Avenida Playa Gaviotas # 202, Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico
"I loved staying at Hotel Playa Mazatlan for 6 days. The room was well appointed, quiet and had a good ocean view. There were amazing sunsets! The location was central. I felt very safe as a solo traveler. The hotel had numerous pools, and a lovely infinity hot tub. There were 4 main restaurants, a good buffet, a Mexican, a Brazilian and an Italian one. The staff were all helpful, friendly, willing to help, offer suggestions of what to see on my own or on tours. One concierge, Shane Bacon, went out of his way to explain a lot about the region and explained how to find all kinds of transport, by bus, taxi, on foot, and in pulmonias, which are quite fun and look like a large open air golf cart. He suggested seeing the open air market, the cathedral, the historic district, with its brightly colored restored buildings. Great shrimp at a restaurant there. He recommended walking up a hill to a lighthouse with great views. He arranged a fine whale watching tour, where we saw 4 humpbacks, including a baby, gradually head north. We saw islands with sea lions, and more with boobies, frigate birds. The next day, with the same guide,Cesar, 3 of us kayaked about a mile and a half, to Deer Island, where we hiked up a hill, with beautiful cacti and flowers then snorkeled, before kayaking back. I give this hotel very high rating, and would love to return!"
"We traveled with a group of 3 couples. When you check in they take your temperature and sanitize your suitcases and backpacks very clean. Check in was a breeze, the hotel rooms were beautiful, AC worked really good and they were very clean. Hotel Manager Shane Bacon answered all our questions and was able to book travel to and from the hotel. He gave us some really good advise on where to shop and where to go sight seeing. He was very professional and helped us tremendously throughout our 1 week stay. Hotel is literally in the middle of everything we can walk or take a "Pulmonias" (golf cart taxi) anywhere we wanted it was a great location. Hotel pools and hotel grounds were immaculate, plenty of space to roam around and very beautiful. A must do was the "Cenote' cave pool and the Jacuzzi above the bar pool great view. We did the all inclusive and all the restaurants and buffets were very good and clean. My favorite restaurant was Georgina's. Best shrimp Fettuccine hands down. All in all it was a great vacation we felt really safe and secure. I will definitely be back ."
"Hotel Playa is one of the most well-capacitated hotels in Mazatlan. It’s not just a room to stay in, but a place to make memories in. They have great pools and spectacular shows you can enjoy. I love the diversity of activities offered here and the kindness of all staff. They do dancing, food, shows, kids activities, all sorts of things! I 100% recommend everything but I really loved the shows!! While I read some of these reviews complaining about noise, it’s part of the experience! Mazatlan is a very happy place, think of it as Las Vegas of Mexico. It never sleeps! If you want a place to relax then go camping and enjoy nature, but Mazatlan is just overall amazing and you can have the best of both worlds: relax and party. It’s great for couples, or singles wanting to party, or families, or older pals wanting to relax, it’s got it all! I’ll definitely be back, can’t wait for the summer!!"
