when I asked for a new one the owner said that their housekeeper is off today and he gave me clean blanket cover to put in on myself. Overall I had a good stay there (only one night) but this place needs a little bit of cleaning.

The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Mural Street and surrounded by incredible street food and attractions. The hostel itself is clean and well-maintained. The beds were comfortable, and I appreciated the organized co-working space, which made it easy to stay productive during my trip. One of the highlights was the hike they organized to a nearby hill—such a fun and refreshing activity! I was also fortunate to be there during Christmas Eve, and the hostel hosted an amazing celebration with great food and engaging activities. This hostel is a perfect choice for solo travelers. Not my first time staying at The Frame Guesthouse, and I think I will make a tradition out of it each time I visit Penang. Location is ideal as it’s close to the street art, street food, jetties and more. Staff are all super friendly and very helpful. As a solo backpacker I also found it very convenient and met a lot of cool people. I would happily recommend them to anyone coming to Penang!

This place has the nicest ambiance and a relaxing feel to it. Although it is quite old and rather tired, requiring upgrade and maintenance, it certainly has seen more glorious days in the past! The kids enjoyed all the facilities here! Restaurant menu needs to be added more variants so guest could choose to dine here though food are abundance in the area.
