Reviews From Real Travelers
I enjoyed my staycation here very much. While some reviewers observe that the hotel is old and dated, in general, that was not at all my experience (except for the drapes in the room which may have been from the last century). Fact is - this IS an old hotel and a Tucson landmark. My room and balcony were comfortable, clean, and pleasant. The soaking tub was delightful. My room overlooked the pool (salt water!) which added to my enjoyment. The bed was comfortable as were the chairs, large ottoman, and small sofa. I liked the computer desk. The grounds abound with native plants. I don’t play golf, but I understand that it is an excellent course. Only one of the two pools was open due to Covid restrictions, but it was thoroughly delightful and there was plenty of shade from umbrellas, decent lounge chairs, and some comfortable outdoor upholstered furniture available as well. I did not use the spa or fitness center, so I can’t comment on that. A few negatives in my book, though. First, the hotel is nowhere near ADA compliant. I understand a major upgrade is in the works so hopefully those issues can be addressed. Second, I think it’s ridiculous to charge for self-parking. Third, the hotel was not following the current CDC guidelines for indoor masking. The few times that I actually had to go into the lobby, I was the only person wearing a mask. When I compare that to a recent stay at another local resort where every single staff person and most of the guests I saw indoors were masked - I think that is inexcusable. Finally, the tv selections are heavily skewed to sports of all kind to the detriment of entertainment. Finally, the bed linens were pretty tired. Overall, I think the Omni Tucson is delightful. I would not hesitate to return or to recommend it to my friends. I look forward to the unveiling of the new and improved resort.

We recently stayed at the Omni National Resort in Tucson and had a moderately pleasant experience. The front desk reception was not friendly or welcoming which probably got our stay off on the wrong foot. All other hotel staff, including housekeeping, pool bar and attendants, and restaurant wait staff, were very friendly, welcoming, attentive and accommodating. The restaurant available for breakfast was The Table located in Bob’s Steakhouse and the meals we had there were excellent. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the basic eggs with protein breakfast and both were wonderful. We also had appetizers in the Legends Bar and Grill and very much enjoyed the food, drinks, and experience there as well. The room was very large. I enjoyed the deep soaking tub and the lovely bathroom amenities. We also enjoyed our patio. The bed and mattress seemed old and overall the room appeared to worn and old and not very clean. The grounds could use some better upkeep and cleaning. The pool was very nice but it was quiet and did not have a very upbeat or fun atmosphere. The pool area could have also used some better cleaning and attendance. We were supposed to have a guaranteed late check out of 4 pm because we used the Amex Platinum Hotel Collection to book our room, however when I called to request a late check out the front desk was very reluctant to grant the request and would only agree to a 2 pm check out. Again, very disappointed with the level of hospitality from the front desk reception. Also through the Hotel Collection we were supposed to have been given a room upgrade upon availability, and despite the resort being very empty, I am pretty sure we were not given a room upgrade. Our stay was moderately enjoyable but I do not think we will return to the Omni in Tucson. The Loews at Ventana Canyon is a far superior resort for often the same rate and sometimes even less.

Check in service was friendly, servers were sweet, and room-service was prompt. However, staff is totally lacking in any hospitality training and it is obvious that the hotel (i can't say it's a resort) is using the pandemic as an excuse to employ less staff and therefore, not provide cleaning in guest rooms, as well as, no obvious santitization in common areas. The common areas are unclean; the lounge and breakfast restaurant floors were dirty every morning. We chose a 'resort' expecting at least an effort in these areas. Instead we're paying a resort fee as a handout for nothing in return. We booked a junior suite for our family. Though we asked for mountain views on a top floor, we got no view on a ground floor at the bldg entrance. Our check-in staff said 'but we upgraded you to a suite' till we pointed out that we had booked it and it was not an upgrade. Food is mediocre--at best. Our food order was messed up both times we ordered (hence we did not order any more); red chile fundido container came to us upside down in a bag; our tortilla soup came to us without queso, tortilla *****s or black beans and tasted like it was out of a can; flourless chocolate torte came on a plate pasted in coffee icing; and breakfast parfait was a spoon of yogurt with sweetened granola and honey and doused in over-sweet fruit jam that did not seem fresh.

We are Hilton Silver Members and look for nicer resort type hotels when staying out of town. I had messaged the hotel before arriving to confirm our accommodations and was asked what time we were arriving which was around 3. When we arrived I was a little disappointed that our room wasn’t ready. I was surprised because it was very quiet at the hotel. We waited an hour for our room to be ready. I was extremely dissatisfied that the room was not cleaned properly. New sheets and towels and that’s it. Floor had hair in the bathrooms, as did the tubs and toilet. My mom put towels on the floor to keep from walking on it! I called and asked for housekeeping to do a full cleaning the next day. We were there and still didn’t clean the floors, or toilet, until I showed them. Are you kidding me. Hiltons website guarantees a clean room and lists mopping floor, wiping down everything, all of which was not done! On our last day I spoke to the manager on duty and she assured me this won’t continue and that she would comp one night and pay for our breakfast. I was satisfied with the compensation, but probably will never stay here again and I now question Hilton standards in general. Otherwise, it’s a very nice property on the outskirts of Tucson with 2 pools, golf and tennis.

Really nice spot with very friendly staff, I love the swimming pools; not too crowded in the middle of the summer, and a great summer rate! Room was very spacious too. One of the pools was a nice, smaller pool down a path, and one was larger, adjacent to the mail area. There is also a lap pool which I did not go. I did not try the restaurant although it looked great. There was a nice little porch in front of the room too. I recommend this place.

Beautiful grounds, attentive service, large room, and excellent food. Enjoyed a fabulous massage and the hot tub as well. Gold is a magnificent dining room, and the bar and grille had excellent live blues music the night we went!

Reviews From Real Travelers
This former Red Lion property is currently undergoing an extensive and complete renovation. The rooms on the top two floors are now complete. The ground floor rooms are currently being worked on. My one-bed room was renovated and SMALL (about 225 sq. ft.). Excellent blackout blinds, good TV and a LARGE shower (no tub). Air conditioning was ”governed”, so it could not be set below 71 F, however, the room seemed much cooler than that, even on a 107 F day. The room is not yet perfectly finished with all the little touches, but I'm guessing that will. happen in the next 12 months. SURPRISINGLY, my motel room did NOT have a telephone. When I asked at the front desk, they explained that my room was a rare exception, in that a telephone line has not yet been installed. My particular room was acceptable for a budget-minded couple. The courtyard, however, was lovely with a good-sized pool, hot tub, and five hole putting green. The staff was very nice, but was a little lazy, in my opinion. It was obvious the exterior stairs had NOT been swept in several days. With four people at the front desk, certainly one of them could have grabbed a broom and swept for 45 minutes. My Expedia rate was US$ 70 plus a US$ 4.00 ”Property Fee”. I would consider this property again for a solo trip.

Very good value for money and rich breakfast. There are commercial areas on both sides of the hotel, and walking, dining and shopping can meet basic needs.
