"Booked this as a stop over on our way back from Cornwall. The room was reasonably priced, with a very comfy bed, nice bathroom with Elemis toiletries, and despite storm Dennis raging outside, was quiet and offered a good night's sleep. The leisure area was ok. Felt like lesuire centre than a spa , but everything was working, with a very hot jacuzzi and nice sauna and steam room. We ate in No 18 bistro in the evening and the service and food was very good with reasonable prices. I found the layout inside a bit percular however with sofas scattered in amongst dining tables where young children could play around eating crisps while others had evening dinner. Maybe the restaurant could be more distinct from the bar area? Anyway, overall we had a very good stay despite the weather. "
"We attended a great leap year wedding. The setting was nice looking onto a golf course, the rooms for the wedding ceremony and the reception were beautifully set out and the staff were friendly and efficient. The main courses felt like they had been held a long time before serving, but it's never easy when trying to feed over a hundred guests all at once. All in all, a good experience"
"We had a fab few days with the lodge in excellent condition. It was a shame that our week was curtailed but roll on next year. Well done St Mellion for making our stay so good. The lodge is always, spacious and feels like home."

"I wanted to review the Hanneford Point, firstly because the hotel is so good and more important how fantastic all the staff are. For anyone looking to stay on either a short or long break in the Looe area, this hotel has it all. Good sized rooms which are super clean and have amazing views of the bay. A great spa with pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and childens pool. Plus a wonderful area to go to relax and chose from an extensive menu of treatments. The two Sophie,s worked their magic for us as a group of 7 family members. Leaving us all feeling super relaxed and de stressed. We arrived to a delicious prosecco cream tea, beautiful scones, so light to eat, warmed and served with strawberry jam and cornish clotted cream. A chilled bottle of bubbles which we followed up by trying some of the different gin and tonics served at the bar. Breakfast was also very good and service excellent. We had also booked in for the Sunday carvery which didn't disappoint, With an abundance of fresh vegetables and choice of 4 meats and vegetarian option well found our favourite combination topped with a huge Yorkshire pudding. Thank you to all the staff, Jon the manager who assited us in the most professional way, Jo on reception who looked after us, the two Sophie's who again made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The restaurant team all taking care of guests and serving delicious dishes. I sadly never met the housekeeping team but want to congratulate them on how clean and fresh the hotel is. I can highly recommend the Hanneford point hotel and we will look forward to our next stay."
"An overnight stay last night in one of our regular out of season haunts. Our favourite room has had a soft refurb along with others in the hotel and was cleaned to an impeccable standard. Sensible CV-19 precautions complimented by efficient, friendly staff made our overnighter a real pleasure. My sweetheart was delighted with the new decor and waxed lyrical over the bath and copious hot water. The pool and jacuzzi were a real treat after a stiff walk from Polperro back to the hotel. Dinner was very filling; and breakfast a real feast. Staff are flexible vis a vis the order in which the various components are delivered which was the icing on the cake. Great to see familiar faces still there (Phyllis!) Good value, outstanding views from our room (420); cheerful hard working staff - a place to relax and really enjoy Cornwall. Don't miss this hotel out!"
"We stayed for a big birthday 🎉. Wow what fantastic service. The room was beautiful clean. With a fantastic view. The food was served hot and very quickly. Sophie went above and beyond her role. In the current situation we are in at the moment all covid rules were in place. Thankyou everyone at Hannafore for making my big birthday soo special. Can’t wait to see you all soon ♥️"

"I must be a hotel snob because I was expecting a mediocre 3 star hotel when we booked our Parrys Internationals coach trip! I had read the trip advisor reviews prior to going - I think the people who were not very positive were staying in a different hotel to the one we visited! Or maybe they find fault for the sake of it! How wrong could I be? Nothing mediocre about the Portbyhan Hotel. The staff were all absolutely lovely. They couldn’t do enough to ensure that you were happy and comfortable. The food was good - and awkward eaters (like me) were accommodated without qualms! The Portbyhan Hotel was probably one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever been in! I can usually ‘nit pick’ about bathroom cleanliness - but not here! The decor in every room was spotless too. No marks on walls etc. The position, overlooking the river was stunning and the sunrise spectacular. Also perfect for ambling across the river, into the backstreets and down to the beach. Absolutely faultless! Thank you."
"Travelled to Portbyhan Hotel in October for 6 days with Parry's International. We had a balcony room which was well worth the money. Excellent choice of food which was always piping hot. Service by the staff was excellent. The staff were friendly, professional and always on hand if you needed anything. Covid precautions were also excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anyone, also a big thank you to Parry's. "
"Thank you Portbyhan for making our trip one of very happy memories to keep. A very covid safe relaxing stay. Travelled with Ellen Smith Coaches. Our room was ideal with a side view of the harbour. I enjoyed watching the fishing boats sail in and out with the tide. Loved the complementary cream tea on arrival & easy check in. The meals were delicious & plenty of choices. Staff throughout the hotel were very covid aware & friendly. We hope to see you all again soon."

"I was bought for Christmas some tickets to attend the gin tasting session run at the hotel which they call gin 101 and seeing as there is no time like a rainy January evening, we booked in for Saturday last. The session started with learning about the history of gin, what it's base ingredients are and the variations that have emerged over the years. We tasted a wide range and styles which were explained and narrated expertly by Jack who really knows his gin! He was able to demonstrate how mixers and garnish can hugely affect the taste and drinking of gin. Towards the end of the session we tasted the two gins made at the hotel itself (very yummy) and got to see the still itself which is in the main bar! Jack was welcoming, interesting and really welcomed our (slightly rowdy) group. After the gin 101 session, and prompted by the seriously tasty canapes during the session, we ordered main courses (to soak up what turned out to have been rather a lot of gin, we didn't have to drink it all but hey). The food was really good and very reasonable prices. The chef had managed to provide dinner for us despite the large function happening downstairs and other diners in the restaurant. I would highly recommend booking in for gin 101 - it is great fun and having been a gin drinker for many years, i learnt more than i thought i would! Thank you to Jack and the team at Eagle house :-)"
"If you are looking for somewhere to have a nice meal in Launceston, look no further. This week we stopped by the recently renovated Eagle House Hotel for a meal. We were quite pleasantly surprised. Everything was perfect. We ordered a range of different dishes including chicken, fish, pasta, and dessert. It was all absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and to top it off we had a wonderful view of the surrounding area towards St Stephens. The Eagle House Restaurant deserves to be a success. We will most definitely return. If you are in Launceston, or anywhere nearby we highly recommend that you visit."
"We have just had a lovely meal at the Eagle House hotel. We both had the hake which was the fish of the day. It was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious sauce and vegetables. The restaurant and bar were both clearly busy and all the staff coped very well. They were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout the evening and my husband's garlic intolerance was catered for."

"We enjoyed our stay in the hobbit house even in the rain and cold! It was cosy and warm with the heater provided! We like walking and have never been to this part of Bodmin Moor! So cool having cows and sheep hanging around and being so close! We enjoyed our meals of roast pork and steak! Lovely puddings too! Then sat and chatted by the roaring fire! A warm welcome and a very friendly bar manager and female owner who brought us books of local walks to look at. The shower/toilet block was warm and functional! We’d book again! Thank you :)."
"Arrived after a very heavy storm and was up graded to a suit with underfloor heating which was a beautiful surprise, great treat and much appreciated. Food was outstanding as always and friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to please. Great views of the moor and the fireworks across the town. Highly recommend and value for money. It’s on the moor so there are animals and the mess they leave which is to be expected so wear sensible clothing"
"After an initial disappointment on the terrible driveway to the hotel was surprised at the welcoming, friendly, hotel, bar and restaurant. The whole experience was down to one person, Charlie, the ambassador for the place, who made you feel instantly at home and part of the family. The room was comfortable with good beds, a well-appointed bathroom with good showers. We had the continental breakfast which was good quality including offering their own jams. Well worth the out of the way location."

"We stayed here on the 17th & 18th January 2020 as we were visiting the Eden Project. We booked a Superior Family Room through Booking.com. The 2 nights, B&B for 2 adults and a 12 year old came in at £158 Bed & Breakfast rate. The hotel is easy to find with access just off the A30. The hotel is part of a sprawling golf complex with some rooms in part of the main clubhouse building, and others in nice, stone built, “lodges” dotted along the entrance driveway. Check in was easy and the receptionist was very pleasant, friendly and welcoming. We were given Room 16 in “Willow” lodge. This was a short walk back through the car park and a little way back down the driveway. The room is nicely decorated and well appointed with a massive double bed (very very comfy), a small anteroom with bunk beds and a nice bathroom with a modern suite, a corner bath, and a walk in shower with one of those funky “rain” heads. The linen and towels were clean, fluffy and fresh. The windows overlooked a nice green area and a hedgerow where rabbits played in the mornings. Even though it dropped very cold in the evenings, the room was toasty and the heat was easily controlled using the thermostats on the radiators. There was also plenty of hot water. The room (and the whole complex in general) was very clean and looked to be well maintained. The maid service did a nice job of making up the room for our second night, as well. Breakfast is served in the restaurant inside the main clubhouse building. Nice open views though the massive windows. Bright and airy, and the staff were lovely. Good, plentiful selection of hot and cold buffet food. The sausages were delicious. All in all a fabulous place to stay. We were very pleased to have found this place. The only thing that was out of place was that the shower gel dispenser was empty in our room. I’m sure they would have refilled it if we had asked though. The bathroom fan was also a little noisy but we just used the light over the mirror (the fan comes on with the main light and stays on, on a timer, for a little while after you turn the light off) It’s worth noting that the entrance is on a dark road, but is well signposted. The way to reception, from the carpark isn’t signposted, and if you get a room in one of the lodges at the end of the driveway it would be a bit of a trek for breakfast. Also, the double bed in our room was 2 large “singles” clipped together, so you get what can feel like a big gap between the two sides. Didn’t bother us though. "
"Whilst I have been to this destination numerous times before I thought I should review my most recent trip. I organised a trip for eight of us to play golf and enjoy a short holiday. Covid rules were in place so on arrival there was a sanitizer station at the entrance and signs instructing the wearing of a mask in reception. The entrance to the bar area had a wait to be seated sign and the track and trace cards which had to be filled in prior to going in. Once seated table service was the only way to be served. We had previously organised ourselves into bubbles of four. Every day we were asked to fill in a Menu choice for the evening meal. I have to say that the staff were excellent during the whole of our trip and the food was top class. The accommodation has been recently upgraded and was superb. The golf course was in magnificent order with difficult rough for the out of position shots and the greens were difficult to read and quite quick. All in all a fair test of ability. CONGRATULATIONS to Trethorne for a top class effort. I highly recommend this destination. 5 Stars"
"After a 5 1/2 hour drive in bush traffic, We loved the friendly welcome from Sarah, who also brought us our food later ( the biggest cod and chips we’ve ever seen in our lives & husband was given a huge cooked breakfast!) Cat and Georgie were also helpful at breakfast & Lynda & the Hotel Reception team answered all my queries very efficiently, before we arrived. The room was spotlessly clean, lovely comfortable bed, huge TV, big soft towels & everything worked.Had such a good sleep. What a wonderful place and the staff are very special - amazing service. We only had a one night stay and wished it had been longer! Great value and probably best UK hotel we’ve stayed in. Would we come back? In a heartbeat."
