Lovely location, beautiful rooms. The pool looked nice but wasn't open as far as I could tell -- renovations, perhaps? Honestly, I would have given the hotel more stars if any of the staff I met on days 2, 3, or 4 had checked me in, but I was so annoyed by the treatment I got at check-in that it was hard for me to recover my equilibrium. It's old-fashioned, reasonably quiet rooms, one side faces Colombi Park and a busy street, the other side faces a courtyard but has a view of the Münster (cathedral) over the neighboring roofs. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that -- but they did provide an array of cute little sweets in the room on the first night, and a nightly turn-down service, which was a pleasant surprise. This room had the best and most beautiful closet of any hotel I've ever stayed in. The shower leaked, so I was very grateful for daily room cleaning so I could get fresh bathmats!

Great home base for exploring in the Black Forest. The hotel and grounds are amazing. Be sure to make some time to walk and enjoy the park setting behind the hotel. We had room 225 which has a small balcony with 2 chairs which is in the front of the hotel and overlooks the restaurant building. All meals, except afternoon tea are served in the dining building just across from the hotel main entrance. There is also an underground walkway connecting the 2 buildings just in case the weather turns. All meals were 5-star. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want. Lunch, which we only had time for once, was more than a light lunch/snack. Afternoon tea was served in a nice room just behind the main desk. Served with finger sandwiches and small desserts. Accompanied by piano music. Great way to relax for an hour or so. And then dinner. A four-course gourmet meal every night. You can choose from 4 different menus. 2 of which change daily. Or you can mix and match between menus. Excellent!! And the staff, everyone was outstanding. Too many to mention, but everyone made you feel comfortable and helped with all your needs.

The hotel is located in a lovely spot in the woods, with walking/trails and birds chirping, outside Freiburg. There is a large terrace to sit on for a drink or a meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful to provide a relaxing experience. I really enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffett. If you are looking to explore the area, it is situated on the way to Alsace so you can go into Freiburg and France quite easily. If you want a hotel right in Freiburg, this isn't it. And the highway is a bit close by so there is some sound, but usually the birds chirping was louder.

Lets start with the location which is excellent and minutes from the main square.Staff were at all times polite and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and varied,Down side is the room which has no inbuilt air condition and they give a stand alone tower which you either keep on all night or switch off.Not what we could do as it was 28 degrees in the city at night..If you take a 3rd floor premier room they over look the outside bar area which on a Saturday night can stay open till after midnight which i can understand at the weekend but not through the week.Below our window was a floodlit tree and this shone into the room through very badly designed curtains.We had to ask maintenance to get a second curtain as ours had been removed and not replaced.Staff said curtains has been raised as ineffective many times but nothing has been done Bed wasnt all that comfortable either but on the whole a good room but would not return as better hotels with better facilities can probably be found for the same price elsewhere

Beautiful hotel with everything needed for a short trip. Coffee and tea were available free. Unfortunately, the lady was unfriendly at the weekend and made it difficult for us to check in. We would prefer to cancel the accommodation immediately, which was not possible. All other staff were premature and helpful, and we have still enjoyed the stay.
