Top 10 Ashfield Park Hotels

I highly recommend Darcy's if you are visiting the city or Olympic Park. 5 minute easy walk to Homebush Station, or 10 minutes to Strathfield Station (which has more regular trains to the city). The hotel is simply a beautiful place. Our room was huge with comfortable chairs in the sitting room. Fridge in the room and 24 hour continental breakfast (with plunger coffee) were a nice touch. Darcy's is definitely on our ”we'll be back” list!

We had a dinner nearby, and lucked in this hotel. Not sure it is a new building or completely refurbished, but everything bright and shiny. Underground car park entrance from rear lane way. Can’t reserve, but called ahead and was assured low residency. Park in the first one you see, hard to turn around if you go to the bottom. Room was good, as expected. Marble flooring was cold, bring thick socks. $10 for pre-booked breakfast for two is great value - gives a limited bit very good menu and a hot drink each. Friday night ground floor restaurant was busy and loud music. Not a quiet lounge. Didn’t try the rooftop bar. Room x01 was that the back of the hotel, with unexpected views from Chatswood, North Sydney, the Bridge, and the City.

After reading so many bad reviews about The Urban – I decided to stay there to debunk some of these fussy reviews after being told by a friend that this hotel is after all, a great and very cool boutique hotel. I stayed at The Urban recently on a Saturday night to attend a gig on King Street. Firstly, the location of this hotel is convenient and fantastic! The Urban, situated on Enmore Road of course is close to the heart of King Street, and even better the venue I was going to was only a few blocks up, not to mention the hotel is surrounded by an array of shops, restaurants, and cafes along Enmore road too. So once you park - easy walking is your friend and access to everything that is cool in Newtown is there. For those expecting a 5-star Sheridan experience, this is not for you and maybe that is why you’ve written some of these harsh reviews. Yes, the rooms can be a little loud on and off from Saturday night revellers drunkenly walking past, however, I assume given the location you would be hard pressed to find any hotel that offers complete unbroken sleep – Newtown does not sleep after all, therefore, maybe Newtown is not for you. The Hotel advertises as boutique / Industrial style accommodation, and I believe that is what they offer. The Receptionist staff were friendly – the room was very clean with industrial touches (that’s the whole point of the cement roof, people!). The bed was fantastically comfortable (stayed in a King room), and I absolutely loved the artsy dystopian style greenery in the belly of the building that offered an obscure tranquillity while walking to your room. The Urban isn’t a break the bank cost for one night’s accommodation in this popular area of the Inner West. You will be paying for location, comfort, and cleanliness. I do agree however, the room should offer coffee pods to go with their coffee machine – just as The Urban’s amazing sister hotel The Collectionist did. All this and an 11am check out on a Sunday. This may not be your regular 4 or 5 star hotel. Let's face it, the rooms are pretty small BUT they're incredibly compact, extremely comfortable, well-presented and extraordinarily clean. In fact, the entire hotel is so scrupulously clean, I knew if my mother were still alive, she'd be declaring the floors so clean ”that you could eat your dinner off them”. Plus, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and professionally friendly. Situated very close to Sydney University and RPA Hospital, there's an express bus-stop to the city right outside the hotel's door, as well as a plethora of shops, pubs, cafes, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance. Onsite undercover parking is also available, but limited - so if you need it, book your space as soon as you can. In summary, Best Western Camperdown Suites is, in these financially difficult times, is indeed fantastic value for money.

Great location close to Strathfield Station and shops. Although a little basic, accommodation was comfortable and adequate. Service was friendly and great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for well priced accommodation.

My husband and I stayed at the General Gordon only one night on a quick overnight trip to Sydney. I was travelling in a moon boot and with a knee scooter and crutches after recent foot surgery, so we booked the queen accessible room. It was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the large bathroom was well equipped with a walk-in shower including a fold down bench, toilet grab rails and plenty of bench space at the right height. The room itself was fresh, modern and quiet except for the occasional plane on the overhead flight path (which you will definitely hear) and the bed was comfortable, but we did notice a couple of surfaces that had not been cleaned before we arrived. The staff were friendly and helpful, so overall a really good experience.

Small rooms, very clean, no noise from Parramatta Rd, secure parking. Individual air con units, windows do not open, doors open to an outdoor corridor overlooking a courtyard which is securely locked at night. All the usual amenities expected in a motel. I would have liked a second chair and a soap dispenser over the hand basin. In fine weather it would be a pleasant walk to the Haberfield restaurant *****. In pouring rain, it was an Uber trip. Buses run to the city along Parramatta Rd.

Excellent value, great location with light rail nearby and a great courtyard communal area for entertaining/ drinks with friends. Could do with a little bleach in the bathrooms. Would reccomend this motel.

Positives - Easily accessible bus stop right out front - ID and card details to check in so no annoying bond held - EXCEPTIONAL customer service!! The lady at check in was so warm and welcoming and made me feel like a valued guest which is so refreshing as having stayed in many budget price point accommodations over the years great customer service is definitely not the norm so I thank them greatly for that. - Excellent price point paid $85 for the night - Great standard of cleaning - Quiet - Microwave available in common area Negatives - The plastic stool was very short and uncomfortable. - No tea bags or anything in the room, says all removed due to COVID prevention but doesn’t really make sense considering everything e.g. soap bars, bed sheets, are all going to be handled and put in the room so how individually packaged coffee/tea is higher risk I don’t understand.

The service was great, the pillows and bed were the comfiest, the meal down at the dining room was a 4/5 only because Im use to a certain parmy not one with eggplant on it and it wasnt a tomatoey sauce it was different, the room needed a mini fridge though as we couldn't keep anything cold. Other then those couple of things it was a great stay.
