My friend and I booked two nights at Villa Arte months in advance and stayed one due to an issue with management. I will review the facility and then share our issue with management for our fellow travelers’ awareness. The room was clean and staff were very friendly, kindly helping us to learn a Macedonian phrase or two. Two downsides for me were the shower water was, at best, not cold and the wifi signal was intermittent to poor. As for our issue with management, we were told upon arrival we would be getting an upgrade for one night (the room looked like the one we booked online so not sure where the upgrade was) and then needed to move to a separate property owned by management, specifically Bakal Apartments, due to what I thought were ‘shifting’ reasons. We would also receive a US$20 credit. We looked up the other property before accepting this and went by it. The value of the room there plus the credit did not match what we reserved and prepaid for at Villa Arte. Further, this is a very different property, one that we would never book. We advised staff that we would stay one night and then would like to check out the next day, receiving a full refund for the second night. This was accepted and we did promptly receive a full refund the next day upon check out - closing on a positive, which was nice as this was the beginning of 10 days of travel for us through the Balkans.

We really enjoyed our time at Mr Bogdanovski’s guest house which located right in the main town area, walking distance of less than five minutes to Lake Ohrid. The Bogdanovski family was very helpful with information and insights about what in town to do and how to do it best. Overall, the room was clean and orderly and everyone was helpful with any problems we may have encountered. I would highly recommend staying here while in Ohrid!

So, I was here for three days. It's located on the Ohrid lake, by the cost of the lake. Hotel is small and I wouldn't give it 4 stars, but for 3 stars its ok. Staff was nice and helpful and everything was clean. In the room we had tv (old big one) but with various chanells, mini bar (that didnt work), airconditioning which worked hot or cold, table, bathroom with shower and everthing and a balcony with table and chairs on it. Our view wasnt great but only the few rooms in the hotel have great view in front - on the lake, and others are looking on the back of the hotel and other houses. Everything was clean, they gave us clean towels, mini soaps and everthing. Wifi is free and its working fine (in rooms and in a lobby), but could be stronger when you re in your room. Breakfast was great. It had fruit, vegetables, sausages, eggs, bread, butter, ham, bread, cheese, some kind of pastry, tea, coffe, orange juice.. The hotel is 10 minutes of walking from the city square, 5 minutes from the store and its surundet with coffee shops and restaurants.. Everything was great so would return.

This dated communist era hotel could not be beaten for location in a prime spot overlooking Lake Ohrid, once inside it all went downhill! We were part of a group and on arrival were allocated rooms, all were supposed to be lake views, ours wasn't, we had a dull grubby room in need of refurbishment, overlooking the carpark. There were no curtains to draw at night just bits of fabric hung each side of the window, the bathroom had an unwashed shower curtain hanging in the bath, when showering the water was very slow to drain away so the filthy curtain hung in the bath water. When I got out of the bath after a very bad shower the dirty water was coming up through a drain plug on the bathroom floor. The electric plugs were hanging loose from the walls. Our tour manager was on the case immediately and did get our room changed but only for another one overlooking the carpark but at least it was a bit cleaner although we couldn't lock the patio door onto the balcony. The dinner on the first night was awful. Nothing was covered or kept warm, there were lots of flies, food was inedible, the tables were not set we had to help ourselves to cutlery, on that first night there was just one elderly waiter. There were no drinks on offer not even water. After we all complained the food and drink did improve a bit but was never good. Most of the staff with one or two exceptions were surly and unhelpful. The the newly opened spa was 5 star, the hotel was not.

The hotel is located directly on Lake Ohrid, approx. 10 minutes by car from the city of Ohrid. There are no shops or bars around. Large beach with sun beds, also at the pool above, with a wonderful view of the lake and the sunset. Since the house used to be a hotel for meritorious employees of the factory "Granit" during the Communist area, some renovations would do well. The rooms are medium in size, mine had a view of the large parking lot, others have beautiful sea views. Staff endeavours. Very good buffet breakfast, dinner rather average with only a few local dishes. Since the house is booked for larger celebrations on weekends, it might get louder then (music).

All the guys at this lovely family run 4* hotel are going out of their way to meet and exceed Your expectations! We were a group of runners, attending the Skopje Marathon, so the entire hotel was "ours". The owners did everything to accommodate us, from early breakfast, to late check-out, extra towels... I could go on and on about them. The hotel itself is great, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the rooms are more than spacious. The breakfast was excellent, and varied from cold meats, cereals, fresh salads, cheese, tea and coffee freshly made... The location is a about 20 minutes walk from the city, and its a pleasant walk to the city, so if your not a "walker" - call a taxi - its cheap in Skopje - the fare is about 1.5 EUR per way, and the front desk is always glad to call a cab.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The Gold theme is slightly quirky but it is the hotels unique selling point. The hotel was spotless clean, the rooms were serviced daily and the staff were polite and friendly. It is brilliantly located a minute’s walk from the Old Bazaar and it is just a 5-10 minutes walk through the old town to the modern city centre. Skopje’s tourist industry is young and there are things they should do to improve this and I suggest the learnings need to be applied across the hotel industry too. Overall we thought the hotel was perfect for our three day stay in Skopje, would recommend it.

Stayed one night in Park Hotel & Spa. The location is excellent adjacent to the river and a short 10 mins walk to central Skopje. However I find the hotel is in a need of upgrade as it has begun to run down. Bed - comfortable Room ambiance - slightly darker than I like. The room was warm as there is control to the room temperature which was a bit uncomfortable for me. Bathroom & toilet - hand shower not working only the overhead shower. This is very inconvenient. The toilet bowl wobbly. Really needs to improve. TV - unable to switch on. Does not know how it really works. Amenities in room is very good Breakfast - very good spread especially the eggs, cheeses, ham, bread, etc. Definitely this hotel need an upgrade

The room was clean and spacious. There was a Plasma TV and in the bathroom a bath tube. We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was plain, l mean no fruits or varities, but it was enough. However, dinner was excellent, a big meatball, salad and fried patatoes and a sweet. lt would have been better if they had served a drink with them. My overall impression is good. You can prefer this hotel comfortably.

I travel to Skopje on a yearly basis and stay for over a month. My wife is Macedonian and we visit her parents. When there, my life is very connected to the Aleksandar Palace. I do not stay in their rooms but join the gym and eat regularly at the Tennis Club. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. Special thanks to Dejan for always treating me like a king in the restaurant and also to Katrina and Robert in the gym. It doesn't get better than that. I even had special requests for the restaurant and the operations manager assisted in ensuring those were followed. Friends that have stayed at the hotel say that the rooms are excellent. Great value for what is offered. A great place to hang out when in Skopje.

I stayed here in March 2019 for one night as part of my trip around the Balkans. The hotel is in a great location right in the centre of the old town and next to the Bazaar and lots of little shops and restaurants. The man on reception was very friendly and welcoming. The room was basic however it was really clean and the bed was comfortable. For the price this was an excellent option. I would recommend Motel Atika to anyone visiting Skopje. Skopje is a great city which is currently going through a lot of modernisation and work.

1st let me start by saying the employees of this hotel are absolutely amazing. Numerous times they made suggestions on food, places to go, or helped with getting transportation. All of the recommendations they gave were spot on. Pece, one of the employees that works at front desk and bar, was a pleasure to converse with. He also made some great suggestions on local food, wine, and rajika. The hotel itself is right in the city center, making it so easy to go anywhere by foot. Very clean and the free breakfast is great. When we left one of the girls 5hat worked at the front desk, gave both of my children gifts. This was the cherry on top of an amazing stay.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us advices regarding local restaurants, bus tickets and bus timetables, excursions etc. The free walking tour they recommended was the best, we enjoyed it very much. The location of the hostel is not very central, but it's still reachable from the city center within 10 minutes by foot. The free breakfast wasn't anything special, but it was tasty and enough. The WiFi was fast and worked reliably all the time. The heating of our room worked very poorly. We had to choose between sleeping in cold or having the air conditioner switched on the whole night (which means a constant noise and unhealthy dust that normally comes with operating the AC). Once, the showers didn't have any warm water although it was only at about 9:30 pm.

If you want to be right in the heart of things in Skopje - so much so that you have a close-up view of the rump of Alexander the Great's horse on the main square from your window - then this place is one of your best choices. Pretty much all of the museums, galleries and other sights you'll want to see in the city [centre] are within an easy stroll of the B&B's front door. We'd booked a Junior Suite with Balcony for our two-night stay in Skopje, so were nonplussed to find ourselves in a room with many beds and no balcony. The confusion was soon sorted out when the lady at Reception explained that a problem with the suite meant it wasn't able to be used at the moment, so they'd offered us a bigger room instead - essentially a free upgrade, albeit without the perk of the balcony. Still, the larger room certainly gave us plenty of space. It would have been a good idea nonetheless to explain the situation as soon as we checked in. We were upgraded to the Superior Quadruple Room, which has a double bed and two singles. There's also quite a lot of shelf space, although only one place to hang things on just three coat-hangers - not a problem for two people, but perhaps a tad limiting if there were four people in the room. A large desk has tea/coffee making facilities on it and a minibar next to it, and throughout the room are plentiful and varied forms of lighting. Windows are curtained but also have roller-shutters. There is a safe for guest use, but only a generic code for it which they'll give you at Reception. A key is also offered, but I couldn't see any keyhole to put it in. The lady at Reception said we could change the code if we wanted to, but since she was new she didn't know how and would have to check. We made do with the generic code. For such a spacious room, the ensuite was a little pokey, but mostly because the door into it and the shower door open in the same direction. Otherwise it was nicely appointed, with the large, stylish sink catching my eye immediately. Plenty of towelling is provided, as well as two bathrobes. The shower was nice, with reliable temperature and water pressure, but the shower door not closing properly made for a sodden bath mat and a hand towel being pressed into service to replace it. The smell from the drains wasn't great, but that's not the hotel's fault. The bed was comfortable, with good pillows. The only covering was a duvet, which seemed excessive in theory, but with the windows closed at night and the air-conditioning on was fine. Mind you, after several attempts I still couldn't work out how to adjust the air-conditioner, which showed as being stuck on 18° but clearly wasn't; whatever it was set to was OK for a relatively comfortable night. The shape of the room means the TV at first seems awkwardly placed above the desk, not in direct line of sight of any of the beds, but it has a swing-out arm to point it towards anyone watching. The hotel WiFi is perfectly OK, at least for one or two se

Stayed here one night in April 2018. First overnight stay in Bitola Small hotel (14 rooms) but the rooms were spacious and clean. Very friendly and helpful owner/manager who speaks fluent English. He cooked us a small breakfast the next day with fresh eggs he had collected early that morning in his family house outside Bitola. Can’t get it fresher than that. Not a luxury hotel but nice and with central location, some 5 minutes walk from the big pedestrian walk “Shirok Sokak”. Not expensive. I paid 50 euros for my room where I slept alone but where there were three beds. A great plus is the parking possibility for ca 5 cars in the backyard of the hotel. Otherwise difficult finding place to park your car in Bitola.
