"We've stayed at wonderful, top-notch Fletcher hotels. Sadly this is not one of them. De Zeegster Duinen is located in a perfectly beautiful area, a nature reserve with sand dunes and fens and small lakes. Great for walking and enjoying the outdoors. The hotel, though, is a 'tired', dark and drab building both from the outside and indoors as well. it needs an entire make-over to come up to the standards of a Fletcher hotel. Check-in was efficient by a very good and pleasant clerk, Debbie. The other frontdeskers during our two-night stay were perfunctory, unfriendly and unhelpful. Our room was spacious and looked out on a nice lawn with the dunes in the distance. But it was all in drab colors. Sparsely furnished with out-dated chairs and couch. Empty mini-bar; only cardboard 'glasses'. Housekeeping was slovenly apparently without vacuuming or even straightening the couch. The hotel doesn't trust its own guests. Bar or restaurant tabs cannot be charged to your room; you have to pay each thing separately. 'People have been known to leave without paying', is the rationale. A hefty tab of 100 Euro is the penalty for not following this rule. The hotel is proud of its so-called 'Live Cooking' in the restaurant. This is nothing more than a buffet with cooks working in the background. There's no a-la-carte dining. Moreover, we found that arriving at about 20.00 much of the buffet was already gone not to be replenished (e.g. herring). Two kinds of meat, two kinds of fish, no fowl; the usual assortment of vegetables (rather overcooked) and potatoes; cheese or sweets for dessert. Breakfast also not a very happy affair. For example: one of us wanted fried eggs easy-over. The cook without a word pointed to a plate with luke-warm results of his cooking; he could just as easily have made fresh eggs on his stove right in front of us. The next morning, there were no ready-made fried eggs, so he got down to business but made a curious mess. The hotel has wifi, but it was not working - either too slow or just defunct - when we were there. Upon asking when it would be working again, we received a blank stare and a shrug of the receptionist's shoulder. As for the swimming pool: looking in on it the chlorine smell was so strong we decided to use our tub instead. Thank goodness life doesn't hang on these ineptitudes, and the pretty surroundings made up for the less than Fletcher-excellence of the hotel."
"It is very nice and dogfriedly hotel! Big rooms, every room has his own balcony, clean! Near the hotel is beautiful nature park for walking dogs, just resting/taking sun and also we found a nice lake there!"
"We were travelling through and stopped for a night. Rented bikes the next day and did a 32 km recomended bicycle trip which was great. We felt that we got great value for our money. Large rooms. Great place if your looking for a nice and quiet place in the country side."
