"We were allocated a room next to the lift and as we are both light sleepers I called reception to ask to be moved. This was so easy and well taken care of, someone came by the room with a new keycard for the quietest room they had, and directed us where to go. Great start. The room was clean, well decorated and had plenty of space. Lots of lighting options, big tv and excellent blakout curtains. The bathroom had two sinks and a heated floor - excellent touch! We briefly visited the spa which was very busy. There was plenty of chairs/loungers though which you don't always get at other places, but I wasn't keen on all the kids splashing around. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and I particularly liked the allergens labelling, very helpful. Cornflakes were gluten free which we've never seen at any other hotel and we've been to a few! Usually you'd have to ask which means making a bit of a scene and no one wants that at breakfast time. If I had to give a negative it would be the staff member behaving awkwardly near reception who gave me a card with his name on and asked me to leave a review mentioning that he'd helped me - but he hadn't helped me at all and I didn't need anything! Also, I think all the meekats might be a tad too much. Otherwise, it was a good stay and I would recommend. If we were ever in the area again and needed a bed for the night, we'd definitely come back to this place. Lovely grounds, interesting history."
"Myself and my partner stayed here for one night and it was absolutely amazing! We stayed in the deluxe double room overlooking the lake it was beautiful. The staff were amazing and so friendly and attentive, they honestly couldn’t do enough for you from the receptionist to the waiters at dinner and breakfast. We had dinner at the club lounge restaurant and it was beautiful. Very tasty and such good portion amounts! We had the most relaxing stay, it was a special occasion and they gave us a card and made Swans with rose petals on the bed. It was such a lovely touch. The spa was brilliant to, we went in the afternoon and also late at night when it was quite and it was very peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone for a fantastic and well needed break."
"Visited for a weekend for golf for the gents and spa for the ladies. Room was modern and spacious. Great attention to detail. Had breakfast both mornings, food in Browns both nights and grabbed some bites for lunch in the bar lounge. All meals were excellent and good service to go with it. The course was great and bearing in mind the awful weather we have had, was in a great condition. Loved the driving range, hitting into the lake. Just a shame my golf wasn’t in such a good shape. Too many individuals to mention that have great service over the break but Gary the GM has a team to be proud of. Looking forward to hopefully going back when the weather is better. Thanks for a great stay, Lee"

"I stayed at Cottons for a reflexology CPD training day. I arrived a day early so I would be relaxed on the day of training, and travelled back the day after, giving me 2 nights at the hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by the receptionist who managed to book me into my room straight away, even though I was early. This early check-in gave me the opportunity to take full advantage of the spa facilities. Again, I was warmly welcomed at the spa and given instructions on the facilities. The Spa is obviously a big hit with locals as well as hotel residents as it was pretty busy. Not busy enough to be classed as crowded, which was good, and I was able to access the different areas with ease and felt greatly relaxed when I returned to my room. I had booked in for food in the restaurant and made my way to the bar for a few drinks before sitting down. The bar staff were lovely, attentive and ready to refill my glass when it was empty. It was no trouble to transfer my tab over to the restaurant when I was ready to eat, and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal I ordered. My first mornings breakfast was acceptable, a little disappointing to find the 'hot' food not so hot, but apart from that it was fine. After my full day of CPD, I decided to eat in the restaurant again for my evening meal. Unfortunately this experience was not as pleasant as the first night. My starter was fine, however my main course was barely warm, a little like the breakfast from the morning. I informed the waitress, who offered a replacement meal, however I had been so eager to eat it before it went truly cold, I was half way through my plate and certainly couldn't have managed another, so I declined her kind offer. She did however, remove the price of my wine from the meal by way of compensation. Pip, the waitress, deserves a mention for her outstanding attitude and great attention to my needs on both nights of my stay. A couple of things stood out about this hotel that I thought were excellent touches. Having filtered water as well as 'daisy' the milk machine at the end of the bedroom corridor, meant not having to endure the usual awful in-room UHT milk cartons as well as having fresh water for overnight. The bed in my room was very comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. With the exception of my second meal, my entire stay was very good and I would recommend this place as somewhere to relax, unwind, and receive excellent service from really friendly and helpful staff."
"The booking for our educational group fell through and Cottons came to the rescue. I’m so glad they did. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn’t do enough for us. It is seldom that I’ve come across such a professional, welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the communal areas shone. The food in the restaurant was very good and the one night I couldn’t eat in the restaurant the food was brought to my room. From the taste of the food they have chefs that can cook not just reheat chilled food. As a group we had several members that had special dietary requirements which they dealt with in their stride. The light desserts (coffee/tea and a small dessert) are not as small as you might think, the piece of cheese was generous. The prices in the bar were reasonable - try the cocktails. My only issue was the live music on a Friday and Saturday it was too loud and intrusive. It was a barrier to communication. The spa was clean and again friendly staff. The treatments are reasonably priced. I will definitely try and visit again "
"Just come back from a three night stay here with my partner. The rooms were really nice, modern and spacious and the hotel is so peaceful and quiet. The beds were really comfortable and we both fell asleep quickly. The spa and facilities are clean and never too busy. We had several of the things in the spa to ourselves many times. The staff and people at the hotel are polite and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and the food in the restaurant was lovely. We would definitely come here again, don’t be put off by negative reviews about children in the pool area, this did not affect our stay at all and we’ve come away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Also staff in the spa and the lady who did my massage were so friendly and massage was incredible. We will be back!"

"Having decided last minute to drive to Manchester for an early flight we stumbled across this place on hotels.com, usually reluctant to stay at hotels attached to pubs. As some one who is very particular when it comes to hotels we were very impressed, the attention to detail is fantastic, been given a fresh flask of milk for me is a massive plus! Get so sick of just standard UHT in rooms normally. The room itself was immaculate, comfy bed, excellent selection of tea and coffee etc. One minor point was we felt the radiator didn’t give out as much heat as we would like. Free parking is a massive plus when so many places charge extortionate prices for overnight hotel parking. Pub next door was great for a quick drink before bed and this is where you have breakfast in the morning. Breakfast had a good selection and was cooked to order, ingredients used seemed to be of good quality. My only criticism here was that the food could have been a lot hotter, especially as the restaurant was not busy as the time. Overall a fantastic place, very well thought out and would not hesitate to come again if needing to stay near the airport."
"This is a lovely pub that has done well to keep things going during the pandemic and the restrictions, but this visit was a bit disappointing. We were served impressively quickly at first, but our fish and chips were only average. The chips in particular were a bit anaemic, and my request for the meal to come without mushy peas was completely ignored. After our main courses, though, we were pretty much abandoned (despite being sat very close to the bar), so, as the 10pm curfew approached, we had to try to catch the attention of the servers even to get a second drink, never mind any more food. The waitress then knew very little about the white wine on offer, although she did come back and offer some helpful advice when our first choice turned out not to be available. As for the dessert, I ordered raspberry roulade, which basically turned out to be pretty much the Arctic Roll that I used to eat as a kid! We were asked, as last orders sounded, if we wanted another drink, but as our previous one (our second one) had arrived only recently then we didn’t. It’s not easy for anyone in the hospitality industry in these difficult times, but the place was pretty busy, and we hadn’t quite gone into Tier 3 restrictions at the time of this visit. "
"The staff are first class and the service is excellent and always with a smile. Perfectly clean and there is a real sense of pride and all are welcoming. On the eve of it being closed for refurbishment we were treated well and were able to chat in comfort, pay at the bar and receive table delivery; this is no standard pub in any shape or form. The Bulls Head is a destination venue with class and its range of food and drinks is excellent. Perfect for solo eating, couples friends, families and groups and they have cracked the magic code."

"Recently spent 6 days here using it as a base for touring Cheshire. The first thing we noticed was the welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely historic pub too. We rented a standard room which was adequate for our needs. The shower pressure wasnt great but it wasnt a huge problem. The first night I didn't sleep due to some kind of ventilation thing under our window from the kitchen. The rest of the trip it was fine as we shut the window and secondary glazing (I noticed there was a fan in the wardrobe if it became warm) the bed was really comfy and the room had a small TV, kettle, hairdryer and toiletries for the shower. Breakfast was okay, some days excelling dependant on chef (whose poached eggs were just perfect) it was handy having the car park and I asked for directions before we travelled, so it was easy to find. If you want to eat in the pub in the evening I would recommend booking. We ate here once and it was really good, the second time we wanted to book, they were full, so be warned. We plan on visiting Cheshire in the near future and would definitely stay again"
"Just returned from 2 night stay. Happy with room & staff were very friendly & helpful. However on check in Sunday when we tried to book a table for supper we were told that there was no food served on a Sunday evening. Ok we thought there is always tomorrow - no when we returned from our day out & tried to book a table we were told that there was no food served on a bank holiday evening! Twice we felt let down; would have been better to have told us when we first arrived! We would not have booked at this hotel had we known as the food reviews were one of the reasons we booked in the first place. There was no mention on the website or booking confirmation that food is not served Sunday & Bank Holiday evenings."
"My wife and I spent just one night in this quaint hotel in the heart of Knutsford to break our journey to Scotland. Friendly and very helpful staff. We had to move from our original room due to a problem in the bathroom. We were given a higher grade room in exchange. Very comfortable and although it was at the front of the hotel the double glazing combatted most of the external noise. The food is above average pub grub. Good breakfast. The car park is at the rear of the hotel but pretty easy to find (but set your satnav to the car park's own post code which is different to that for the hotel!!)."

"Having stayed at other village hotels we got a very good deal and deiceed to try Warrington. Firstly lots of parking and this is free. As with most village hotels self check in, which was easy. Room was nice and very well decorated. All the amenities needed. Including iron etc. Bar was busy but first football weekend. Good location and close to town. Would highly recommend. "
"Not a great experience at this hotel at all. When I arrived we found they had double booked our room, our family room was no longer available so we were given a double with a rock hard sofa bed. Due to COVID we needed to book a slot to use the pool the next morning so we spent 15mins at the pool reception going through the process.  When we arrived the next morning they had lost our booking.  Luckily others had not turned up so we took their place The worst part of the stay was when we arrived for breakfast at 9, we were told rather rudely, that breakfast had ended at 9 - shouted from across the room.  When we complained at reception we found other guests complaining about the same thing - it turns out despite the notices in the hotel that breakfast is served until 9:30 on weekends, their hotel staff failed to tell anyone things had changed.  We were all offered a refund.  As I booked through Hotels.com they told me a manager would sort it out later in the day so not to worry. A few days later I chased Hotels.com for the refund and they advised that upon speaking with the hotel manager they were told it's against hotel policy to offer this kind of refund but Village would offer us free breakfast if we book again!   Despite Village Hotel being useless I must say Hotels.com were great and refunded me the £38 breakfast charge I had paid despite Village Hotel refusing.  Whilst I'd recommend Hotels.com I would go out of my way not to stay at this chain again."
"Club room OK and clean, dinner was mediocre £18 for 4 King prawns in a sauce which can only be described as milk was poor, one bar person one front of house, no covid track and trace, people was just sitting anywhere they liked a bit un nerving. Waited at least 30 mins for cheesecake which is no blame on the poor member of staff who was running around like a headless chicken, breakfast poor, no hash browns or fruit, toast rock-hard, when we asked for poached or fried we was told they can't due to the current situation apparently??we're talking eggs here not steak, only scrambled on offer. o watered down orange juice was not good, tea and coffee on offe was OK, We have stayed in 5 different hotels since the industry was allowed to reopen, unfortunately this stay was not great I'm afraid and we've stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past, very dubious about returning"

"What a beautiful place! Not what I expected at all. My partner booked this hotel for us to stay while I had a night out locally with friends. The hotel was dressed for Christmas and looked beautiful. There was a wedding on when we arrived and I was hesitant at first, we mentioned this upon check-in and said we wanted a quiet room and the receptionist told us to let her know if we had any problems and we neither saw nor heard from the party again all night, everything was perfect. There were some marks on the carpet in our room however in general the room was very clean. We went into the bar later that night for drinks and the seating area was stunning, the music choice could have been better however it made us chuckle and the bar staff were friendly. Breakfast was amazing and check out was smooth."
"We attended for our dear friends wedding on 29th December 2019. The wedding ceremony was beautifully organised, the silver service meal was amazing! The staff are all so professional, the beds are so comfy! The bedrooms are lovely, we only had a view of a rooftop, which wasn’t relevant as we were there to share our friends wedding day! We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough! We’d definitely stay again. Cameron Bowes-Dalton"
"It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Statham Lodge Hotel Wonderful decorations! Beautiful surroundings, with a homely atmosphere, fantastic dinner menu for the season, worth every penny. Suggest calling early as bookings are filling quickly, set in tranquil gardens"
