"Loved this hotel. Its very modern in styling but the building itself is old. We asked the hotel to arrange a taxi to meet us at the airport, he was waiting at arrivals and helped us with luggage. He took us as close as he could, then insisted on helping again to carry cases and show us the hotel. You actually check in in a hotel opposite. Excellent staff, helpful and friendly. The hotel is accessed via cards for the outer door, then the elevator, then your room. It felt very safe. The rooms are simple. We are travelling and use packing cubes but anyone wanting to unpack in a normal way may struggle. We had a triple, a large double downstairs and our son had a single on a mezzanine. Room was very quiet. There was a safe on our mezzanine. The AC was efficient, bathroom excellent. There is a small communal living area with tables, sofas and tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits in the afternoon. There is also a water machine with still or sparkling water with glasses and carafes to fill. Housekeeping excellent.Rooms very clean. Breakfast! Truly one of the best buffets I have seen, just about anything was presented and rapidly refilled before empty. Excellent! To leave , we again asked the hotel to arrange a taxi, I think the best option. Only negative , is that whilst Genoa in general is a place to be very streetwise, there were a couple of very sketchy alleyways to the north and east of the hotel. OK in day time, but best avoided at night. We did use them though at night but avoided afterwards, you get to know the better alleys! Don't let this put you off, the hotel otherwise is in an amazing central position, and I doubt its much different elsewhere."
"Our taxi driver refused to drop us at the suggested square as seems to be a common problem for many places within the historical precinct. However he did take us to Piazza De Ferrari so it was just a downhill run with our cases! Getting back to the station was much easier as the Hotel's driver met us at the reception and assisted with the luggage then took us to the station. The location is fabulous right in the middle of everything, the room was beautiful and quirky in its decoration and bathroom divine - elegant & roomy something we have come to appreciate on our travels. We had a shared common lounge with tea, coffee and water on the 4th floor plus access to a lovely light filled lounge space in the sister property next door in the square. Great breakfast on the terrace of Hotel Palazzo - Grillo next door included and accessed through a glass roof lift. A delightful square at the front with a stunning yet unassuming church - take a look if time permits. Great dinner recommendations from reception."
"This was our second stay in this hotel. We have enjoyed both stays & find the rooms spotlessly clean, elegant & well appointed. The staff are extremely helpful & courteous. On our most recent stay in 2019 we found that the breakfast that is served in Palazzo Grillo, next door to Hotel Le Nuvole, the most delicious of all the breakfasts we sampled on our 4 week trip around northern Italy. The breakfast room is delightful & has magnificent views across Genoa. The hotel is not difficult to find & is perfectly positioned in the centre of the old city. It is an easy walk to all of the interesting sights & there are many restaurants and small bars nearby with a wide range of food choices. Genoa is a fascinating & lively city with many amazing attractions. We will always make it our first port of call when we can next travel to Italy from Australia."
