"We have stayed at this Premier inn before,so there was no hesitation in booking this hotel again. It is close to the Railway station and the bus station is next door.it is in a very good location close to the town centre and close to the theatre. If you have ever stayed at a premier inn before then you will know the standard of the rooms is very good. You know what you are going to get with a premier inn as they are all good, very comfortable beds and all the usual amenities, tea, coffee, kettle, hairdryer etc.The staff in this hotel are very cheerful and helpful, all seemed to be happy in their work.If you want food the meal deal at 24.99 is definitely a good deal.2 course evening meal and a drink and unlimited breakfast the next morning,we had steak and a gorgeous dessert and a glass of wine.Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of it, although you could order an omlette if wanted.creals,fruit.yogurt,croissant etc, proper costa coffee and gluten free bread on request too. when we come back to Shrewsbury we will definitely be staying at the Premier inn again."
"I would like to make a recommendation of above and beyond the call of duty to the duty manager Andreea at premier inn town centre branch shrewsbury. Booked a two night stay in swansea city premier inn (non flexible booking) on our journey from north Wales felt unwell, got as far as shrewsbury and decided to see if we could change the booking and stay there overnight until I felt better. Andreea was exceptional ! She was on the telephone to head office for ages, offered us drinks and comfortable seats whilst she tried to arrange this and after quite some time got them to agree on our two night stay being transferred and a refund on the swansea stay when we checked out. After all this we decided to return home where I could see my doctor sooner. All in all a very warm welcome which went and beyond expected customer service. Despite our not even staying. We most certainly will stay in this lovely facility when we go to shrewsbury next time. Thank you Andreea."
"I stayed for one night and the hotel is a short walk from the station. On checking in I paid by cash and they always seem to ask for photo id like you've done something wrong. I wasn't happy with the lack of privacy at the desk as another person (off duty team member or friend) who was talking to the receptionist wouldn't move away. The service in the restaurant was good as I arrived at closing time but they got me a meal which I was able to take to the room. The hotel is located next to the bus station but I didn't hear any noise from the fourth floor. The room was comfortable which I have come to expect from Premier Inns. The bed and duvet hits the spot every time. Some rooms may look towards the river. So a convenient stop over for me and all in all would probably recommend."

"The purpose of our trip was to experience the Heart of Wales Line from Swansea to Shrewsbury. A trip we had to postpone several times due to the weather. Cromwells Inn very kindly transferred our booking to a different date free of charge and I am very grateful to them for doing that. Cromwells Inn is situated in the centre of Shrewsbury and about a 10 minute walk from the train station. It is a very old pub so expect sloping stairs, sloping walls and low ceilings at certain points. Would be very disappointed not to have these features in an olde worlde pub. Check in was swift and friendly. Our room was Room 1. If I am honest more compact than I expected from the photos on the website. I would say that it has been recently updated as the walls looked freshly painted and the carpet looked pretty new, as did the curtains on the window. The bed was Queen Size and I have to say I have not slept well the past few weeks for various reasons but the bed was so comfortable .......best sleep I have had in weeks. Good quality pillows as well, I think I might just have converted my OH to getting a Queen size bed if we can get one as comfortable as this one. Good coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the room together with biscuits. An added bonus being that if you eat in the bar you also have 10% off your total bill. Fair to say that the bathroom could do with some updating but this is a very old building so maybe to be expected. For an old building I was very impressed with the hot water available and the pressure of water and the hot water in the shower was excellent. We ate in the bar in the evening.....there were a few locals and the ambience was good. We really enjoyed our meal. Looking out the back there is a beer garden which I imagine is well used in the summer months. So we enjoyed our stay very much and are very grateful that Cromwell's Inn transferred our booking (without asking) to another date. Good place to stay even for one night if you do the Heart of Wales Line."
"Breakfast was excellent, dinner was also excellent - I would recommend the Shropshire game hot pot delicious!! Hobson's and Shropshire Gold ales. The staff were exceptiionally helpful and pleasant. My wife has a blue badge and there was a unlimited time disabled space almost directly in front of the hotel. The fifteenth century building has a lot of character and the position within the town is excellent. It was very covid safe with partitions between the tables, tables sanitised before and after use. Hand gel bottles everywhere."
"Stayed for two nights, had our meal there each night, food excellent, wonderful atmosphere, lovely Hosts and staff. Great location , having stayed in 4 other places before in Shrewsbury all very good , Cromwells is now our favourite place, nice quirky room , also great breakfast choice"

"Situated very close to the town with all the restaurants and bars you'll find this hotel . Friendly family run hotel the staff can't do enough for you , good covid-19 system setup as well. A excellent well presented breakfast with all what you would expect and more. The hotel and the rooms are clean and tidy and compact. Yes they could do with a little touch up here and there but they are very comfortable . The parking outside was a big part for our stay as we had high value motorcycles and staying for 5 nights but we had no worries there.. Right opposite is a very good Indian restaurant that can't do enough for you , huge portions , and at the moment extremely good price 50% off.... If you find this helpful please give me a helpful tick."
"We stayed at the Abbots Mead Hotel 24 - 27 August 2020 and found it to be excellent value for money. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast very good. They have good covid provision in place with a one way system around the hotel and tables spaced in the breakfast room. It is not a luxury hotel, but does what it does very well and it is not expensive. It is well located for sight seeing in Shrewsbury and there restaurants nearby and more a short walk away. We greatly enjoyed our stay here and would use this hotel again, if we have another stay in Shrewsbury."
"We wanted a hotel with wifi, parking and breakfast - tick, tick, tick. I was a bit concerned the hotel is only 2 star, but no need to have worried. The room was comfortable, breakfast freshly prepared and plentiful. Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss, but that is my only small complaint and doesn't affect my overall score for this hotel. Special mention to Amber serving at breakfast - incredible memory for orders! Good Covid arrangements - hand sanitiser everywhere! Would recommend."

"The hotel is right in the very center of the town and the location is very good. The breakfast is very rich, you can order the main dish yourself, we have a very clean breakfast. Hotel service is also very good, we asked about the bus time nearby, the hotel front desk sold to the computer to print a schedule to us. The only downside is that the hotel house is very old and the rooms are generally small."
"The hotel has a good location, right in the center of town. Check-in and welcome wine, very warm. The breakfast is classic English style, with hot and cold meals. The elevator broke down on the day of check-in. It was really not easy to move a few large boxes from the third floor."
"The location is very good, in the center of the old city, easy to go anywhere. The hotel facilities are a bit old, the bathroom has been renovated and has a bathtub. Breakfast semi buffet plus a la carte, overall good"

"We arrived too early and the Asian Indian male was very friendly. He asked us to please come back which was fine. Later on in the day we returned to check in. The receptionist was a young black lady with braids and glasses. She never smiled and looked annoyed. She gave us a room with 2 beds. We are a family of 5. I did request an additional bed when I reserved the room. When we entered the room it was not ready. The cleaning lady was very nice. She was an older woman from Montserrat. She helped by getting the room ready for us. I asked her if they had any larger rooms and she help us get a room with 3 beds. We were waiting in the hallway and the rude receptionist came and I explained that we were waiting for the room with the additional bed and she proceeded to complain about the maintenance worker, which is very unprofessional. She also was annoyed that we were given the room with the additional bed. She exchanged our keys and said that this key doesn’t have the piece to unlock the front door. I asked if she could take one off of another key and she said no. For 2 days we had to wait for a receptionist to let us in. We finally ask another staff member that was so nice and always smiling and she gave us one. We also asked the rude receptionist for directions to Valentines Park and she said she didn’t know. We had to ask someone on the street and it was a 5 minute walk away. Every other staff member was friendly and accommodating. The room did have a musty smell and a huge yellow stain on the carpet. It felt unclean. The bathroom light flickered before it turned on. The WiFi worked, but it was hard to connect to and we were not told how to connect when we checked in. The hotel is in a very convenient location. The Harvester Pub is next door and the Tube is a 5 minute walk away."
"I stay here several times a year. I am female (and won't see 60 again) and I travel alone but I always feel safe at this Travelodge, that's why I come back. My room was tidy and clean, including the bathroom floor, which is always an indicator of standards. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The staff are friendly and had made sure the heating was on in the room as I arrived a bit late. It's very convenient for getting into Shrewsbury and Mid Wales. There's a Marks and Spencer Food hall a couple of minutes away so I can get something for a picnic or to eat in my room. I've seen some of the negative reviews recently so I decided to review my last visit. I was happy to stay there and will probably be there again before Christmas, lockdown allowing. I would agree with one reviewer that the trees need to be trimmed around the lights in the car park to allow more light in. However there are quite a few parking places directly outside the lodge and they are well lit. It's not luxury but that's not what I need. "
"Stayed at this hotel many times. Very impressed at the high standard for a budget hotel. It must be a good place to work as the staff have stayed the same for such a long time. Rooms always look clean and tidy and smell fresh"

"I recently stayed at The Alb in the ‘Rupert’ apartment with my partner for a short weekend break in Shrewsbury. We had a very enjoyable stay and couldn’t really find fault with anything and would definitely recommend it and will stay again in the future. From the moment that we arrived, every single member of staff who assisted us was polite, friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. After checking in at the bar, we were shown to our room by a member of staff who explained how the door security code system worked and pointed out all of the facilities in our room. We didn’t encounter any issues at all during our stay but I felt reassured that these would have been resolved quickly had anything arisen. We stayed in the ‘Rupert’ apartment, a ground floor room which had a double bed, bathroom with shower and a small kitchen space which has a sink, kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and all the cutlery/dishes etc needed. This was all maintained to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. Soap and shower gel was supplied in the bathroom, and the kitchen was equipped with ample supplies of tea, coffee, milk and bottled water in the fridge. The room was very comfortable, the bed was comfortable and we both slept well. I note that some reviews mention high levels of noise from outside - we didn’t find this a particular issue, however earplugs were supplied in the room. WiFi connection worked at high speeds and we didn’t have any issues with the connection dropping out. We liked the fact that the TV was equipped with all major channels and the ability to access other features such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix (which I used my own subscription details for). Only a minor issue, there were no plug sockets directly beside the bed or a bedside table, which would have made it a little easier to charge/reach devices where needed. There were however four plug sockets elsewhere in the room which was more than enough for our needs. As we booked directly via The Alb’s website, we received a discounted room rate which also included breakfast. In the room, we were supplied with a form to provide details of what we wanted for breakfast the next day. There was plenty of choice, ranging from full english breakfast, American waffles to a continental breakfast selection. We opted for the full english breakfast and were not disappointed - it was served promptly, clearly cooked fresh to order and of very high quality. Upon checking out the next day, we were able to leave our bags in storage to collect later in the day before we made our journey home for no charge. We will definitely be returning in the fuure and would not hesitate to recommend The Alb."
"Amazing apartment in central location such friendly staff too. 15% discount on food and drinks in the bar and an fabulous breakfast thrown in!! Clean, modern every facility that we needed. You must stay here if you come to Shrewsbury!!"
"We had to cancel our booking due to a funeral but looking forward to booking next time as I have read great reviews about the hotel. The hotel went out of their way to accommodate our cancellation. Thank you."

"Next to the train station. But far from the attractions. The room is small but the worst is to go to the room stairs and take a big suitcase and get lucky."

"Very historic hotel. The parking lot is right next to the hotel, but remember that if there is a car parked in the parking lot, you need to tell the front desk the license plate number, so you can enjoy a discount of 5 pounds a day, otherwise it will be counted by the hour."
"The price is very high, and the hotel I set in front of, the world is different, the room is large, clean, bright, sanitary products look comfortable, the hotel is very characteristic, old-fashioned British architecture, more than 400 nights. Very worth booking."
"A great hotel, elegant environment, rich breakfast, very good attitude, spacious room, extending in all directions, feel at home, next time you come to this! !"

"We love the smooth christmas music playing over the speakers, accompanied by the DELICIOUS mulled wine. WOW. What a lovely little cosy corner. However, be warned. - stay away from the onion rings..... Six onion rings for £4? That means each onion ring is worth 66p? This seems very overpriced. But we bought them anyway, to our dismay they constituted a second drink, seemingly doused in oil. It tasted as though the (very lovely ) waitress had bought an entire deep fat fryer to our table. The staff are delightfull."
"Visited the Bull Inn on a cold November’s day and was delighted by the warmth of the welcome. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff. All we wanted was a light lunch, and much enjoyed their jacket popato with cheese and bacon! Simple, clean and tasty!"
"Stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting family and couldn't fault the accomdation. Ideally located (although you'll have to park in the NCP, or Darwin Centre shopping centre and walk) right in the town centre. Yes it's a busy town centre pub with an lovely beer garden so if it's a quiet nights sleep i'd suggest elsewhere. We considered it great value for money. Will stay again when we return."
