My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Melbourne such as Crown Towers, the Langam and the HFrom$107

It’s an old hotel and needs upgrading. Pool area is a disaster, dull and ugly. Very outdated decor. Hallway dark and gloomy. The bedroom was worn out. Bed head material was coming apart. Not a 5 star hotel and definitely not value for money. There are much newer and cheaper hotels in Melbourne with better amenities.
The one thing that was fabulous was the breakfast. Amazing variety, wonderful staff and lovely ambience. The location of the hotel is also great and convenient as it is close to amazing restaurants and bars. The pillows were also comfortable.From$183

The only shortfalls - My room did not service on the first night and requests took more than 20 minutes after second follow up calls. However, I appreciated the Duty Manager organizing the amenities and ensuring my room receives service on the next day. However, the next day I placed a card on the bed to request changed linen. But linen did not get changed, glassware has been removed from the room and did not replenish tea bags. Took 3 times to get it right. Positive side - i love design, location and cleanliness. It is a very challenging time for the hospitality industry to hire the right person for the right job. keep it up good work - Housekeeping. I hope my next visit will experience better service. Stayed in Fabulous room for 5 nights. Room was spacious and clean, but disappointedly without a view as our room was directly facing the service apartment Oaks Melbourne on Market. Bathroom was big too and a nice pleasure to have a bidet toilet. However, the basin was too shallow and it was difficult not to wet the vanity top after each washing of hands or brushing of teeth. Toiletries came in very small bottles, unlike the jumbo sized bottles that we had enjoyed at our previous hotel in Hobart. Bathtub was a bit narrow for a plus-size person to have a good soak. Great location with tram stops nearby and many eateries around the hotel. Pool is opened 24 hours, great for a relaxing dip or swim after a long day of activities. Service provided by front office and breakfast at restaurant Lollo was generally good and prompt. The only gripe of our stay at W Melbourne would probably be the inconsistent service provided by the housekeeping team. The team seemed to just clean and make up the room but didn’t have the initiative to replenish any empty toiletries bottle. Often we had to call the service line and asked for replenishment. There was once before leaving our room for our day tour, we had explicitly checked that we had switched off the privacy button. However we received en email from the hotel at about 4.30p.m informing that the housekeeping team couldn’t clean our room because the privacy light was switched on. How could that possibly happen when we had already made multiple checks making sure that the privacy light was really turned off?! Then on the next day, we came back to our room after shopping at about 4p.m, thinking to put our purchases in the room and rest a bit before heading out again. However to our rude shock, our room wasn’t tidied up at all. Overall, it was still a good stay due to its convenient location though the housekeeping team still has room for improvement.From$193

I must say the location is 10/10 as its just a block away from southern cross station. We took the airport skybus and took a short walk w our 2 toddlers to hotel to and fro with our 4 check in baggages with ease.
Coles” also across the street with tons of food options nearby. Its also within free tram zone so another great plus for us! Our rooms came with Continental breakfast. Selection during breakfast wasn’t great, but kids and us weren’t fussy. Our room smell a little stale when we check in initially but most times we were out and about and after a while, not as noticeable. Generally a fuss free hotel with great value. Certainly hope to be back soon!From$92

Location is good, about 10 minutes from Southern Cross Station and Skybus to Melbourne Airport. There are also tram stations nearby to some tourist attractions, as well as supermarkets, restaurants, etc. The room is generally fine, though some rooms of the same room type look smaller due to its configuration. We used the 24h private carpark that the hotel recommended, but was double charged by both hotel and the carpark itself. Initially the hotel staff wanted to refund the lower charge which we declined, and we had to spend some time and effort to get the manager to help settle with the carpark. Most staff were more approachable, while there was one or two who did not seem interested. Luckily, the issue was resolved in the end.From$51

The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Melbourne near the Spanish Quarter, Bourke Street Mall, and other shopping precincts. The staff are friendly and efficient at check-in. The rooms are good in size with modern amenities and comfortable beds. There is a kettle and small fridge. The bathroom has a bath with a shower, so if you have mobility issues, it's not for you. There is no rail to hold onto when getting in or out, which makes it dangerous, especially as it gets slippery. There is a pool and gyn which were modern and accessible. The room we had faced into the mezzanine of the hotel so you dont get any light from outside, which was strange. The room was very quiet and had a good air conditioner. Overall, we would stay here again, although the lack of being able to see outside wasn't ideal, and if you stayed for more than one night, it could be an issue. From$121

Stayed here as a Diamond Ambassador in an iconic suite - Check in experience was great, warm welcome, benefits acknowledged and welcome drink provided. Amazing room, ridiculous amount of space, comfortable bed, great little office/working area. Unfortunately, the general level of service/care factor is lacking especially when staying in a room costing over 1k a night! One of my complimentary water bottles was open/used and about half empty, yuck. Later that day I wanted to use my $25 credit on the minibar 200ml bottle of gin (which is listed as inclusive of 4 mixers). Gin was missing from the mini bar I couldn't find it. Called down to reception to ask if it was by request, they assured me it should be there and would send someone up. Waited 2 hours and no one came which frustrated me as I was waiting so called down again and was assured someone was on the way. Someone did arrive with a huge bag full of everything except the gin. When questioned didn't seem to know what I was talking about, I had to point to it on the minibar menu and was met with a very confused expression, he left. Then about 30 minutes later a different person arrives with the gin bottle, success. However upon checkout there were a bunch of mini bar items charged which I hadn't consumed, and in fact were not even missing. I hate having to have that conversation but after only 3 words they were ”happy to remove them” which makes me think this isn't an uncommon occurrence. I later noticed that the mixers were charged as well where as they should have been included with the gin purchase cost, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time to try and sort it out. Club lounge service was attentive but did fill up and get quite busy in the evenings however my drink was always topped up and the staff there were friendly and engaging. Temperature control seems non-existent in the room and I'm convinced it makes no difference what you set it to. I had my do not disturb on until mid morning, so as I was leaving for the day dropped by reception and said I may have missed housekeeping and could they have someone make up the room. Arrived back a few hours later and it hadn't been done. All up a real mixed bag here, but can't help feel my simple requests were a bother and inconvenience. From$192

I stayed at the Sheraton because it was surprisingly cheap for the location and star rating. I soon found out why. The sleep quality was not the best - I woke up with a head and neck ache one night and painful for dry eyes the next. The check out experience took the cake though. I was told that “for security reasons” they can only take chip-and-pin payments with a physical card. I was also told this was “standard for all Marriott hotels”. These are blatant lies: I have used tap payments at Marriott hotels on five continents, most recently at a Marriott in Australia just last year. Tap and pay hadn’t gotten less secure since 2022! I’m so used to paying on the phone I’d forgotten the PIN on the physical card. After some arguing I was allowed to swipe-and-sign. So secure! What offends me isn’t so much the backwardness, but the lies to dress up the backwardness as a benefit rather than just cheapness. Never again. Oh and I’m here posting this review again because it turns out negative reviews don’t get passed through to Tripadvisor.From$149

The room was clean and not noisy. At short notice we needed to extend our stay and Manager Michael was able to find us another excellent room. From an accommodation point of view, the room rate was reasonable, the beds comfortable, the shower was hot and the room was clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was really convenient to go to Pelicans Landing restaurant and bar without needed to go outside. Well done, we will definitely return

There was a knocking sound coming from the ceiling all night which was similar to Indian water torture, needless to say, had hardly any sleep. I approached the front counter in the morning to ask about the noise and was told that management are aware of the issue and they've had tradesmen checking it out. Apparently it has something to do with the new heating system in the games room and there is nothing that can be done about it. I asked if I could change rooms but was told it happens in all rooms, it wouldn't make a difference.
Poor form Night cap, this should have been conveyed when the booking was made.
The cleaners came through twice and on both occasions left the fridge door open which let my drinks warm up to room temperature. The first time it happened I had pizza in the fridge which had to be thrown out. These people couldn't even make the bed properly, leaving the sheets screwed up in the middle of the bed and just covering it over with the doonah.
Never again will I go to a Night cap venue, it's obvious they have no care for the paying customers.

Instructions on how to find the building were minimal and not clear so it wasn’t easy to find while dragging bags. The apartment wasn’t set up as requested - we had booked for five people and we had to hunt for the linen etc. The air conditioning was faulty. The modem wasn’t switched on and despite signs not to touch it, we were told to turn it off and on! The dishwasher wasn’t on and the power switch was really difficult to access. We had multiple requests to the staff and responses were dismissive and rude. We would not recommend staying here as the area was deserted on the weekend with barely any food options.

|5.93km from WilliamstownEverything about this place says Motel, not 5 Star Hotel. Lack of housekeeping - our room was cleaned twice in 7 days and not well. We eventually got fed up and asked for clean towels. When we were at reception checking in, there were other guests complaining about their dirty rooms. Fifth restaurant - the breakfast buffet was terrible. There was no omelette bar or even a basic pancake machine. No option for included barista-made coffees either, which is a minimum at any “5 star” hotel. Strato restaurant - we booked this for a special occasion. There was zero recognition of this. They put us at a table beside the kitchen door and in a corner with no views despite a good corner table being empty the entire time we were there. We waited 30 mins each for 2 courses and we’re still eating 30 mins after the 2 hour allocation. The ambience was constantly disturbed by the kitchen yelling “service please!” Only upside was the extra bread and free mocktail they offered us, I assume due to the slow service. Slow lifts - we had to allocate an extra 15 mins to our departure whenever leaving the room. Poor service - as per already stated, the service was very poor if you compare it to any other 5 star hotel. It was average if you think you’re at a motel. Additionally, because they were training staff, service at the lobby bar was ridiculously slow. We waited 15 mins for them to serve 2 wines. Reception also ran out of vouchers (part of our package) and told us to come back later and say “we forgot to pick up some of our vouchers” rather than acknowledging their error. Location - we knew this going in but it is a long walk into the CBD and you need a Myki card because the nearest tram stop is outside the free zone. In summary: Avoid this place if you are looking for luxury. We booked this for a special occasion and were sorely disappointed. The only good thing is the views from some parts of the restaurants.

Had dinner in our room great price and very nice…sirloin steak and the burger plus dessert…paid $50 extra for parking and breakfast…brekkie was superb…fresh and choose what u would like…we will be back

Accor still gave us a a top floor room with a stunning view and the usual free drink vouchers, which I didn't expect since I didn't book with them. The room was clean with the aforementioned good view and had every thing you need for a short stay. Improvements would be a coffee machine instead of simply a kettle, and a better Chromecast as the one we had just wouldn't work. These are minor issues though. Lifts were very slow, as only one seemed to be operating. Breakfast was efficient and tasty, although the included coffee could be improved and the extra charge coffee was too cold to be enjoyable. All in all an excellent hotel to stay at if you need to stay in the South Wharf end of Melbourne, and we will certainly stay again.

Don’t stay here if you are driving - as no proper space for you to load off your luggage and the parking is 300m away- charges is also not cheap if considered is outskirts of town area.
Hotel lobby- nothing to shout about and the services is just normal- it definitely can be improved. Room look ok for the price we paid- while all the other was normal - including the breakfast- nothing to shout about and is definitely below my expectation since it’s bearing the name of Sheraton

Excellent location, very calm and quiet, next to a Tram Station, free ride to several places in the city, including downtown, walking to the Docklands and the Marina. The room was comfortable and specially clean, great king bed, nice shower with good amenities. Amazing infinity pool with a great view, sauna and a equiped fitness center. The breakfast has great quality, excellent food and beverages. The highlight are the staff, very attentive and friendly, the general manager Mr. Christian, is always available and present. One of the best lounge in Marriott Hotels. The M Club has a super nice atmosphere, excellent options for food and drinks, excellent wines and a chef in the morning preparing a very good breakfast. Congratulations to Fazeel and his team, they are ALL spectacular. I recommend André I'll be back. Thanks to all the wonderful human being from this elegant Marriott Hotel.
