"The Courtyard is a very nice hotel amid a cluster of similar properties. It is older, but is aging well. The room was refirbished since our last stay a number of years ago, was exceptionally clean and maintained in new condition. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. At 3 AM, a party staying on our floor came in loudly, sounding like they were moving furniture, banking on walls, and yelling at each other. That, of course, wasn't the hotel's fault, but will factor into our decision to stay there again. The big TV was great EXCEPT when it would freeze about 20 minutes into a program and have to be turned off and on again to get back to the program (finally decided I didn't want the hassle). The big negative for me was the very low commode; you almost have to sit on the floor! Bummer. Other than the noise at 3 in the morning, if not for the commode seat being almost on the floor and the bothersome TV, I'd easily rate this property "excellent.""
"I stayed in this hotel for three nights over two different visits in November 2019. Both stays were very nice. The hotel is newly renovated, so it feels new even though it is an older property. The king room is a little small, but it is totally fine for two people. I like that the closet is plenty big & can store suitcases to get them out of the way. The little seating area with a loveseat & ottoman is a good place to lounge & relax. I never had much interaction with the staff, but they were always polite & helpful when I did talk with them. I will definitely consider staying here again when I am in Hickory."
"The renovation is complete. It's a beautiful hotel. Clean, gorgeous. The staff is amazing. It's a Courtyard at its best. Outdoor areas are so nice, with a fire pit and a variety of seating areas. Bistro has mixed drinks and wine and beer. My quesadilla was so good. 5 star experience at a mid-priced hotel. And again, the staff! So good. Honestly, best place to stay in Hickory."

"I booked this hotel for my daughter and I for a night while she had a tournament in town. I booked it based on reviews but the primary draw was the indoor pool. When we checked in we were told the pool would not be open until the next day (we were only staying on night). We were told we could go next door to the Fairfield Inn and use their pool. That was a safety issue. As a lone female I'd have to cross a parking lot in the dark with a young child in tow into a hotel we were not guests in. The hotel was well kept, the breakfast bar delicious and staff friendly. However for the price per night I do believe we should have been offered compensation (discount??) for the pool being unavailable during or stay or notified prior. I would have booked next door had I known and avoided disappointing my child. Also I picked the second floor thinking it would be more secure than the first with less foot traffic. However, I got there to find out that the 2nd floor has a door that opens to a parking lot so it's not as secure for women/children travelers as you may think."
"Friendly and helpful staff- everyone I interacted with asked me if there was anything they could do to make my stay more enjoyable or if I was enjoying my stay. The room was clean, I appreciated the different bath care products in the room including q-tips, cotton balls, makeup remover, etc.. After staying in a separate hotel for business a few weeks prior and not being satisfied, this will be my go-to hotel for business travels in the Hickory area. "
"We stayed one night at this Hampton Inn while traveling. The hotel is very clean and appears to have been redecorated and/or remodeled recently. Our room with two queen beds was fairly large, and everything was in good order; more toiletries were provided than we typically find at hotels. The breakfast buffet offered a very good variety of items, and the woman attending it was constantly checking to make sure that the guests had everything that they needed."

"Ok. I’m the kind of person to book a hotel just to relax for the weekend. I was able to do just that. The front desk staff are very sweet and caring. They go above and beyond my requests when I forget something or my Grubhub driver does! Thank you all for such a great, quiet, friendly atmosphere. "

"Stayed here the last weekend and would really recommend, with one caveat. This is a lovely property, good breakfast and generally courteous and welcoming staff, except for the housekeeper. My husband hadn’t slept well and was feeling a bit below par, so was sleeping in at 11.30am - checkout is noon. Housekeeping staff were in the corridor outside, knocking loudly on doors and bellowing (and I’m not exaggerating), “HOUSEKEEPING!” I thought we’d be immune from this behavior, because I’d placed the Do Not Disturb notice on our door. To my surprise, we too were targeted with this behavior. I opened the door, only to be told aggressively by the housekeeper that our door had been open - a lie. Silently, I held up the Do Not Disturb notice and then told her my husband wasn’t feeling too well, so please to come back later. A few minutes later, I went to reception and complained and the lady there could not have been nicer. She extended our checkout by an hour, which was above and beyond and said she’d speak to the housekeeper. As I returned to our room, I walked past the housekeeper and she smirked at me. Her attitude seemed to be that it was part of her job to get lazy hotel guests up and out of the rooms on time. No, actually, we’re entitled to enjoy the room we’ve paid for up until the checkout time, in peace and without disturbance - especially on a Sunday morning! I hope that she gets some extra training to help her understand this fundamental part of her job, that seems to have passed her by. When knocking on guests’s door, do so with appropriate decorum - not shouting like a fishwife - and if guests have placed a Do Not Disturb notice on the door, respect their wishes until after checkout time."
"I stayed here for my vacation in November for a week while my husband was and still is working in Hickory. This hotel has won the torchbearer award several times and I can definitely see why. The staff was friendly, professional and the newest addition on the front desk, I believe she had just been there 60 days was so personable. Cookies in the evening, hot coffee and hot chocolate. Our room was very spacious, nicely decorated and had all the extra outlets to charge our phones, etc. I made crafts, Christmas wreaths and snowflakes during my visit. The breakfast was great with several hot food choices but I chose the yogurt (strawberry banana) yum and the over all stay was just perfect and wonderful. I was able to relax and I was never bothered by housekeeping and if I asked them for something to swap out towels and trash they were right on it and they were all so nice. Very much hard workers and got that southern hospitality down pat. Oh, I almost forgot, the bathroom was fantastic. It had a really deep bathtub perfect for soaking in and the hot water was exceptionally hot. I had a cold for the week and it helped to ease up my aching bones."
"I could not be happier with our recent stay at this property. Everyone we encountered from the front desk to the beverage and food attendants to housekeeping were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in great condition and the lobby area is very nice. I was blown away by the breakfast. There was so much variety and everything was delicious! I love that a hot beverage service was available all day in the lobby. Our room was very clean and attractive. The bathroom was clean and spacious and i loved the toiletry options. We will definitely stay here again upon returning to Hickory!"

"The location is very easy to find, just at the high speed side, the disadvantage is that high-speed noise will be transmitted to the house at night. It is convenient to pick up the car and breakfast is OK. It is also close to the nearby business district and can't be reached."
"Ok, it’s the most affordable price in the nearby few. Breakfast has bread, milk and fruit, just no eggs. Parking spaces are particularly adequate."

"We started our stay, at the Days Inn - 13th avenue - in Hickory, NC - a few days before arrival before a conference. Our stay started out as an average stay at an average hotel. Check in. Go to the room. Leave for dinner and a conference. Come back. Go to sleep. Until about 1:30am... about 2 1/2 hours into our sleep. Then - the fire alarm began to go off - a pipe burst somewhere. A pipe bursts - in the fire alarm sprinkler system... never seen THAT before - and I've worked security for 35+ years. I called another Days Inn Conover - in Newton, NC. That was a mistake - but, we didn't know that then. And the Days Inn Conover desk clerk was fairly rude on the phone. No problem. It was about 2:30 am. I figured that he had not been hired for his exemplary customer service skills. We asked if a NON-SMOKING room was available and for how much. He told us. We agreed. We would be there in 20 minutes. We told other guests, at the 13th Avenue Days Inn - which was being evacuated - where we were going. They got rooms there too. Ooops. My bad. Sorry. When we arrived. The rude desk clerk was still rude. But, it was going on 3am. We were tired. We identified ourselves - he had spoken to us 20 minutes ago. But, then, he told us the rooms were $10.00 more than we were told. (Which was about $25 more than the conference rate we were GUARANTEED at the other Days Inn.) The rude desk clerk charged us more. We asked again for a non-smoking room. Fine. It was more money. But we were tired. We paid. The room stunk. Literally. It smelled like a BAD smoking room - that someone had tried to cover up with BAD rom spray perfume. But - we were tired. We ended up getting to sleep about 4am... and we had to wake up a few ours later for a meeting. We were in a SMOKING ROOM. Even though we had asked - twice - for a non-smoking room. Even though we were only in that room for about 4 hours - we were charged full price. We were supposed to be there, for the conference for three days. The day shift clerk was nice... but we still didn't get the conference rate. But, we did get a non-smoking room. Our stay was an average stay at an average hotel. You can do better. Don't do Days Inn. Especially not on 13th street in Hickory, NC."
"I stayed here frequently for business over several months. Rick, the manager always made sure I was well taken care of. I generally got the same room each time. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The tub was deep and perfect for a long soak after a hard day. Breakfast was available every day. I will continue to stay here anytime I have business in Hickory."
"Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, warm and c;lean room, quiet, delicious breakfast. Can't ask for anymore than that! Will use this hotel again if in the area. In fact, we just learned about Wyndham properties and we are quite pleased!"

"NOTE: We never did get feedback, nor response, from hotel management. We booked our stay, at the Days Inn - 13th avenue - in Hickory, NC - a few days before arrival before a conference. Our stay started out as an average stay at an average hotel. Check in. Go to the room. Leave for dinner and a conference. Come back. Go to sleep. Until about 1:30am... about 2 1/2 hours into our sleep. Then - the fire alarm began to go off. No big deal. It happens. I wake up. I check out what is going on. No smoke. No fire. And the alarm continues. And continues. Then, the fire department and the police arrive. And - the alarm continues. The 1st responders were yelling at the ONE night clerk to shut off the alarm. The ONE night clerk was trying to call managers. No response. No one would tell us WHY the alarm had gone off... for maybe 15-20 minutes. Then we find out - a pipe burst somewhere. A pipe bursts - in the fire alarm sprinkler system... never seen THAT before - and I've worked security for 35+ years. The voodoo fruit - a large lime with a couple of jalapeno peppers attached, like wings - hanging over the front desk - in plain sight - was supposed to be for protection. It was supposed to "ward off evil spirits" - according to the desk clerk, when we checked in. It did not work. Then, the water started to flow. It started above the 2nd floor. Water from the sprinklers started flooding the 2nd floor rooms. Not surprising. It happens. Then, it began flooding the first floor rooms. We were on the 1st floor. I had to hurriedly gather all of our toiletries and belongings out of the bathroom. And then - water started pouring - not dripping - it was a stream of water - onto the bed. We started packing up our belongings hurriedly. By now, it was about an hour into the fire alarm. Thankfully, the loud alarm was shut off - after about 20 minutes it seems. But - no one was telling us what to do. I started to pack up everything into the car. It was confusion everywhere. I called another Days Inn - in Newton, NC. That was a mistake - but THAT is another review. After about an hour, we were finally able to get a refund, from the desk clerk. Except - we didn't get a refund on our credit card. Not that morning. Not the next day. Not until two days later. And we never did see a manager. No apologies. No feed-back. No response. And the Days Inn that we went to charged us more. Not the conference rate that had been guaranteed. We ended up paying more than $100 than we had originally been charged. We ended up getting to sleep about 4am... and we had to wake up a few ours later for a meeting. The Days Inn - 13th avenue - in Hickory, NC - ended up being completely evacuated. Everyone was told to leave - by the fire department. Not by hotel staff. We never saw a manager. A manager never spoke to us. Never called us. The voodoo fruit hanging above the front desk should have been our first clue. Worst hotel experience ever."
"We spent the weekend at the Days Inn and suites for an event for my daughter. Hotel looked brand new or newly remodeled on the outside. First appearance was great and plenty of parking for guests. Walking in the lobby it looked newly refurbished also but you could see bits of the old showing through. Check-in was quick and easy and the desk clerk was very nice and very helpful. We loaded our items and found a rolling rack right by the door. Elevator was slow but not really an issue. We made it to our room and I did like that our key was in a clear plastic sleeve so I knew there were no germs on it. Our room was spacious and lots of lighting. It had two double beds and although spacious the beds were hard. The bathroom was roomy and had been renovated. Everything seemed to be very low to the ground however. There were some cracked tiles in the bathroom but it was clean and even the corners of the bathroom had no dirt. Once again it looks like the rooma are being updated one area at a time. The tv was large and new and they had one of the remotes that can be wiped down for each guest. Refrigerator was older but kept items cold and worked well. Room was quiet at night and we slept great even with hard beds. Breakfast seemed like it would be great but it was not. The sausage was cold and biscuits were hard. The gravy was runny and breakfast area needs to be updated as well. We also got to visit the 3rd floor conference area/ballroom for an event and it was recently sized but also needs some updating. Overall it was a pretty good stay. I would have given it 5 stars but breakfast needs improvement. I would recommend if your needing a weekend stay or just somewhere for the evening. I would stay here again."
"I like Days Inn Suites as they have refrigerators and microwaves in the room and there prices are reasonable. Normally they have breakfast but during COVID-19 they didn't. The room was great and the bathroom surprised me with a large Jacuzzi tub, not alot of pressure from the jets but felt good on my tired back. Bed was a King size and great. Days Inn have been stepping up lately and the tub was a nice surprise."
