|0.59km from city centerThe first thing we noticed on entering our 3rd floor room, was the stunning view and balcony. However, this was dampened on opening the balcony doors due to the noise from the road in front of us. Clearly the main road in the area. This will not suit people looking for a lake view + serenity. Having said this, the hotel is good value and barely 10 minutes walk to the lakeside via some lovely public gardens. A supermarket is also 5 minutes walk for those wanting to stock up for picnic lunches. It was a short, flat walk from the train station and similar into the main Bavano town. The room did not have a mini fridge. The other downside was that they switched off air-conditioning in September and switched on heating. The temperature during our stay was still high (from a Britsh perspective) and we would have enjoyed the option of aircon. Especially at night where the desire was to keep the window closed to reduce noise. We asked for, and were speedily given, a fan - which helped. Breakfast was ample and the staff were friendly. The rooms were kept clean and you could see a pride in the hotel. No tea/coffee maling facilities in the room, but this seems common in Italy from our small experience. Overall we found the hotel to be be very good value for money and enjoyed our 3 night stay.

|0.42km from city centerGreat location on the water, lovely grounds, there is some splendour and grandeur and even a surprise sideways elevator here - which is a trip! We booked a reasonably priced comfort room for two, which turned out to be in the conference area waay in the back of the hotel - known here as ”mountain view” - which on the second floor means a view of some brush and unkempt grounds. Room was clean, but very dated and cluttered with massive furniture, and really needing a reno and basic hotel mod cons like sufficient USB and electrical plugs. Wifi is capped and so-so. Even the pillows seemed deflated. And there was some kind of unnamable pervasive floral scent that had us airing the room out the whole time we were there. I woke up in the night to find great huge centipede on the wall. Yeah. The breakfast was good and on par with what you'd expect in a big hotel. There's a nice big outdoor pool but we didn't try it. The hotel parking is ”self” and unattended but ample and easy, especially for Italy. Staff was attentive and helpful, but somehow lacking. We had a messy cleaning cart parked right in front of our room the entire stay, and some common areas and stations inside and outside seemed understaffed and abandoned. Which makes the 5 percent service charge they quietly tack onto your bill at check out really a stretch. Just ask if it's mandatory and you will find it is optional. Maybe the hotel is still suffering the lingering effects of the covid downturn. And maybe the main part of the hotel is in much better spirits. I really wanted to like the Bristol. I really wanted to happily pay the service charge. This stay left me wishing I had seen the Grand Hotel Bristol in better days - it must have been really something.

This Hotel is beautiful, quite grand but in a friendly way, the interiors are classic light and airy make the most of stunning views across the lake. The reception team are very welcoming and friendly and we were greeted like old friends. They very simply and efficiently organised a private water taxi for us to tour the lake and the islands with a lovely skipper who dropped us off and picked us up as we wished. It saved so much queuing on the Islands and we could follow our own timetable. It cost €100 for the both of us and was worth it. We had dinner one night on the terrace over looking the lake which was fabulous. Beautifully presented melon and their local cured ham which was sweet and delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection and my husband’s perch fresh and tasty. The restaurant team were both efficient but fun too. A lovely evening. Our room was one of their corner suites which was roomy, light with two balconies on the 5th floor so again wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. It had everything we needed including a welcome bottle of Prosecco. The only hiccup was a small bathroom incident when I got stuck in the toilet! The sliding doors that separated it from the main bathroom got jammed and there I was. Fortunately there was a phone on the wall so I tried enough numbers to finally attract the attention of reception who responded immediately and I was released. This clearly needs looking at and was not fixed during our stay but the Hotel from management down were apologetic, understanding and could not have done more apart from take the bathroom apart which I’m sure they will do now we have left. This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful place inside a charming and well run Hotel. Swimming in the lake was sublime, warm, calm with sun beds a few steps away from the water. If you book a suite the use of the Spa is included however at this time of year the lake is perfect plus there is an outdoor pool. Thank you Hotel Splendid.

Additional cost for the deep garage parking place of € 19 /Tag, in a few parking places on the hotel area, is already sporty especially when booking,
As far as I remember, it is not expressly mentioned and no hidden costs would be expected. So look carefully.

We appreciated the cleaning and friendliness of the staff, but above all we appreciated the kitchen of the structure , we took the menu to the paper appreciating every range, especially the cherry with cream to the safferan, to be perfectly cooked and cream as a very good combination. We met Chief Vincenzo who, with sweating and tired, came close to exchange two talks.good Vincenzo and all the staff of Villa Carlotta will certainly return and ask if we can still have a portion of branzin at the Safferan cream!

Al llegar al hotel pedí que quería tener la oferta relax total que figuraba en la pagina web. En la mima décia desde 1399 Euros por lo que di oor obvio que ese era el precio para 3 días ( publicidad engañosa, sin necesidad.). Pensando que este era el precio me dijeron en el chek in que no podían generarlo ellos, debía subir al Spa para arreglar con la persona de ahí. Subo al Spa antes de hacer chek in; y le muestro a la persona la oferta a lo que me dice que si la podemos tomar. Me dice que lo debo arreglar en el chek in. Bajo a chek in y hago la gestión por el programa Relax Total. Después de un buen rato me dicen que esta ok y les pido para pagar toda la estadía. Siempre hago de esta forma. Cuando voy a pagar cada habitación ( eran 2); me dicen que el total de ese programa eran 1799 Euros en vez de 1399 Euros. Les reclamo que en el Spa había mostrado la oferta y que me habían dicho que estaba ok pero me dicen que esa tarifa es para otros meses, no el que estaba en curso. Yo ya le había dicho a mis acompañantes que tomaríamos ese programa. Estaban todos ilusionados. Pero al enterarme que valía 400 Euros más de lo que decía en la página inicial tuve que cancelar. Pedí para hablar con el Gerente y este me dijo que no iba a hacer nada; no siquiera una atención por haberse equivocado cuando subí al Spa ( que ellos me mandaron) y le mostré el programa a la chica, la que me dio el ok. Un Gerente que no sabe tratar a un cliente. Yo tengo empresa y si me pasa eso busco una solución. Ellos alegaron que si yo ponía la fecha me arrojaba el precio que decían ellos. Cosa que era verdad. Pero entonces , porque me hicieron ir al Spa para arreglar la oferta? Y si la chica me dio el ok cuando le mostré el precio y el programa; no deberían haber aido flexibles ? Que necesidad tiene el hotel de hacer publicidad engañosa ? La verdad que el hotel es espectacular. No tengo nada que decir respecto a sus habitaciones, las piscinas , el Spa etc. Todo es de primera. La cena que tuvimos ahí no me gustó. Cara y porciones muy pequeñas. El resto todo de primera. Aconsejo que cambien la forma de promover estas ofertas Igualmente recomiendo el hotel.

Great people who worked very, very hard every day to support their clients. Our room was classic and the view was tremendous. . Massive bathroom and massive bed. Had great aperitivos on the patio (when it wasn't raining) and a dinner with Nonna's lasagne on our last night. Highly recommended for a romantic get-away in Lake Maggiore. Which in it self is worth a week.

The gardens upon arrival were stunning. The old-world exterior is very well-kept and allows you to take a historical trip back in time. Receiving Staff – When I arrived the staff was so warm and inviting. I like that they did have young adults at the front desk. They were super excited to have me and very knowledgeable. Everything I thought I might want they were there to make the arrangements. From a private boat service to dinner with the GM that gave me an amazing culinary experience to included true interaction with the head chef and kitchen staff. My every wish was their command. Room Configuration – My room blew me away. It just happened to be in my favorite color pallet lavender. Large room with a beautiful balcony facing the amazing Lake Maggiore. The bathroom was so spacious with a jacuzzi tub which I took advantage of and a large sitting area. Turndown Service – This was the standard service with the pillow removal and robes and slippers with bedside towel and water and sweet treat. Breakfast – This was an experience in itself. The food was so fresh you could really appreciate the pure taste of each item. The was such a large variety of things to choose from. I could have spent half of my day there dining. Seated on the outside terrace again overlooking Lake Maggiore and the stunning gardens make for a quaint esthetic. Hotel Location – I initially was intimidated about how to get to this property. After speaking to the concierge and they provided several options I decided to go with a private car service. This allowed us to see several of the sights along the way. When I left, however, I did decide to try the train service back to Milan. It was very simple the train station was only 1 min from the hotel and the train ride was 1hr and the cost was 14 Euro. |1.6km from city centerWe visit Intra on a regular basis to catch up with family and have stayed at hotel Ancona on each of our last 4 visits. We keep coming back because each visit is such a pleasant experience. You can not get a better location overlooking the lakefront and near the ferry terminal and the main square. The rooms are generally a good size with all needs catered for. We normally stay in the apartments which are larger but cheaper than the lakefront rooms and more suited to a longer (7-10 day) stay. Even though these rooms don’t have a view themselves you can sit out on the front patio, overlooking the lake, for breakfast and in the early evening (or anytime you want). Breakfast is definitely a unique offering with fresh orange juice squeezing machine, blocks of chocolate, real honeycomb, as well as a good selection of more standard offerings. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and you see the manager at breakfast most mornings checking up on how things are going. Highly recommended and certainly better value than the bigger hotels in Stresa.

We also had one dinner at the Michelin restaurant celebrating my wife 60 birthday with our «kids» coming from Norway as a surprise. The hotel offers the unique combination of a very nice family hotel close to the railway station and a top restaurant. You also find that the quality and attention to details from a top kitchen also is a part of everything in the hotel. Very friendly and entusiastic straff and owners. All in all one of the best hotel experiences i have had!

The positives, the view from our hotel room was to die for, the breakfast, pool and porters staff were super helpful and friendly, plenty of hanging and cupboard space for clothes, location excellent. We paid over £260 per night for our room. Negatives, the room and bathroom were too small, the toilet was behind the door so you had to walk in, close the door so to get to the toilet. A bit difficult during the night as didn't want to wake husband by putting the light on. There was no room to rest you toilet bag or toiletries in the bathroom. The walls were very so could hear next doors every move, cough, sneeze, toilet flush, baby crying the last 2 nights etc. Rooms could do with an update as dated and carpets a clean. Reception staff pleasant apart from check out. We got our invoice, asked a question, no eye contact what's so ever. Not very helpful man, we paid, said thank you and no acknowledgement AT ALL in fact wasn't interested at all. Thought he was an owner but was told he was an employee. Not good for the company! Let the reception desk down big time. We won't be staying there again. Would rather pay more and stay at the one next door or even further down as they also had entertainment in the evening but not the Astoria. The staff (except this man at reception) made our stay.

We were in Brig in Switzerland at the time and had been looking on the internet for a hotel near the lake in Stresa. We booked this hotel and what a great hotel it is, it's beautifully decorated it has nice sized comfortable rooms with balconies and it's 2 minutes walk from the lake and front of Stresa. The big bonus for us was that it also had underground parking which was great for us as we were are on a 6 week touring holiday on our Motorcycle. The staff at this hotel are so helpful and pleasant to talk to it just makes the stay even better. We will definitely recommend this Hotel to our friends if there thinking of coming to lake Maggiore everything about it was perfect for us just a great place to stay.

The bed was not the best, and as with older hotels, there were some ”charming” things to consider. We turned on the little lights on the ceiling, and they blew out. The bedside lamp had a frayed cloth wire with the metal exposed (I have not seen such a wire in probably 50 years). We reported these issues, but it was a weekend. I expected the lamp to be replaced because that's definitely a fire hazard, but no. Anyway, it's a pretty place, the air conditioning worked well, and it's a five minute walk to town with its many restaurants.

|0.11km from city centerHo trascorso alcuni giorni in questo hotel con la mia famiglia, restando subito colpita dalla bellezza dell’ambiente, per gli ampi spazi molto curati sia all’esterno che all’interno: ci ha accolto un giardino con un prato verde e rigogliosi alberi fioriti, e ci è venuto incontro personale gentilissimo che ci ha portato i bagagli in camera e ci ha indicato il parcheggio dell’hotel. All’interno, bei salotti arredati con eleganza e guarniti con piante e fiori freschi, e una sala da pranzo piena di luce grazie alle pareti tutte a vetro, affacciate sul giardino. All’ultimo piano, una grande terrazza da cui si gode la splendida vista del lago e delle sue isole. Sul dietro c’è una bella piscina che in primavera non è ancora fruibile ma che d’estate sicuramente offre un piacevole refrigerio. Ci siamo sentiti coccolati e abbiamo trovato disponibilità anche da parte del personale di sala (abbiamo usufruito del trattamento di mezza pensione) pronto a venire incontro alle esigenze dei miei nipotini di uno e cinque anni. La posizione dell’hotel è ottima, vicina al centro e al lungolago, e in particolare a due passi dalla partenza dei traghetti per le isole. Insomma, consigliatissimo!!!!

|2.17km from city centerIch habe im November 2023 das Hotel zwei Nächte von Freitag bis Sonntag besucht. Ich kenne es seit ca. zehn Jahren und bin fast alle Jahre ein bis zwei Mal pro Jahr dort gerne abgestiegen. Sauberkeit, Küche und Service habe ich stets geschätzt. Das Hotel hat auch ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Nun aber hat sich vieles verändert. Am Samstag Abend war für uns Hotelgäste das Restaurant ohne Vorankündigung geschlossen. Mit zwei grösseren geschlossenen Gesellschaften war die Küche offenbar voll ausgelastet und alle anderen Gäste mussten auswärts essen gehen. Am Samstag Abend war das Restaurant dann für uns offen und das Abendessen war recht gut. Samstag Nacht: Im geräumigen Keller des Kreuzganges fand eine Party statt. Ich hatte ein Zimmer im ersten Stock mit Blick in den Garten und leider auch schräg über dem Kellergewölbe. Die ganze Nacht lang bis zwei Uhr morgens ertönte laute Musik gemischt mit unprofessionellem Klaviergeklimper, sozusagen in einer Schlaufe. Ich habe ganze vier Stunden geschlafen. Sonntag Morgen: Beim Frühstück war das aufgeschnittene Weissbrot stark angetrocknet, es stammte wahrscheinlich vom Vortag. Auf dem Tresen stand eine ziemlich neue moderne Kaffeemaschine. Cappucino aus dem Automaten: Anstatt mit frischer Milch arbeitet die Maschine mit Milchpulver. Der Cappucino war schlicht ungeniessbar. Auf Verlangen hin bekamen wir dann aber frische heisse Milch. – Das Wochenende hatte ich mir anders vorgestellt. Seit ca. zwei Jahren hat das Hotel ein neues Management, das mit durschschlagendem Erfolg daran arbeitet, den vormals ausgezeichneten Ruf des Hotels zu zerstören. Mich dauern die langjährigen Angestellten an der Reception und im Service. Das Rezept des Managements ist offensichtlich Gewinnmaximierung um jeden Preis, völlig egal, ob dabei Gäste und Stammgäste vergrault werden. In Italien eine Kaffeemaschine mit Milchpulver zu betreiben ist eine Todsünde und eine Beleidigung für die kulinarisch hochstehende Region Piemont. Dem Hotel empfehle ich, wenn es seinen ehemals guten Ruf behalten möchte, das Management dringend auszuwechseln und von schnöder Gewinnmaximierung Abstand zu nehmen. We had two rooms with a beautiful shared balcony and the most amazing view - sunrise over the Borromee islands on Lago Maggiore. Great location, close to the motorway and a one hour drive to Milan if you want a change of scene after sightseeing around the lake. Breakfast was quite copious and a great start to the day.

Staff all very helpful and friendly with good English. Ample selection at buffet breakfast, continental and bacon and scrambled egg available. Very clean in all areas. Great location, across from the lake, near the ferry station, lots of restaurants and little shops nearby. Double glazing kept the room quiet from street sounds. Others have commented on lack of soundproofing but we had no problem, once or twice heard next doors shower running but only when in our bathroom. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again if I return to Lago Maggiore. We were in room 104, in the Stresa part of the hotel.

They inform us that, although they have already changed the classic room in top, these rooms are not available and they recommend a “de luxe” with a surppreciation of €70. We accept and find a clean and spacious room but with furniture now used and the floor covered with moquettes. Air conditioning doesn't work. We don't stop for dinner, but only for breakfast. The cakes have been purchased in the supermarket and anyone who wants yoghurt must satisfy the natural cakes, without any choice. The room was cleaned in the rooms and a lady was happy to pass near the tables with a stick and a motion.

We booked the restaurant Al Storno, which is run by the hotel as a separate restaurant and it was very good - highly recommended. Disliked · The bathroom fixtures were in need of renovation, specifically the shower cubicle frame had corrosion around the metal joints and didn't easily close or open, and the wall fixtures for the shower head and hairdryer were poorly finished - lack of attention to detail. Some of the light switches in the room didn't work, but this wasn't an issue for us tbh.
