"A Celebration or peace, rest, comfort, luxury, good-food - if these are what you are looking for this is the perfect place for you. We stayed 10 days at this hotel ten minutes away from Gijon on the northern coast of Spain. We paid for a junior suite overlooking the outdoor pool which was spacious, bright, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel is situated in a rural location but has good road links to the nearest city Gijon and airports Oviedo and Santander. We flew via Madrid to Santander and had an easy journey to the hotel aided by excellent service from car hire firm Alamo. We enjoyed the fantastic buffet breakfast including freshly prepared eggs, bacon, omelettes, and pancakes. We booked B&B so we were free to experience the amazing fresh fish and high quality cuisine which this area is renowned for and which lived up to its reputation. We had dinner in the hotel a couple of nights and enjoyed beautifully presented food, and drinks with good company in the lounge. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and all will go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. Reception staff, who literally worked into the night to help us plan walks, restaurants, airport arrangements and for our wedding anniversary celebration we had cards, chocolate, fruit and sparkling wine delivered to our suite. Thanks to all and in particular Blanca, Jose, Cristina, Victor, Roberto on reception, dining room staff, Javi and those in the gym and spa keeping all areas spotlessly clean. The 24 hour gym has extensive modern equipment, spa facilities include sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi whilst treatments are a plenty and massage can be singles or with partners. A car is necessary to make the most of visiting coves and beaches nearby. Playa de Nora is the nearest beach a 5k drive away. From here there is a pathway which has spectacular cliff top views and can be used to either visit the next cove or all the way to Gijon with its impressive University building, sandy beaches, old town, restaurants, cake shops and upmarket El Corte Ingles department store. The hotel location offers peace and tranquility, comfort and luxury or you can visit the sights and tastes of Gijon city or can seek out mountain paths, coastal walks or lie on countless clean beaches generally with delicious seafood offerings. The choice is yours and you can celebrate any occasion in style. Thanks to all concerned in making our visit so enjoyable. Wendy and Robin"
"Very modern hotel, nice rooms & facilities. Bathroom quite funky. Bar area very nice with squishy sofas...bar service a little relaxed...but ok. Dinner was very tasty and included a bottle for the 2 of us as part of the dinner,B&B package. Our waiter was very jolly. Pool looked nice but unfortunately it was a grey day when we were there so didn't use the outside space. Breakfast included a really good selection of hot and cold food, but service was a little curt. Reception staff very nice."
"Everything is done superbly well here. The amenities are gorgeous, 25m lap pool (I don't see this Hotel is aimed at families), beautiful spa and very well equipped gym. We had an attic room which was very comfortable and in immaculate condition (as is the entire Hotel). Buffet breakfast, top notch, likewise the dinner service. But most importantly, staff at all levels do their utmost to make you feel welcome, we loved this place."

"I chose the silken Ciudad de Gijon for my christmas holidays as its not too far from my parents house in Gijón and the center. My husband and i stay for 6 nights, we cant fault the hotel in anything. Staff is very friendly, hotel is clean and rooms are quite big. (Maybe the only thing, carpets could be replaced). The jacuzzi donwstairs is great, most of the time we were on our own, or maybe another couple. Unfortunately the pool is freezing! We didnt have breakfast, but we used the gala cafeteria..that its quite good and no pricey. And next door, restaurante ébano does great breakfast for 6-9 €. It may look far from the center but in 10 minutes you are in the shopping area of Gijón. Great hotel and a very good price. Im sure we will be back. Muchas gracias a todo el personal"
"Silken Hotel in Gijon is modern, comfortable and clean. The front desk staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was large, with quality bed/bedding. The bathroom was large by European standards with double sinks, a soaking tub and separate toilet compartment. Their breakfast buffet is outstanding with lots of hot and cold choices. We enjoyed plenty of fresh fruits, cheeses, baked goods, meats and fresh orange juice every morning. Also, they have a coffee machine that offers a good selection of coffee brews. Some folks might find the hotel location a bit far from downtown and old town. That wasn’t a problem for us since we walk miles every day. If you arrive by train the station is next door. We recommend this hotel highly."
"This is very typical of 4* business hotels that are found in most major cities but also makes a great venue for a holiday stay in Gijon. Beginning to look a little tired on the outside, standards are high inside and the room we have was spacious, clean and well appointed including a very comfortable bed. Breakfast provided the full buffet experience in a large & well lit space that sadly lacked windows. We had one evening meal that was also perfectly serviceable- and would likely have done the trick on a business trip- but was hard pushed to compete when eating out in Spain is often so good. The hotel does have a decent size indoor pool but this was not an attractive prospect in August due to overwhelming heat of the room and powerful chlorine smells. Location is directly next to train station and about 2km from old town, easy to catch a bus if you dont fancy the walk. "

"We are regular travellers around Spain, and if we can afford it we always stay at one of the beautiful Paradores located around the country. Sadly, the Parador de Gijón was a real disappointment. From the outset it's hard to find, with very bad signposting. We were late to arrive because of this, and when we mentioned it to the receptionist he denied this was true, insisting that the signposting was fine. Oh well, you choose your battles, but is it right to argue with tired and clearly frustrated travellers about this, almost as if they were making it up? The room was very small for the amount of money we paid, with windows you couldn't open because of the amount of furniture stuffed in. However, the most baffling thing happened that evening, when my family and I sat down for a snack in the pretty bar area. We ordered drinks and asked if there were any sponge cakes or biscuits available. Please note that 4-6pm in Spain is PRIME snack time when most people sit down to enjoy a coffee/tea and something to eat. We were firmly and rudely told by the cold waitress that 'the kitchen was closed' before she marched off. 'Wow', we thought, 'a Parador with no snacks available?'. Even the simplest 'cafetería' in Spain has a few things on display to snack on, but this hotel that charges triple figures in the high season had zero food to offer. Not even a small croissant or pre-packaged cake. It's a Parador, remember. Five minutes later a local lady arrived and was offered a slice of sponge cake. The cake was produced and that was that. It seems that snacks are available but only if you're a local person... Amazingly bad service. Finally, the following morning my husband and I got scalded by the shower which turned boiling hot after two minutes by itself. Thank goodness we werent bathing our child, because I wouldn't even like to say what consequences that would have caused. We told the receptionist about this who didn't utter a word of apology and said she would mention it to her superiors. The cleaning staff, however, were extremely kind and friendly, especially to our small daughter. Let's get real. Whoever is running this so-called Parador needs to work on staff training and levelling this hotel up to the standards of other Paradores in Spain because, at the moment, it has far to go. We have stayed in hotels paying less than half of what this place charges and recieved far better, friendlier and proactive treatment. Poor and the worst Parador we have stayed in."
"We have stayed in this Parador a few times and we really looked to our return visit this time. Everyone is so friendly and there all lots of restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi ride. We would definitely return again!"
"Excellent stay in the Gijon Parador, we then took the train to Oviedo to visit the Cathedral and Museum there which were very good. The Gijon Parador is located next to a park which made a pleasant walk into the city centre."

"During our Europe trip, we had one day stay at this hotel. The hotel was excellent, well maintained. The rooms, beds and linen were of good quality. The bathe rooms and it’s amenitie were of a 7 star class. We appreciate the management for keep it very attractive and appealing to guest to make them comfortable. The buffet was with limited items but one can easily make his choices . The hotel is very close to beach"
"An only average Hotel. We paid extra for the sea view room. However the room was only average size, and badly situated above the Restaurant. This had Fire Escape stairs below our window on which the smokers socialised between 9 - 11pm, with the result that we got noise and fumes through our window. Shutting it didn't help much, so we couldn't get the quiet evening we had looked forward to. We discussed this the next day with Reception Staff but they were not able to offer an alternative room (though the smokers went elsewhere(?). Breakfast was expensive so we went to a local bar. Parking was expensive, which we had to pay for security peace of mind."
"Loooved it! We have been going on many family/friends special occassions and it has always been great!,26 € luxurious and tasty food, beautiful table setting. Friendly staff specially waitress yesterday 15th dc 2019. Maybe a little too slow service and more coffee needed but a MUST to have a TERRIFIC day!"
