" Hospitality: This is a great Relais & Chateaux accredited property that focusses on gourmet and wine connoisseurs, and delivers perfectly. Run by siblings Gisella and Heinrich, aided by Walt, the place has a unique charm about it. Very accomodating and hospitable owners. For instance, tea and coffee at 6:00 was too early because kitchen opens at 7:00. BUT: Gisella organised a kettle, three bags of tea each on a separate saucer, two cups and saucers, sugar, a bottle of instant coffee.... all laid out neatly in the bedroom. Otherwise, there's no tea or coffee machine in the rooms, but every evening they would provide tea, coffee, milk for the morning. The food: Heinrich is a self taught experimentalist who has perfected a large number of his creations. Walt calls him a scientist, not a chef and i agree. Mad scientist sometimes, says Walt. The flavours from local hillside herbs are delectable. Surely deserving the two Michelin stars they have. Talking to Gisella about history and family...charming. Wonderful personality. Far from the nearest village or shop, the property is secluded and calm and set in the midst of forest and meadow with hiking and walking being the main activity in these parts. And on clear days, one can get fairly impressive views of the Dolomites. The Suite: Pinewood used in the room and you get the fragrance the moment you enter. Sleep was most comfortable, either because of the pinewood smell or the mattress or both. Quite spacious, good view, and a large bathroom with walk in shower and bathtub. But separating a quarter of the bathroom from the bedroom is glass window that gives a straight line of sight from the suite to the shower and WC and bidet. For someone that values bathroom privacy, this is an uncalled for intimacy in design that would be found very intrusive. While i know that many hotels in recent years have opted for this exhibitionistic design, i would have preferred an option to the guest to decide on his/her choice by way of curtains or blinds or anything that matches overall design. Service staff at the restaurant are very cheerful, energetic (despite being there for breakfast and dinner, presumably with some rest in between), friendly and hospitable. However, sometimes it seems very regimented because they are supposed to announce every dish on the menu and this sounds very much like an automaton because they just repeat what is written on the (english language) menu which can be read easily. Perhaps they should be less formal and speak in a more casual manner, using their own words rather than a scripted text. Housekeeping staff that we met were very pleasant and friendly. But the ashtray in the balcony was not emptied and cleaned daily and drinks glasses were not washed during evening service. Overall, great serenity in the hotel as well as the surrounding location. Gastronomically delightful cuisine, wonderful owners and staff, pleasant room. "
"We were looking for a place to escape to for three days post a hectic trip with friends and family. Wanted a spa but not an Adler which is packed with too many other guests. Chose this place given the Michelin star ranked restaurant and the ability to hike from the hotel doorstep. Ten rooms so very quiet and serene with the restaurant full every night. Restaurant spectacular with the presentation of food up there with Narisawa in Japan. Food was excellent, ate at the restaurant three nights and did not get tired of the menu as the chef made sure to change each evening including a more hearty meal after a 22 kilometer Dolomites hike which the hotel was nice enough to arrange. The staff and owners were incredibly nice and attentive. Rooms were fine. The new jacuzzi at the top of the spa has a dramatic view and we had it to ourselves both days. This place is a fair drive up into the mountains but well worth it. "
"Terra is in a perfect remote location if you are looking for wonderful hikes in the Alps, serenity and incredibly delicious and innovative dinners at their restaurant. And breakfast-wow. You are served multiple little courses. Staff seem sincerely happy to be there and it shows through the service. Rooms are sizable and quite comfortable, and mine had a nice balcony with reclining lounges. That being said, I spent most time outdoors. There are huttes scattered around the well marked hiking trails to stop and enjoy a hearty lunch. I will be returning."
