"After a long trip from Dubai, it was great to stay in this hotel. Nicely decorated lobby. Good welcome from the reception staff. Since we arrived before the check in time and no room were available, our luggage were kept aside. We went out for lunch and when we came back we were escorted to the room after being given some hot wine and cookies. Our luggage were already placed in the room. We were explained the facilities. We chose a vineyard view room that has a balcony and a nice view on the Vosges mountains and a caste ruin. From the balcony, we witnessed one morning the landing and take off of storks. (there are 5-6 storks nests just a few yards away from the hotel) . The room was well designed. The bed mattress, pillows and bed linen are very comfortable and of good quality. Nice touch with the alsatian cookies and miniature of spice bread liquor. Tea and coffee amenities in bags although I would have love to see an espresso machine. The bathroom is large and well designed. Good amenities but not replenished on the second day. Good quality bathroom linen. Peaceful room with no noise. The spa was very nice. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor balneo pools, well designed and good flow. Indoor balneo pool was good too but a bit noisy with the morning group aqua sport activities. I enjoyed the fact that their is a private time frame for hotel residents which make it more relaxing. Sauna and hammam were good. We did not use the F&B facilities as we really enjoy Alsatian food and had a bucket list of restaurants to visit outside of the resort but I check out the breakfast room out of curiosity and saw a very nice selection of items on the buffet (I do not eat breakfast unfortunately). They also have two other restaurants. The casino seemed to be very busy, just looked around as I do not play but could see that it is a popular destination. Free secured hotel parking that is separated from the casino parking. Overall a very nice stay in nice surroundings."
"We had a short tour of the vine road and visiter Strassbourg, Colmar and Ribeauville. On Ribeauville, my wife picked the Barriere hotel since it was my birthday and wanted to spoil me. I was not aware of the hotel services until we've got there. The moment we have arrived all things were great. The guy at the front desk was one of the best I've encountered. It was very polite and attentive to all details. The spa was looking great, they had also outside pools with warm water, all of them looking great. You could enjoy the beauty of the mountings from the outside pool or you could relax in the pool with underwater music, which I discovered by coincidence. The breakfast was also really good, with a high variety of food types. I would definitely recommend the hotel. Good job on management and stuff."
"We where in that boutique hotel in the start of the autom, the trees leafs began to get orange and the wine route was amazing beautiful. The hotel is great, the room is clean and big and fancy, there were even bose mini bluetooth. We ate breakfast in the village near by (ribeaville) and in the hotel resturant We ate dinner twice. The food was great, gourmet dishes. The pools were hot, clean and big. "

11 Place De L Hotel De Ville, Barr, Grand Est, France
"I’d like to advise anyone reading this, I’ve never provided a hotel review before. That being said the hotel and its staff deserve 5+ stars, as both were amazing. Upon arriving at our last minute reservation ( booked a little after 10 pm the same day )we were warmly greeted by a gentleman at the front desk( who spoke very good English ) and asked where we were from, etc. He then accompanied us outside and actively (ran) searched nearby streets and parking lots for us a place to park. Once back inside we were told we’d been double upgraded to the junior suite! Before helping us take our luggage upstairs, he gave us a brief tour of the hotel explaining its’ rich history. We arrived at our immaculately clean junior suite and were blown away by the original wooden beams and eclectic style. We will most certainly return for a stay next summer! "Thies very nice Hotel is situated in the very center of Barr in the East of France "Alsace" ! Tastefull refurbished old building offers a very typical and colourful place to stay ! The rooms are very comfortable and all in all very quiet despite the center city location. The restaurant is very good and offers a good choice of platters, all served by professional and friendly staff ! We were here in Corona time and they have managed this with care for the safety of all, well done !"
"We stayed in this modern hotel in the heart of Barr for two days. The hotel is clean, comfortable, the staff is gently and professional. We stayed at the hotel for a dinner and it was perfect! We also profited the spa with hammam, sauna and a pool, which are free for clients of the hotel, but we didn't try any option (massage etc.). Highly recommend!"

31 rue du Pinot Noir, Rodern, Grand Est, France
"We stayed for 3 nights during a biking trip of the area. Ideal location for setting out on day tours and for cycling through the vineyards to local restaurants. We enjoyed the peaceful location and ambiance which was, despite being relatively full, respected by other travelers. 2 negatives impacted our stay. Most importantly the very poor coffee at breakfast, which spoilt an otherwise splendid spread of local meats, cheeses and preserves. Secondly, the internet speed, which prevented video calls with loved ones in other countries. Only because it was my birthday!😃 You’ll not regret staying here if you enjoy peace and traditional style. "
"Loved this charming place. The pool and breakfast area is really nice and intimate with a lot of charm. Amazing breakfast with homemade and local products. Very friendly and helpful owners. The room where big and clean. The bathroom is missing some brighter light but that’s really a detail. The hotel has a salong with chess, kicker and pool table and a nice big sofa- very cosy. Local vine that you can take up to the room. Fantastic area. Can warmly recommend this amazing place- and hope to be back sometime soon."
"The three of us booked in this month for 6 nights; we ended up staying for 10. Rodern is conveniently in the middle of the most beautiful part of Alsace. The property was excellent. The owners marvellous. The breakfasts unmissable. I liked my big room and excellent walk-in shower. A completely memorable experience (and the sun shone for all 10 days)."

"I can not say that it was a bad stay but it just did not leave any memorable experiences. Breakfast was ok, there was fresh baguettes, toast bread, jam, fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice and a good selection of cheese. The bed in the room was comfortable but one could hear everyone passing by the door in the corridor. I think it just was the small things like i had to search the owner to have some hot water for my breakfast tea or that the starter should be the star of the three course dinner. The owners were not unfriendly but I just found them a bit disengaged. "

" Spent 3 days at Hotel Vaillant Sélestat. The location you can’t beat, you can walk to everything in the city center. The staff ( especially the people working at reception) are very friendly and always pleasant and attentive. The hotel is a small property, with a very warm atmosphere. Very good experience in the restaurant and breakfast and will return. »"
"This hotel is wel situated, a lot of parking places in front of the hotel where you can park until 9 am thereafter it is a blue zone. It is clean, has friendly staff and and the breakfast is of very good quality."
"My room had some furnitures removed in a hurry, as a result floor was not cleaned and lamps were left unplugged. No minibar, no complementary drinks/snacks, the bathroom had 2 cups and soaps. Fortunately, they remembered to leave some towels. Personnel had to double as waiter during breakfast, bar and check-in/out. I requested for a quiet room, and I was assigned one next to the street. Perhaps it was peak summer that the streets were almost empty."

25, rue du Ladhof, Colmar, Grand Est, France
"We stayed here for 4 nights. The room and hotel had some good and some not so good points. Overall we enjoyed it so I found it difficult to choose between 3 and 4 stars. Because of the relative high price I choose 3 stars because I expected more. Good: - We asked for and got a room with a balcony. The room was very small, but nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable. I think it was a room that was not renovated yet but that was okay. - Breakfast was good with fresh bread, croissants, cheeses, ham, etc. There was omelet and bacon. Fruit, yoghurt and muesli. Things that were finished were replaced quickly and the lady in the breakfast room was nice. - Parking in the street is free and there was always a space available close to the entrance of the hotel. - It is a short walk to the center of Colmar. - There is a nice garden at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately the weather was not so good that we could use it. Not so good: - One of the receptionist (young woman) was not friendly. When I asked for extra pillows she was very abrupt like I asked a strange question. The other two we saw during our stay were friendly though. - Our shower was in the bath, which means you have to climb into and out of the bath which I do not like and could be a problem for older people. - In the bathroom there was hardly any space to put your things and the daily cleaning of the bathroom could have been better. - Downstairs (reception area) smelt of cooking most of the day, probably coming from the restaurant kitchen. A better extraction of smells would be good."
"It's located very close to the city center, so in order to get to the Christmas market it's no need to get transportation, other than walk. The staff were amazing, and provided us a wonderful stay. We’ve been to 4 stars’ hotels with worst food conditions than this one. We enjoyed our breakfast, as they were very complete. "
"Before myself and my partner booked to hotel we cross checked some comments about this hotel with some positive and negative comments. At the end we stayed here and we are happy we chose here! The hotel just 10min walk to the city centre and staff are friendly here. The room is okay and the hotel is quite thoughtful with offering us a bottle of gas water plus chocolate in the new year eve! The price of the room is very reasonable considered it’s the peak season and the location. We were offered a room with a balcony also @ room 101. Happy to recommend this hotel! "

"Lovely, very large, older-style rooms and large comfortable beds; beautifully clean rooms with fresh towels daily. Our room faced the fountain in the square; delightful! Great breakfast with wonderful croissants, (note some of the best during our 2-week stay in France) arriving to the buffet warm and crispy. Staff were helpful and polite. Unfortunately we did not organise parking when booking and had to use the public parking with a parking disc. This proved NOT to be a problem as we were travelling around during the day and the parking was close by and free after 7pm."
"We stayed at this hotel for one night on one of the hottest day of the summer. Whilst there is no air conditioning, the staff had put a fan in each room which was greatly appreciated. The hotel is very well place in the centre of the town. It has a car park and a sitting area at the back. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, especially as my mum forgot some clothes which they immediately sent to her by post. "
"We have been in this hotel for a one night stay on the way back to Italy. The location is exactly in the center of the town. The room (2 adults and 2 children) has a fantastic view on the main square of teh city. Suggested 100% for families. I warmly suggest to book the parking"

Le Schnellenbuhl, Selestat, Grand Est, France
"We stayed 4 days here during a hot part of June 2019. The hotel is beautifully maintained and our room and the others we saw were elegant and included interesting stylistic features. There is a very good swimming pool and spa area which helped with several days in the high 30s. Our room had a loft (#9) which although beautiful I cannot recommend if the weather is hot, as the loft stays very warm at night. There is air conditioning, but it cannot cool the loft effectively. We actually pulled our bedding and slept on the floor below the loft level to stay cool one night. There are also a lot of stairs to reach this room. Breakfast is very good and presented in a lovely room off the "front desk". It is on the expensive given limited hot offerings. The restaurant is near exceptional and the chef is the owners son. It is beautifully decorated, and service is efficient. We had three different main courses as well as entrees and all were very good to excellent. Wine choices were very good and reasonable. On several of the nights there were organized get-togethers in the courtyard outside the restaurant. These sort of "took over" the area from the guests, but it is a beautiful setting and I can imagine its popularity for organizations. The location is outside of Selestat and on a main road, but it is very quiet at night. The owners-operators are very nice people who do all they can to help you with their stay. When we were there we appeared to be the only english-speaking guests."
"On arrival the hotel owner quickly showed us the room, but appeared rather disinterested ... no mention of the wellness area, where it is etc (normally the wellness area is the pride and joy of hotel owners). Booking was without breakfast, so we ordered breakfast for the next morning. Lovely breakfast, but at 16,-- per person we would have expected a warm breakfast to be an option, only continental, but very good quality. We didn't order brekky for the next day, but were told on departure that they had expected us for brekky... what now - room with breakfast or without ??? We weren't charged naturally as we hadn't ordered... The suite had two beds that drifted apart in the night so we needed to push them back together again several times. The air-conditioning was quite noisy, like an old fridge, we needed to switch off the fuse to get rid of the noise. The separate toilet room surprised without hand wash basin.... The bathtub serves as shower facility, but the showerhead could only be stuck into the halter in one position so the water would just splash against the shower unit and not the person in the shower... solution:like in old times- hold unto the showerhead and switch off the water when applying the soap... :-( .... The hotel is situated in a handy location just outside Selestat and was ok at the special rate, but would never be worth the 165,-- as stated on the price list in the room. Will we come back here again, NO, I don't think so... "
"I stayed at L'Illwald for three nights on a business trip, I must say the service which I received from Christian and the team was first class, the real personal touch. His staff were all lovely we all knew each other by name. As for the food and wine, wow, amazing. Also the pool was perfect and clean. When you walk about the place you can see that a perfectionist has put the place together, the fixtures and furniture is very high-end and it is very tastefully decorated. There was only one problem with Hotel L'Illwald, it's missing a few stars..."

57 Grand Rue, Bergheim, Grand Est, France
"We stayed for one night and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Situated in a beautiful medieval town La Cour du Bailli was very clearly the main hotel and restaurant in Bergheim. The rooms were clean and well equipped ( with a standing fan to circulate the air during the hot summer nights ) and the beds very comfortable. We were less impressed with the restaurant, which we thought was popular mainly as there were few other alternatives . The food was good, but in no way exceptional with too many menu items not available , but the main problem seems to be the lack of staff - about three waitresses - to serve the twenty plus tables. The table next to us waited at least 20 minutes to be served with their drinks and considerably more for their food. In summary - excellent accommodation and very good value for money at Euro 100 for bed and breakfast. But I would find somewhere else for dinner - even though this may involve a short 3 km journey to Ribeauvillle the next door village - as there are few other options in Bergheim. "
"Loved our trip, absolutely an authentic hotel to stay in. friendly staff and clean room. Big bed and clean toilet. It is walking distance to everything. Parking is nearby for free. For some it seem shabby but it depends on your own mood. You can't always stay in Dubai style hotel, otherwise why travel to Bergheim."
"Bergheim is a quiet village and an excellent start to drive all around the wine route in Alsace. The hotel was clean, warm and decorated according to its history. Parking is available only a few meter away. Excellent value for money!"
