|4.41km from city centerPaloh was a malay & orang asli (“native”) kampung (“village”) that has been around from at least the 18th century. Apparently the names comes from the founder of the village itself Toh Paloh. Paloh, or palung, also means a depression in the ground that holds water, or a fishing hole to catch fish. It is believed that Paloh was also a boat dock in the past. Some other views hold that the Hakka were the founders of Paloh, and only later came the Cantonese. According to this theory, the origin of the name is a symbolic reference to the dams that were constructed along the Kinta River for fishing purposes. These dams were referred to as “Pa-Lo” in the Cantonese dialect and eventually the area became known as Paloh. Paloh today has of course become the heart of the city of Ipoh. In this old part of the city pre-war Shop Houses line the streets, with a predominantly Chinese character. “Sarang” is a malay word meaning nest, hence “Sarang Paloh” means “The Nest in Paloh”, evoking the image of the hotel as a place of rest for the weary traveller. Located on Jalan Sultan Iskandar (formerly Hugh Low Street), Sarang Paloh is located in pre-war two storey shop houses that originally were the premises of a Goldsmith and a Bank more than 90 years ago. The façade of one of the buildings still has the name of the Goldsmiths on its façade in English, Chinese and Malay (jawi script), with the stately bank building still has the name of Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited on its front. Across the road, Sarang Paloh has another shophouse of which the ground floor has been converted into a carpark. If you have a car, this is where you would park. Parking is complimentary, but you must exercise caution, turning right into the shophouse entrance as Jalan Sultan Iskandar is a pretty high traffic road, and the building inside is quite narrow, with the cars having to be parked bumper to bumper, in two rows. Exit is out through the back of the shophouse into a back lane. Do bear in mind that if the shophouse is full of cars, you may get boxed in by other parked cars and not able to exit! Fortunately this did not happen to us while we stayed here. Getting to the hotel means having to cross the busy road again on foot, with your luggage, from the car to the hotel. The main reception area was in the former Goldsmith’s building, and the entire front of the shop house is dedicated to the reception. To get in the front door, you will need your access card, or the staff inside will have to let you in, if you have yet to check in. The central part of shop house is a courtyard with a spiral staircase going upstairs to the 2nd floor, and in the back is a sort of pantry area with dining table. Staircase at the back also leads upwards. We had booked a room at the back of the shophouse on the 2nd floor, as we were aware of reviews that rooms in front may have some street noise. The rooms are all named after birds, in line with the hotel itself being a “nest”. Our room wa

|5.16km from city centerWe paid 250 RM a Night for a room without a Window far away from the City centre. No Shops around to Buy water or a snack, only Workshops and garages for Miles, Next to residential Zones. The „retreat“ Faces a Wild Garbage disposal and Some wrecked Cars. Restaurants nearby close After lunch. No points of touristic interest nearby but many mosquitos around. Not Even a television in the room as advertised. The „nice Design“ consists of nothing But painted Concrete Walls. The room is Hot, tropical climate. The housekeeper is nice but doesn‘t speak English or knows the area at all. The Management was Not helpful and only Tries to lure tourists inside. Don‘t stay here, this is not worth your while or your Money and nothing But a total top-off.

|7.69km from city centerThe house same like in the photos. Towels, toiletries, hair dryer, iron and iron board provided. Wifi and smart tv also provided. All of it is good and nothing to complain. However, just brief info the parking lot is bit far from the lobby so need to walk a bit to unload stuff from car to lobby. Overall everything just nice and recommended. Location not that far from the attractions. There is laundry bar in front of the residence area. So it is quite helpful

|4.34km from city centerWhy glorify these dark alleys which look like the neighborhood where Jack the Ripper lurk for his next victim? The ”hotel” is supposed to be ”designer hotel”. It's a prison. Period. Full of hazardous corners and dangerous pits. Pool was so heavily chlorinated that the water stung. Door handle came off, stupid latch on the outside of the room, multiple key card systems that could potentially kill if a fire breaks. I almost got stuck in the common bathroom because the latch refused to budge when I wanted to get out. Sink at the common area was greasy. The reception was almost impossible to find. Do not take your elderly family members or small children to this hotel. I booked it coz I had no choice at such a short notice. Not worth the money either. Seriously, MPI should re-inspect that place and take back the accommodation license. Look at the ”barrier” from the rooftop pool to the ground below. No banister. It's lower than my knee if I stand next to it. One wrong move, you'd plummet down. Steps made out of metal grating. No safety yellow stickers to differentiate the levels. Totally NOT safe! Never again!

|3.04km from city centerIf you’re looking for a cozy place, a quiet environment, a nice lady with a happy smile who will welcome you to this tiny guesthouse, a clean and comfortable room, with the door that you have to remember to lock with a real key like in the old days, if you want to sleep surrounded by silence and be awakened by the chirping of birds, well, this is the place for you. The name itself and the interior decoration want to give a perception of old English cottage, although with a bit too many modern reproductions of old furniture. But it’s cute – and unusual. You can park the car inside – on a first come first serve basis. I was lucky to get the room at the first floor with the larger balcony. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the night silence helps having a perfect sleeping experience. They do not serve breakfast in the morning, but this is not a big issue for me. You can find places for that within a few minutes’ drive from here. That was my first experience there, just for one night. I will probably choose it again on my next trip to Ipoh.

|3.63km from city centerThe location very good. You can walk to many famous restaurants in Ipoh old town. All not more than ten minute, very convenient.
House is very big and bed is comfortable. But the smell from the sewer is very strong and extremely unpleasant. It helped when you close the toilet’s door.
Not much soundproof, you can hear other guests walking and chatting at the corridor. It can be quite noisy in the morning and night when people passing by.
The design of the car park is a nightmare. It’s octagon shaped - really challenging when you drive the car up to level 7 in one go.
The management team quite approachable. They will collect RM300 for damage deposit through credit card. And will return in 1-2 days after your check out. ( I haven’t checked if I received the return).

|2.3km from city centerThe room is just like the picture, very warm and clean. It doesn't get hot if the air conditioner is not turned on and the fan is turned on. Even before checking in, I sent an email to the store and called the Internet phone number left on Ctrip. There was no response. I could only contact Ctrip customer service. I was told that the store also contacted Ctrip to ask for our contact information. I don’t know why, but I left it online. What does information do? I feel that this is not very convenient. It is recommended that those checking in must contact us in advance, otherwise the check-in time will be delayed. If you drive by yourself, there are free parking spaces in the apartment building. Take the card given by the store and hold it up at the door, and it will automatically lift the parking lot. Many apartment hotels in Malaysia have similar operations. You just need to contact the store in advance via WeChat. They will send you a bunch of check-in information, but some of them are all in English.

|4.26km from city centerTo the room: We have changed the hotel on the day of arrival and have not even sleeped there, the “match” is stone hard, the bed is very small for two people, the mosquito network is still too small to close it, You heard from the neighboring room every single noise and word, there were cages in the bathroom. For booking: The booking via the hotel website did not work because the payment could not be completed. We sent a mail and then had to transfer the amount in advance, with a transaction from a Swiss to a Malaysia account of course taking a few days. (Of course, it was our mistake to enter us at all.) Although the amount was entered in our account and the transaction was completed, the hotel has claimed until the end, The payment was not received from them and we had to pay cash again on the site. The transfer was to return them as soon as it arrived on the account. The contact on the site at the very sporadically occupied reception was through a young employee who spoke poorly English, the mail traffic with the manager, etc. But then the answer to mails was only sporadically. The money has not been transferred back to us so far.

|3.2km from city centerThe overall feeling is average, the price/performance ratio is a bit low. The room is very small, and two people can't stand at the same time when the suitcase is placed. The shower water is very small! When I went out, I asked the front desk to help clean up, but when I came back, I found that nothing had been done.

|4.08km from city centerIpoh Concept Services is a very basic service apartment that is linked to the Ritz Garden Hotel in Ipoh. The location is in the centre of town, but not exactly where all the famous eateries are - it’s about a 500m-800m walk away. The hotel parking is very narrow and limited, but it’s relatively well lit and safe. The room is well maintained and the water pressure in the bathroom is excellent, although the room is a little dim and more lights would have helped. There is also a couple of pubs directly behind the hotel hence you do hear loud music at night till about midnight. There is also a swimming pool and a very small gym - with no treadmill. Overall though, this was a pleasant stay for the price we paid.

|7.72km from city center Before check-in, you need to contact us to find out where to get the key. The other person speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay. There is absolutely no problem in communication and the service is very good. The door where the key is taken is locked, so you cannot come out from the entrance. Someone must be outside to open the door. So don't close the door when grabbing the key. The three-bedroom apartment has a hygienic and comfortable environment. There are two swimming pools downstairs, an adult pool and a children's pool. There is also a large playground. The blowing vents of the air conditioner are facing each other, so the clothes on the terrace will dry quickly. Although it is a remote area, there are many delicious food nearby. The most recommended thing is that there are many restaurants on the opposite side, turn right, among which there is a buffet-like restaurant with self-selected meals on the side of the main road, and there is also a small stall with Guiling paste which is delicious and very cheap. Turn left on the main road and there is a bakery with delicious donuts.
