Ermou 32, Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece
"From the second I wearily walked into the reception area and was greeted by the lovely Agapi with a huge smile, friendly attitude and a gamut of useful information - I knew I'd picked the right hotel! The first thing to say about the place is that it's in an absolutely perfect location for all the things you might want in Thessaloniki... literally everything apart from the Old Town is pretty much within 10 minutes walk, including Ladadika (the nightlife area), Arch of Galerius, Aristotle Square, the seafront, Roman Forum, and a whole plethora of churches. Better still, for those going to/from the airport by bus (1X) then the hotel is just 5 mins easy walk from the relevant stops - very handy! Nearby to the hotel is all manner of banks/ATMS, supermarkets, restaurants, snack bars and bars... so no worries there either. The rooms are very chic and modern, immaculately clean and the aircon is super quiet (and efficient). There's no pool or real area for sunbathing, but the charming roof terrace on the top floor is where the lovely fresh and plentiful breakfast is served each morning by the super friendly staff. And that takes me back to the staff - alongside the location then it is the friendly and personal nature of the staff that really stand out at this place. Throughout my stay they would always address me by my name (a nice personal touch!) and would spend time chatting about how my day had been, as well making suggestions (and reservations) for the best local restaurants/bars... even resulting in a fun little competition to see how their "best" local seafood restaurant compared to "my" best one from earlier in the trip! It's not the cheapest hotel in the city, but it's definitely still reasonably priced - and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.... highly recommended. ps :- Thanks to all of the staff (especially Agapi & Stella) and keep up the good work!!"
"The Modernist is going to get five stars from me. The ladies in reception are the friendliest and most helpful of any hotel I have ever been to. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast utterly divine. The breakfast bar is arranged behind Perspex, with due attention to Covid preventing hygiene and looks just like the best deli you ever saw. Seeded bagels dangling on little hooks. Fresh orange juice…"
"This hotel proved to be excellent. Very stylish into detail with excellent rooms. Service from check in until check out, superb. Once in the room I got a call from the reception if everything was fine. You are really treated as a guest. Location downtown Saloniki with thousands of great places. 300 meter from the market where you find Greek hospitality too. A must to stay here!"
