"I was glad to reserve a room at this hotel. I was driving from the Blue Ridge Mountains through Appomattox, VA on my way toward Richmond. I chose this hotel because I am familiar with the area and was going to be meeting friends/family near Ft. Lee. Therefore, it was more convenient for me to stay in this area (Colonial Heights) instead of driving another 20-30 minutes to Richmond. I will begin with the positive factors about this hotel: (1) It is easy to access from I-95, I-85, and nearby Highway 460. (2) Caitlyn at the front desk is very professional and respectful. (3) This hotel is part of the Hilton family and I was able to book the hotel using my HiltonHonors account. (4) The hotel makes an effort to provide hand sanitizer in the lobby. (5) The hotel has stickers on the doors of hotel rooms indicating that they have been sanitized, which is very important during the COVID-19 pandemic. (6) Located approximately 5 minutes from Swaders Sports Park. (7) This hotel is located in "the circle" that surrounds the nearby Southpark Mall and numerous other shopping plazas and restaurants. Excellent location! (8) Comfortable king-sized bed in room 519 (9) Microwave and refrigerator in room 519 The following aren't complaints...However, these are my suggestions for areas in which the hotel can improve: (1) If the Lysol label is on an item, does it really mean that it's been sanitized? To make my point, I took a photograph of me holding the remote that has the Lysol label on it. What if I had just sneezed or coughed into my hand then picked up the remote? (I didn't, I'm merely making a point.) If room service left the label on the remote and didn't actually clean it after a guest staying there, then the label does not guarantee the item is clean. (2) No hangers in the room. I'm not sure if the hangers were removed due to the COVID19 pandemic or if they hotel doesn't offer hangers at all. (3) Lampshade in room 519 was cracked. (4) Curtains in the room were torn. (5) Night stand next to the bed had debris in it. The debris appeared to be an eyelash hair and dirt. Yet, the Lysol sticker was on the door indicating the room had been properly cleaned, albeit it appears as if the nightstand drawer wasn't cleaned. Overall, this hotel is average. It is suitable for a night and I'd consider staying again, but may opt for the Hilton Garden Inn located in the same vicinity less than a mile away in this area that surrounds the the Southpark Mall and surrounding shopping plazas. Competing brands are Comfort Suites which is walking-distance across the parking lot, Holiday inn which is also walking-distance across the parking lot. In 2015 I stayed at the Comfort Inn (perhaps Comfort Suites, possible name change) and prefer the Hampton Inn. The areas for improvement I mention aren't the end of the world. Yet, from what I could see this hotel franchise has some improvements and attention to detail fact"
"Really nice place to stay. Favorite was the complimentary breakfast. Had hot oatmeal every morning with bagel and sausage. If I overslept they had to go bags to take with you for the day. Don't forget to get your yummy cookies at the front desk before you head to your room for the night"
"I traveled with my daughter who was on business. While she met her business obligations I had fun with my nephew and his 13 year old son whom I had never met until this trip. I have stayed at many Hampton Inns and have never been let down in any major way."

"Clean, clean, clean. Off the beaten path but well worth it. These are always great hotels. The suites are big and spacious, not far from stores and restaurants. Can't say enough good things, Two hd tvs, livingroom, kitchen and reasonably priced. Pool always full though but quiet for the most part. One time some guests were too noisy and staff quieted them down immediately upon us letting them know. Price is reasonable too for what you are getting."
"This hotel is good for long term and short term stays. There is a full kitchen in the room. You can choose from studio, one bedroom and two bedroom. The bed was comfortable. There was a coin operated laundry room. The staffs were friendly. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, there are free light food and soft drinks available in the lobby. Guests may sit around talking while enjoying the food."
"Stayed here twice over the thanksgiving holiday. Overall my experience was underwhelming. Of special note on the night of 11/30/2019 the hotel staff let a massive group of people take over the hotel lobby and have a pizza and wine/beer party. This large group was so loud my wife and I couldn’t hear the hotel employee who was checking us in. That’s pretty lousy Marriott. In addition the noise between floors is pretty bad. And while the hotel was “renovated” most room furnishings show significant wear and tear. Breakfast is just alright. I guess you can’t expect much for a hotel that’s along the highway. Good enough for a night I suppose. "

"From the phone call to book, to arriving at the hotel, the staff was really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of my questions. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and the food was very good. The staff at the hotel was exceptionally nice. If in the area again, we would stay again. "
"I am a Hilton person through and through. I will say that the staff was very friendly, even accommodated me checking in early. The hotel is in a great location, plenty to do. There is a Panera next door too! A target very close, plenty of places to walk to. The hotel itself could use a little updating but still a good stay. "
"The King suite room w/the whirlpool was amazing. The room was clean and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place especially because the breakfast is one of a kind!!"

"I primarily stay at Hilton properties, and have 20+ years working in the industry and know what standards should be. The last 3 stays with Hilton properties all have me wondering what's going on with the brand. This one shows its age and the housekeeper did what they could with it. Bed was saggy/way too soft and not up to typical standards, bathroom vanity shows damage, asked for no fragrance spray in room (now an unfortunate Hilton standard that needs to go away forever), but got spray anyway. Nobody knows what's in that stuff and for asthma and MCS sufferers it can be downright dangerous. Food for dinner (Pizza Monday) was simply awful and worse than school pizza. Breakfast was very disappointing also with limited selection and sub-par quality. Next evening wasn't much better. Not sure why, but this location also limits the beverages in the manager's reception. Never saw that before where it was provided. Common area bathrooms show their wear and age. Pool had no lights. THIS IS A CODE VIOLATION...FIX IT...also a very dangerous situation for kids! As mentioned...3rd Hilton owned property that is well below standards and I really believe I am going to cash out my honors points and go elsewhere....oh...you don't get much any more as those have been seriously devalued too."
"We arrived after midnight with young kid and found out we had a problem with our booking via a third party website. But the hotel staff Jazzmyn and her manager April were very friendly and helpful and they helped us solve the problem even though it was already very late in the evening."
"Nice clean and great service especially the ladies at happy hour Alyallah and April. The hotel is close proximity to places to eat, and quick access to 95. Military members can enjoy a quick ride to Ft. Lee and a easy drive to Richmond."

"Staff was kind and helpful as I was traveling with two small children. The breakfast still had a variety of options for being a to-go box. The room we were in, king suite, was clean, smelled nice, had extra blankets and pillows for pullout sofa. The only issue was the keurig had a short in the cord so I had to hold it a certain to get to work. Not a big deal. Wifi was sufficient to stream shows and get work done. "
"Very nice! Clean hotel. The beds are very comfortable! "

"When you walk into the Courtyard Marriott, it “looks” great. Nice staff, clean (for a hotel), attractive in that impersonal but inviting urban chic decor. But there are issues here. At one of the highest price points in Chester, you’d think you would get at least a corkscrew if you have a bottle of wine. No. Corkscrews, like the blue footed boobie, seem to be extinct in this neck of suburban Virginia. But, a staff member will send up a maintenance person to personally deliver the lone corkscrew to you, literally stand there as you open for wine, and wait until you give. It. Back. Note to Marriott: are you )$&@ing kidding me? 170 bucks a night and you’re afraid I’m going to steal your corkscrew? Mmmmkayyy. Then there is the “free” internet and the advertising how you can stream Netflix in your room! Wowee! Yeah, the only way that’s gonna happen is if you use your Netflix account lololol.... ofcourse, to stream anything, Marriott insists that you “upgrade” your internet coverage for 5 bucks a day. And sign up for their app, which will bombard you w marketing calls until you die. That’s right you pay them to access your own account... And they use your info to telemarket you - so your internet isn’t free unless all you want to do is open emails. The intentions seem good, but there’s some stuff falling between the cracks. There are surcharges and fees that seem arbitrary. The room looks clean but the carpets literally stink. The alarm clock cannot be reset unless you unscrew the back, look online for instructions and a GMT map to determine your zone. Hotel guests are not toddlers. We should not have to use a screwdriver to set an alarm. There are plenty of towels but they are like sandpaper. The bedding is nice but the wallpaper is peeling. The room cards only work sporadically. There is literally zero help for carts and baggage. It’s like a designer and an accountant got together and designed this joint and the accountant realized he’s gotta pay for this fancy design job. So they nickel and dime you to death and cut corners. This is why I’m starting to use Airbnb and similar facilities. Believe it or not, they try harder. I don’t have to beg for a corkscrew. Internet and Netflix really are free, and surprise, your feet don’t stick to the carpet bc there is luxury flooring."
"Fast check in. The room was really spacious. Bed, couch, fridge, plus a coffee table. Has a balcony you can actually open and use with a pretty view and huge closet. If you need space this is the place to stay. It’s also near a lot of places to eat. You can Uber eats, or door dash. "
"We were in Chester for one night driving through. We have never been to the area and the staff was wonderful about local suggestions for dinner and places that were not too far away. This was a bonus for us because we had been driving all day and did not want to go far. "

"First off, yes, the property is under renovation, but at this point it's only the second floor, and they only work during the day, so it didn't affect my visit. Although, when I went to check out I did have to share the elevator with boxes of flooring materials that for some reason had been loaded in and were blocking access to the buttons, but no one was in the elevator with the material... it was odd. Haha. I was placed on the third floor which had been fully renovated already except for the carpet in the hallway. The rooms are VERY VERY nice. Sure, this isn't a 5-star luxury property, but for an HIE, they have really done a superb job with the renovations that are true to the brand while being modern, clean, fresh, and comfortable for the guests. With proper maintenance and cleaning, this investment should keep the property a great destination for years to come! The staff is really the star of this property. Allie, who checked me in ... and out, is really an asset for this property and for IHG as a whole. She is extremely friendly, knowledgable, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a positive experience. I had one issue with my original room because of rowdy young girls next door. She apologized, changed my room, and offered me bonus points. My new room was very quiet and she made sure to ask when I checked out if my stay was pleasant and quiet, apologizing again for the noise with the other guests. She seemed to really care about her job and the guest's experience, and that's a great customer service ambassador! I had stayed at another IHG property in the area the night before, and while pleasant enough, switching to this property was definitely the right decision and it will be my first choice next time I'm in the area. My only recommendation would be reserved parking up front for Elite and Spire members, something other brands do offer, but other than that, I can't find a real critique and I cannot recommend this property enough! Be patient and understanding with them while they are finishing the construction and I think you can't go wrong staying here."
"I want to give a shout out to Gailya at this hotel. We arrived just about midnight during a cold spell where we drove through ice, rain, fog, clouds, you name it, we drove through it and we were just plain exhausted. Gailya greeted us, knew our names, checked us in super fast and had us on our way to our room with hot cocoa and warm cookies! If ever up in this area again I would absolutely stay here again! "
"Easy to find right off the main highway in Virginia. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean and modern. Continental breakfast was excellent with selections to satisfy everyone. Had beautiful outdoor pool and nicely done exercise room off the lobby. "

"Worst experience at a hotel ever. Front desk clerk was rude, didn't provide any details on breakfast, didn't thank us for being Hilton Honors members, etc. Room was clean and comfortable and had a number of sanitation practices in place as a result of COVID-19. The bedsheet had a brown stain on it, the shower dripped all night long and the sprinkler head in the bathroom was rusted. The housekeeping crew knocked on the door in the morning, completely ignoring the "Do Not Disturb" sign. When we got ready to leave, the 2nd floor hallway had a repulsive smell of vomit when we checked out. We wondered if it was the cleaning solution being used in the rooms that were being sanitized. Whatever it was, it would make me cancel my reservation and leave had it been when we checked in. We learned our lesson - you get what you pay for. $80 worth of a disappointing experience for a Hampton Inn."
"He took care of us well during our stay. We need more guys like this out there. Very attentive to our needs. Went above and beyond. He knows how to do his job well and it shows. If I was hiring for a team of professionals, I would get him on board."
"Clean, solid overnight stop while on the road. Front desk staff, Dwayne and Shansee are friendly and accommodating. Good Mexican restaurant across the street and also a few other choices. Would definitely stay again. "
