"Whitley hall has shown us fantastic customer service last night, nothing was too much trouble for them. We arrived in our campervan to collect a takeaway meal, the meal was delivered to our van piping hot, they didnt have the gluten free options but they gave us many alternatives that was nice, they even gave us a free gluten free brownie! On the house ..very kind gesture..we were ready to go only to find that our campervan wouldn't start !! RAC was called, they said 3.5hr wait ! Wow,.we ate our meal in the camper, the meal was lovely and the beer for 1p a pint was delicious too ( only one of us was drinking) ..I messaged Whitley hall and asked if they had any jump leads available..Whitley hall to the rescue!.they kindly came out and jump started our van ..off we went 5min later.Top service from Whitley hall,in both food quality and customer service! Thankyou. We can highly recommend and will hopefully return at Christmas..Lynne and Lydia"
"Booked a stay here last minute due to being not far from where I live. My first visit to this hotel an definitely won’t be my last. Upon arrival i had already checked in online due to Covid, so I just had to collect my key. The lady on reception was very polite and friendly gave me my sterilised key. I had the peacock suite a beautiful traditional room that has a new jacuzzi bath fitted. My stay was very pleasant I wish i could have had more time here the hotel is a beautiful old hall with lots of character. The food an bar service were very good an felt very well organised due to Covid procedures in place. All the staff were polite and friendly. I can’t wait to return when allowed to."
"As soon as I arrived on the morning of the wedding, the reception staff were amazing,so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The day ran so smooth thanks to the staff, it was a very beautiful and memorable day. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast had so much choice, I would definitely recommend whitley hall to anyone. Thank you mrs harpham room12"

"We had an amazing day at the Woodman for our Wedding day! We had to change a number of things about our day due to COVID restrictions. After contacting Jordan we were able to start planning our day (just weeks before the day). Jordan made us feel extremely comfortable and re assured us everything about our day would be amazing. He brought our excitement for the day back after so much heart ache. The planning process was so easy and Jordan was fantastic! The actual day was just perfect and we could not have wished for anything more. Dan did a fantastic job of looking after everyone and we never went without anything. All the guests were singing his praises. The food we had chosen was just devine especially the beef - our praises go to the chef too! We stayed over in the Thunderbridge suite which was also fabulous! Clean, lovely new decor and the most amazing bath! Thank you so much to the team at the Woodman, you gave us the perfect wedding we had wished for and more!"
"Stayed one night (a Sunday) whilst in the area for work. Couldn't believe the excellent room for the price. Very comfortable and reasonably quiet (room was downstairs and next to the pavement/road but wasn't overtly noisey). One issue was that the radiator wasn't working well, but this was obvioulsy known as an additional heater was provided which kept the room plenty warm enough. Had a very nice meal in the busy pub. Breakfast was a slight dissapointment due to there being no hot option (advised all the cookers had tripped due to a power cut?) but had a enough from the cold buffet to compensate. Staff were pleasant. Overall a great stay at a great price, just over £50 for dinner, bed and breakfast, couldn't be beaten for the quality of the stay."
"I was recommended the Woodman inn by a colleague and I was very impressed with the overall experience. The rooms were very spacious, clean and provided a very comfortable night sleep. The pub dinner in the evening provided a great selection with a log burner to keep you warm in the background. The 16 ounce T bone steak was fantastic. The owners were extremely helpful, friendly and did a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning. I would most definitely recommend!!"

"Having stayed at Tankersley in the past I didn’t hesitate to book in for my husbands birthday, however we had been left very disappointed and disheartened. We booked on a special deal and upgraded to a suite with wine. Upon checking in we found that the bedroom was dirty, the bathroom had not been cleaned and the floor needed a Hoover. The very kind receptionist gave us free coffee whilst the room was cleaned and arranged for the wine to be put in the room that was missing. The room it’s self was very poor. The windows need repairing and were letting in a breeze, the bedroom window had parts falling off of it. The carpet was horrible and in desperate need of a steam clean, the bathroom ceiling had a hole in it. Not the usual high standards you would expect from Tankersley. We went to dinner having stayed before and expected the same high standards again. However the food was nothing special and looked like something you would be served in whetherspoons. My steak was chucked on the plate, there was no presentation at all. I was also served a drink with a very drunk fly in it. I appreciate that we have Covid and things are tough but that is no excuse to let standards slip, if anything standards should be higher during this time. The breakfast grab bag was horrible and we ended up leaving it. I can not understand having stayed at a different hotel who is also part of the same chain how standards can be completely different. The other hotel prepared you a freshly made hot sandwich and gave you access to a coffee machine to help your self, at Tankersley you however get a microwave sandwich and a barely warm cup of coffee. Horrible I do hope this was just an off day and that if we stay in the future things will be back to the normal high quality standards. I had one very disappointed husband since we had been looking forward to this for a while. I have emailed the hotel manager but not had a reply"
"I recently held a business meeting at Tankersley Manor, there were 12 of us. The room was lovely and quiet and warm! The staff were incredibly accommodating as we changed a few things last minute. Our food was fabulous, no waiting, no issues... this is rare for me! We had a fabulous evening, I can’t recommend Tankersley more. Thank you for a lovely evening. "
"This was my second visit on a spa nights stay. It comes with treatments, use of spa facilities, lunch, evening meal and breakfast and overnight stay all for £129 per person. Great value for money and the food was beautiful at every serving. Special mention to Mohammed who looked after us so well at lunch and took time to chat with us. Will be coming back"

"What a great little find in the middle of Holmfirth. Stayed in a room at the back of the Tap House for 3 nights/ The Rooms at the Nook. The room was big and bath /shower large and fully tiled room ,perfectly clean. Plenty of tea/coffee and TV in the room. light or full breakfast included, well cooked and service great, I even had Smoked Salmon and scrambled egg off the extras bored one day (no extra charge) Evenings in " Tap House " for a pint from the Micro Brewery and a meal was also very good. A small ish menu but the food was good and staff very friendly, my steak on the first night , complements to the Chef (and the local butcher) also pulled pork in a yorkshire was massive and tastey, Made time for another pint !!. Odd reviews complain !! at the noise , you are rite in the middle of Holmfirth with Hotels, bars and food around you and music in the old cinema on a lot of weekends. We found our room quite quiet on the first floor ,as I said " You are in the middle of everthing " The only down we found was no car park, but plenty of parking near by which was FREE from 4pm until 8am the next morning. As we were off out each day it only cost us 60 p for a couple of hours in the morning. PS . The selection of beers from the Micro Brewery is fantastic I tried a few over the 3 nights. I am taking home two eight pint kegs as presents so hope I am there when they are opened. Dave."
"We were going to stay just the one night, but we were having such a lovely time exploring Holmfirth, we asked if we could stay another night, ,the lady was very accommodating and offered us another room, as we had booked the room with the low beam knowingly, as it was the only room available, but while it was very clean, and comfy bed with lovely sheets, the beam was a slight issue, so we were moved to another lovely clean bright airy room overlooking the pub, we had no noise issues at all. The breakfast was served promptly with local produce, the location is perfect, the kitchenette is a great idea, we got food from Sainsbury’s and could cook it for our lunch, but treated ourselves to a delightful meal in the evening. We parked in the co op car park, £4 for the day, this is the only downside, and that is I had to get out of the comfy bed to put the ticket on the car at 8.00am. Would well recommend here👍"
"We were at a gig in Holmfirth. Took a while to find a decent hotel , then The rooms at the nook popped up on my search . So glad it did . Fantastic location. When we arrived the staff were so friendly showing us to our room , and a tour . Our room was at the back . Extremely quiet . The room was spotlessly clean . Huge towels , white duvet. Loved the sound of the river outside. We slept well . Breakfast was in a lovely bright room . I had the breakfast special, egg and salmon. My goodness it was amazing. Cannot recommend The Rooms at the nook more highly . 100% will be returning "

"We wanted to visit on Christmas Day but unfortunately the sittings were fully booked so as an alternative we decided to have Christmas Eve as a special evening with friends. We were not disappointed , the settings the ambiance ,service and of course the food were first rate. A very warm welcoming front desk presented our table with crackers and other items setting the seasonal tone. We were sat beside the Christmas tree and during the evening a local brass band visited and played Christmas carols and songs which really added to the atmosphere. The food being , duck and fish was outstanding with excellent starters of prawn salad and scotch eggs, just excellent quality and value. All in all a comfortable start to our Christmas experience, thank you to all the team."
"I have sent an email to the spa but not received a reply so here goes. Visited with my daughter on a school run deal which was £70 each. On arrival at 9.30am we were asked to fill in forms, asked for tea whilst we did that, waited 10 mins, asked for the tea again and it showed up , no apology. We were given robes and assumed the towels were in the spa as we were not given any , this was not the case so I went back to reception and the member of staff seemed reluctant to give me them , I found out later there was a problem with the washers in the laundry. We had our treatments which were nice , however neither of our therapists introduced themselves and explained the treatments. Lunch was included in the package and we had to ask for menus, the food was lovely but no one came to ask us if it was ok which to us is a common courtesy. I did speak to Jade when we left to give feedback ,it was the lady who did my treatment as I asked for her name and she explained about the towel shortage due to laundry problems. We had a great day together after a busy week and the relaxation was well needed, however we will not be revisiting due to the lack of attention to detail , customers should not have to be asking for everything when it should be provided . I always like to support local businesses but there is so much competition in the market we can receive better value for money and customer service elsewhere. "
"We had a wonderful time here at Christmas 2019. We were seated downstairs, good atmosphere. Very well organised, great service, friendly staff and excellent food. Exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend."

"My wife’s daughter lives nearby and we hadn’t seen her since January. She doesn’t have room to accommodate us so Premier inn was the obvious choice. It was great value, the room was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was great. No reason not to come again. Recommended. P.S. there were some good COVID 19 safety measures in place. Some examples... 1. The breakfast buffet is no longer. You order and it is bought to your table. 2. They don’t clean your room during your stay unless you ask, therefore minimising the risk of a cleaner contaminating the room. 3. There is hand sanitizer by every door."
"Arrived and booked into room 41 had to get extra pillows and some more sugar and milk this is normal for us. Had a good stay it was very quiet and we had a good sleep. Breakfast was disappointing not the usual selection we are used to partially due to Covid. I felt it was not worth the money for the continental choice. We chose to get breakfast the next day at the nearby McDonald’s. "
"Great hotel . Staff friendly and all areas of hotel was spotlessly clean. Felt very comfortable Staying in this hotel in present circumstances. Restaurant was also spotless . We witnessed staff cleaning not only table tops but chairs and any surrounding areas after customer had left . Tables well spaced out. Will defiantly stay again"

"The hotel is very clean. In the morning, I went to the restaurant through the beautiful English garden. It felt very good. In addition to regular coffee and drinks, the breakfast was quite good. The front desk is so-so. It is about 5-6 stops by rail from the University of Sheffield. It feels a little bit remote. There is a large supermarket/parking lot nearby. From the station, pass the supermarket back to the hotel. There were some fast food a few hundred meters behind the hotel, but we did not go."

"Breakfast feels OK, English breakfast! The rooms in the accommodation are also very clean and tidy! Within 100 meters of the surrounding area, there are KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and other fast food, more convenient! Hotel service is not bad!"

"Stayed here for the first time this weekend and will certainly be coming back and recommending to friends and family. We stayed in a standard room, which whilst the decor could do with an upgrade, I felt for the price we paid it was a great size room, with a great view and all we could hope for for the price. The restaurant is lovely and full of character, staff are attentive and the food was fantastic. My husband and I had the chateaubriand and it melted in the mouth, just beautiful. The full English breakfast the next morning was lovely and we had a really nice stay. All the staff were friendly and attentive and what a fabulous location for an overnight getaway."
"We had a family birthday dinner of 8 adults, 3 toddlers and 1 baby (so we needed a fair bit of room) we booked over the phone, and explained who was going and we needed extra room to accommodate for us all. When we arrived, we were pushed into a corner behind a doorway. Table wasn't big enough to fit us all, no room for a pushchair and 2 of the toddlers in highchairs couldn't actually sit to the table with us. Food was quick, and nice apart from the custard with the desserts which was cold. Service was ok, majority of the servers didn't interact apart from Jordan. He spoke to us, and made us feel valued. Apologised over the lack of space. There was an odd smell at some point for approx 20/30 mins, like a sewerage smell - Awful! Overall, decent afternoon. Would I go again, highly doubtful. Overpriced!"
"I’ve been to this restaurant a number of times over the years. The food is excellent quality, though I had the Pork Belly on this recent visit and the portion was pretty skinny. Staff are efficient but not a lot of interaction. The worst thing however on this recent visit was the smell, in the area with tables towards the back of the restaurant. At first I thought it was the toilets, however upon a visit to the toilet I discovered the smell there was actually much more pleasant than in the restaurant! The sewage smell was terrible, and when I overheard someone ask one of the staff they claimed they could not smell anything....... I then noticed that just about every plug socket had an electric air freshener in it, and there was one smelly candle burning in a corner...... For a restaurant of this stature, with the prices they charge, they need to get it sorted quickly. In the meantime stop piling people into this area, damaging your reputation and putting profit above all else......"
