"My partner and I had planned a weeklong trip to Galway, our only vacation planned since the COVID restrictions began in Dublin back in March. We were excited to travel and reclaim some semblance of normalcy in our lives. But restrictions were raised and made our trip out of the county impossible. Deciding to be impulsive and treat ourselves, we realized a dream of ours instead: a week at the Shelbourne. We expected the beautiful hotel room, the incredible food, the elegant interior. What we didn’t expect was the celebrity treatment we received from every single member of the hotel staff we interacted with. On one of our first days we got lost on the way to the spa and asked someone cleaning a room to point us in the right direction. Instead, she led us there herself. And when we happened to see an interesting meeting room as we passed, the assistant bar manager Andrew Taylor took us on a late-night after-dinner tour of the Shelbourne himself to find it (based only our vague recollection of “a red room with lots of paintings”). We had planned on one spa day, but enjoyed our massages and relaxation time (champagne in hand) so much that we added on another. Definitely do not miss out. Every measure felt taken to ensure a safe and worry-free stay, from the temperature checks on the way in, frequent hand sanitizing stations, face masks and face shields abound, and time-limited dining. We felt so isolated from the outside world that, at one last coffee in the Lord Mayor Lounge before checking out, we admitted to one another we had forgotten entirely about the gravity of the pandemic. Though I’m sure these unprecedented times led to some truly unique experiences (like playing boardgames in the Lord Mayor Lounge, having the entire No. 27 bar to ourselves, enjoying a long conversation and delicious cocktails courtesy of Luke Boland in the 1824 bar, enjoying Afternoon Tea alone in what would have been a sold-out room), I am sure that when we return we will receive the same level of professional and welcoming service, no matter the number of guests staying with the hotel. We had planned to dine at an outdoor seating area at a local Italian restaurant, but when the night came we were enjoying a Guinness and boardgames in the lounge. My partner asked if it would be possible to order in, seeing as we’d tried just about everything on the menu, and the response came that the chef would be happy to make us something off-menu, and so we enjoyed a penne with Irish chorizo and finished our game, content not to leave the hotel at all. We didn’t know it, but this was our first interaction with the general manager, JP Kavanagh. On our last night, we had cocktails at the 1824 bar. I was beyond impressed with Luke, our bartender. Being something of a cocktail hobbyist, I tried out some more obscure drink orders, and he was familiar with every request and happy to recommend drinks. We were privileged to be checked in on by JP himself, who recommended the Ch"
"Been to every type of 5 star hotel around the world, but I have to say this is right up there at the top. Well worth going right now given there isn’t to much open right now. Right from parking the car at the front door, greeted by great door staff who took the car off to park it. Advised to give them 15 mins advance if we need the car for anything which was really good to know. Restaurant was great, really attentive staff who looked after you for the whole meal, food was fantastic, I should have went for the lobster option though. Room was v nice and the bar/lounge was nice for few drinks after. Great to have option of Grafton at/Stephens green on your door step, won’t get better location in Dublin. Will more than likely make it a yearly visit. Breakfast also fantastic, got booth which was really good. "
"We stayed at the Shelborne for 13 nights, our stay was more than incredible! Armando and the reception team were extremely nice and welcoming, and made us feel at home from day one. They immediately gave answer to any request we had, they were so kind and the service was beyond expected. The room was comfortable and clean. The pool is amazing, there was a DJ in the pool and at the bar every weekend. Food at the restaurant was very good. Bobby the bartender is a Great personality and gave us the best service! Great fitness center and gym with clean towels and water bottles. We would for sure come back again soon, thank you for an amazing stay AAA++++"

"We stayed here for one night after being moved from another hotel due to a closure during the Covid-19 outbreak. We can’t say enough about how gracious, professional and accommodating the staff was, especially due to everyone being under the stress and strain of the pandemic. We were made to feel so welcome, the hotel is spotless and very comfortable. Gorgeous decor! The food in the restaurant was excellent as well. We would highly recommend The Davenport to our family and friends. We hope to return one day under much better circumstances and wish them well going forward! "
"Honestly this place is lovely! We stayed for a night and stayed at another property in Dublin prior (5 star) and in my opinion the Davenport was superior over the other. Large, clean, modern room, what more could you ask for. Great location. Our rate included the executive lounge on the 6th floor with a great selection of drinks and snacks. Only thing i could ding them for would be no robes and only two towels in the room. But if your looking for a modern and clean hotel in a great location look no further. "
"I was walking during the storm last week to go see my friend and I got inside just to get warm! Never been in this place before as I thought it was a tad too much..surprisingly this place is amazing, I had a coffee to warm me up and boy did I enjoyed it!! Very friendly staff from the reception to the bar! I would def come back next time I’m in town!!!"

"We knew we were arriving in late so contacted in advance and this was fine. Arrived to find the most brilliant city. Vibrant and couldnt wait to explore for the weekend. Receptionist said we were in the lucky position to be given an appartment further down the same road. I said l'd rather be staying in the Guesthouse. He said it was fully booked and couldnt. Walked a few hundred metres down and thought we were seeing an old Snooker Hall. This was the place! The front lockon this door had tried to be forced open. The hall was a shock. Three floors up and we saw electrics sticking out of walls, plaster crumbling and door numbers scribbled on doors. Once a glorious looking building is now needing safety checks. I couldnt beleive we were placed here. Inside our door there was a great appartment that looked exactly like the rooms in the website photos. But it doesnt feel safe being there. We returned and the receptionist was blatently rude and said no one had ever complained about this place, it must be us. Look at the photos l have uploaded as he said everyone liked it as it was a quiet place. I did not think we were being fussy. Asked to speak to the manager on three occassions. Told to return to be placed in the guest house the following afternoon. So had to drop out exploring to get back and move in to the new room. This was just as expected. Great for the price. Manager never made contact but the female receptionist was sympathetic and listened. One of the other male recetionists great too as they both knew there was an issue. The initial receptionist saw us a few times but was denying any issue and actually antgonising. I made a complaint, this was ignored and thankfully our booking company immediately got it sorted with one nights refund and the manager came back to us, with no explanation except an apology and offer of one nights fee. Not really acceptable considering the fact that of two day, one was spoilt and the other was cut short to return and change rooms. On a positive, a great location for buses and some good pubs nearby. Dublin is fabulous and we would love to return one day but with reassance of clean, safe accomodation. Such a popular guesthouse but the hostel place completely spoils it, Especially when treated so badly when questioning why we were placed there."
"We have'nt visited yet but we had to cancel our booking due to a postponement of a show we due to see, our booking was a none refundable booking so when we asked if we could be credited for the booking we did not expect anything so a very big thank you for allowing use to have a credit, acts of kindness shows in these bad times are very much appreciated."
"A group of 8 mates had booked 4 nights in November to watch SA vs Ireland rugby. We booked most economical option, no change, no refunds. After all rugby tours are cast in Stone! NOT, thanks to Corona. James at CSG was most helpful in offering a full value Credit for 24 months. We will reschedule and something to look fwd to."
