"It already started badly, and first impressions simply are important.... when I called the hotel to inquire how I might best get there with public transport from the Bremen main train station, the response was "How would I know, you need to find out for yourself"... now, had I booked the hotel, and somebody else was not on the hook for reservations which can not be cancelled, I would have cancelled right there. Because I did not, I laughed, shook my head and hoped this was not a sign for things to come. When we arrived, it became clear this was just the beginning. While the lobby and Restaurant area seem to be fairly recently renovated, bright and clean, the process of checking in was absolute chaos.. felt very much like the experienced management from all departments was away, and left the rookies to run the show... with the least experienced rookie responsible for the check in...it took for ages. When my check in was sufficiently screwed up that she had no longer any idea how she could possibly get me a receipt, I tried to calm her down by saying, not to worry, I actually do not need the receipt... for which I was rewarded by what seemed to be the head rookie with a scathing look and the lecture that this is a business after all, and they need the receipts for themselves.... (I was aware they need documentation, but I figured they would be able to sort it out at some point, without having to stress about printing mine then and there) The arguments between the staff was, very professionally, carried out right in front of the .. by now many... waiting guests. Finally, I managed to get my key, with instructions to get to my room... when I got there, I realized that this was not my day. The room seemed a bit like a relic from the 70's or 80's, old furniture, a TV that some museums might be happy for, broken tiles, things missing, a soft uncomfortable mattress... etc. If there is a highlight, it could be the breakfast... or maybe my expectations by then were simply so low that anything beyond stale bread and a little jam seems like a great deal... it was simple, but perfectly adequate. Also, it is located quite conveniently close to the highway, so I guess if all you want is a bed, and quickly back onto the highway it might be an acceptable choice. Also, the check in process has a certain entertainment value, that can not be discounted."
"Clean and rather quite even though it was just next to the motorway. Rooms were large and clean, and breakfast was absolutely ok. A bit roughy outside but for a nights sleep close to the motorway it is a good choice. Restaurant was closed and the closest was a walking distance to McDonalds. A bit further to a restaurant open later than 21. Mind that no restaurant took credit card in the town!!"
