Edinburgh
|0.93km from city centerGreat stay at this hostel! The front desk staff are super friendly, and the rooms and bathrooms are very clean.
Minor cons: the 3rd - floor sink is too small with a push faucet, but i notice 1st floor sinks are great. And breakfast have limited items. Still, it’s clean and easy to find, and I’d happily recommend it!

Edinburgh Old Town
Edinburgh
|0.48km from city centerI stayed at A&O Edinburgh Hostel during my trip to Edinburgh and had a solid experience overall. The location is excellent — right in the city center, within walking distance of the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and plenty of pubs and restaurants.
The hostel itself is clean, and relaxing after a day of exploring. The staff were helpful and friendly, but it took a while to check-in.
Rooms were basic but comfortable, especially considering the affordable price. Bathrooms were shared but well-maintained.
If you’re a budget traveler looking for a central, convenient place to stay in Edinburgh without fuss, A&O is a good choice. Just be prepared for the usual hostel vibe—shared spaces and some noise.
Would definitely consider staying here again!

Edinburgh Old Town
Edinburgh
|0.44km from city centerI have stayed at The Court before and really liked it, especially because of the location – it’s very convenient and central. However, I feel the recent changes have made the experience less enjoyable.
The space is now smaller, and unfortunately, the kitchen has been removed. There used to be areas where you could cook, eat, and hang out with other guests, which made the place feel more social and flexible. Now, that is no longer available.
It’s also not allowed to eat inside the rooms, so if you don’t want to order from their kitchen, there aren’t many options left. For me, this was disappointing because one of the best parts before was the freedom to prepare your own food and enjoy it in a shared space.
Overall, the location is still great, but the new rules and reduced facilities make the stay less comfortable than it used to be.

West End
Edinburgh
|1.78km from city centerThe hotel location is very good, very close to Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street, it is a little far away from Royal Mile Street, but can be reached on foot, the town is very suitable for walking.
The hotel implements unmanned management, and you can open the door and the room door yourself according to the password you check in. We are a family of 5 staying with children and living suites. The rooms are large and clean and well-equipped. You can cook your own meals. Tableware and pots are fully equipped (but I do n’t see a microwave). We are accustomed to the British diet. The house even provides equipment such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines, which is in line with our home habits.
The price is slightly higher, but for the case of five of us, it is still a lot more cost-effective than booking two single rooms, especially it is really good to be able to cook by ourselves.
In particular, we need to remind everyone that the hotel will send you an email 7 days and 1 day before the check-in, which will contain the room number and password for the check-in. If you booked on Ctrip, because they may have booked through other channels, the reserved mailbox is not ours, we cannot receive the mail, we must contact Ctrip customer service one day in advance, get this information, and then Can stay. Because the apartment is unmanned, it will be inconvenient to communicate if there is a temporary problem.

|1.64km from city centerWhen you arrive on the first day, you need to call the person in charge. The B&B is not always occupied. The bathroom needs to be shared and the water pressure is very weak. The heating will suddenly disappear at night, but the price is affordable, there are many clothes racks, and there is free drinking water.

New Town
Edinburgh
|1.19km from city centerAdvantages:
1) The location is very good, just on Princess Stree, not accessible from the train station and the castle;
2) The view outside the window is very good, facing the church, you can see Edinburgh Castle, the night view through the glass is quite good, you can refer to the scenery in the photo;
3) As a hotel apartment in the room, the kitchen equipment is basically complete, and friends who love to cook can use it with confidence;
Disadvantages:
1) There is no Reception, there is any problem ~ can send email communication or call communication, we arrived at the hotel and found that the Access Code can not open the door to enter the room, ~ can call the office to communicate, customer service can also help you solve the problem on the phone, No one will be sent to the scene to solve it. Note ⚠️: Entering the first floor gate and the room, you need to enter the activation time of Access Code, Code at 3 pm on the day of check-in, and the expiration time is 11:00 am on the day of check-out. That is to say, you can't get in when you arrive at the hotel before 3 pm on the day of check-in. Because your Access Code is not activated, the input is invalid, and you can be obediently accompanying your beloved suitcase on the street. Check Out time is 11 am, and the cleaning staff will put the cleaning tool at the door of the room early, waiting for the moment you leave the room to clean up.
2) There is no elevator, it is really not easy to carry luggage upstairs, it is recommended that single ladies do not try unless there is no luggage.
3) The sound insulation is very poor. I stayed for two nights. There were no guests in the next room on the first night. I felt acceptable. I didn’t receive too much alarm at night. The next night, there were guests in the next room. They talked and opened the door. We can hear clearly on the footpath, and the sleepy little friends should have a psychological preparation.
4) The noise outside the window is very loud. The window of the room is facing the road, and the siren of the ambulance can be heard no less than ten times a night, and it is particularly harsh. In the evening, there will be a group of drunk people who are loudly ”showing their heart” downstairs, walking a wave, and coming again. No less than five waves a night. It didn't quiet down until 3 a.m.
5) Toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided in the room, and there are no disposable slippers. It is recommended that the friends who are going to stay bring their own.

Edinburgh
|1.21km from city centerA little bit expensive than the expectations. The location was ok, bus and tram stops included. The cleanliness can be improved. The reception was a bit busy when arrived since it was a student accommodation, so the efficiency of check-in cannot be guaranteed. All in all it’s average

|1.13km from city centerThe hotel is in a good location, not in the downtown area, but the bus is very convenient. There is a bus directly to the beach. You can visit the Britannia. The landlord's wife also has a discount card. The bus to the city is also very convenient, and it is very convenient to go directly to Princes Street and museums. The host is from Hong Kong. The wife is very beautiful. She speaks Mandarin and speaks softly. She is super young. The environment is quiet, and there is a large Tesco supermarket not far from the east. Edinburgh is beautiful and you can live here again.

West End
Edinburgh
|1.5km from city centerMy recent hotel stay was a bit of a mixed experience. While the hotel was clean and well-equipped, there were several issues that detracted from my overall satisfaction.
Before arriving, I had communicated with the hotel via email and was told that they could be reached via WhatsApp. However, upon arrival, I was unable to get a response from the hotel on WhatsApp. Additionally, there was no reception area, and check-in had to be done over the phone, which required multiple long-distance phone calls and extra fees.
The day before check-in, I received a last-minute email from the hotel requesting a deposit, but they did not provide any information on how to make the payment. Not all of the staff were willing to provide assistance, but the last person I spoke to was patient and helpful, which allowed me to check in smoothly.
One major safety concern was that there was a step outside the bathroom, but the floor was not marked, making it easy to trip and fall. Another hazard was the transparent coffee table in the living room, which caused several stumbling incidents that could have led to injuries.
Overall, while the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the issues with communication, extra fees, and safety hazards detracted from my experience.

|0.13km from city centerBecause the travel plan changed, we booked a hostel at short notice. You know, it's not easy to book such a cheap bed in Edinburgh. The place is not difficult to find, but the stairs are small and it's difficult to move luggage. The toilet and bathroom are small, but they can be used. Breakfast is provided, and you can cook for yourself. It's very close to the station, and there are many shops nearby, including McDonald's.
I left my headphones there, so I asked the customer service to contact the hotel, and finally they were successfully sent to the next city we went to. In short, thank you very much to Ctrip's customer service, and the response and service of the hostel are also very good!

Although it is not far from the city center, it is convenient to take the bus. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the princes road. bus stop in 2 minutes.
Only the entrance is a squat, don’t look at it, recognize the long stone lane, and write spylaw bank house
The room has an English villa feel (because the hotel itself is converted), it will make you feel that you have your own room.
Very recommended.
