The location is very good, right next to the grand place. However, the rooms are old and need to be updated. The sink in the bathroom and the woodwork had cracks. The corridors were dark and dingy. The lamps or coffee machine have to be disconnected to be able to charge one’s devices. There are no adapters or usb ports. The day we arrived, the bell boy was on holiday, so there was no one to help with the bags. The front office staff, other than the most junior of them, seemed totally disinterested. The room was hot in the night and the aircon panel did not work. When we told the front office staff that the air conditioning didn’t work adequately, they didn’t even acknowledge what we were saying, let alone offer any explanation or apology. The breakfast was fine, but the staff again showed very little interest in even asking if we wanted a cooked breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend.

Very good and decent hotel, friendly and accommodating staff. It was very good that the reception was open the entire night. We had to stay because our train got cancelled, so we were looking for a hotel past midnight. It was too warm to sleep. But then again, I was staying during a heatwave. I do not recommend airco (perhaps it was there but I couldn't find it). But I do recommend the hotel to green the surroundings and outside roofs and walls, because that can cool down the local temperature with 4 degrees.

This hotel is great, very spacious rooms and friendly staff. The red is certainly a theme in the hotel shared areas and all the rooms! I arrived late and info in the room said that the restaurant is open until 11pm, however it actually closed at 10.30pm. They have a good self service snack and drinks bar open 24 / 7 though. The breakfast is generous - delicious smoothes!

The location of the hotel is very good, on the edge of the cathedral, it is convenient to walk anywhere. Health is good. We were lucky, the underground garage has a location, just can stop. Parking in Brussels is very troublesome, which is very advantageous for people who drive. The reception staff is also very enthusiastic and answer all questions, which is also very good. recommend

Very close to the subway station, easy to find, go up the mountain The service staff is warm and the explanation is clear The room is newly renovated and everything is very new. I will also put my umbrella at the door when it rains.

This hotel is just opposite the train station. It's very convenient. It's a very good location. For this birthday meal, a chocolate birthday cake was prepared for him. Someone brought it to the room and sang birthday songs for him. This hotel is really good and good service

Location was good, room size is perfect for our small family. Love the services that the hotel provides, super fast and efficient, and fuss free. Hotel even provide lounge area, where hotel guests can go there for a small drink and some appetiser for free. I think every hotel should have such service provided, it is just super nice and welcoming back to the hotel. When we were there, it was raining and hotel staff was even offering us in house umbrella for us to use, and we returned it once we are back at the hotel. Room was a tab bit dark at some corners, but otherwise all is good. Nothing to complain about. Will definitely visit again when we are back in Brussels.

The hotel is nice, but the service is mediocre. When I fly early in the morning, I can't take the elevator, which leads to wandering around in the corridors for a long time, which is very difficult to encounter. Speechless.

We arrived on EuroStar in Brussels Midi and did not have a good impression of Brussels at first (note to self, next time take the metro or over ground train (operator IC) to Brussels Central which is literally five minutes walk down the slight hill to the Novotel hotel. We finally found the hotel literally 200 yards from the main square (Grote Markt). What a lovely welcome when we got to reception. The receptionists were just lovely, so friendly and welcoming. Embarrassingly their English was just so good. The restaurant employees were very welcoming too and they paid the appropriate attention when required, they too were great. The breakfast chef also came out periodically and topped food up which was good to see. Housekeeping was great and one morning the room service assistant had actually realised we had gone to breakfast and made our room up while we away at breakfast. Location - this hotel couldn't be better placed. Grand Square literally 200 yards away, Grand Central station five minutes walk (if that) up a slight hill. Summary - I would stay at the Novotel (off Grand Place) on a future visit without hesitation. A really well appointed and well placed hotel with really lovely friendly staff. Coming from the trade we appreciate the total effort the staff put in and thank them very much for making our stay so welcoming.

Hotel is in in a good location but personally I hated it. Close to the Grand Palace and Brussels Central Rail Station. I suppose I was expecting other attractions like the Royal Museum of Fine Arts to be closer but it is hard to tell on maps where exactly things are. A little bit too touristy for me. Not very calming for me. I wasn’t too pleased about hotel staff because I arrived at the hotel early and was told to wait to check in. I was fine by that but around noon guests were checking in but no one at the reception came over to where I was and asked if I wanted to check in. In a different review of a guest around the time I visited seemed to think that service was lacking and I had to agree. I was surprised though that a staff member remembered my name when I was returning to the hotel. It seemed like he was the only one paying attention and trying to be helpful. He also tried to help me with a mild issue about the air conditioning. So great job on his part but everyone was okay. Food was horrifying for breakfast. As an American going to Europe nothing ever tastes right but this was exceptionally awful. Flies were flying around hovering around like vultures. I don’t ever recall this happening at other hotels where I had breakfast. Definitely not worth the the 23 Euros I paid. Unfortunately I was at the hotel’s mercy regarding breakfast because Europeans have horrible working hours. In American if Starbucks, McDonalds, and other restaurants serving breakfast by 6 AM daily the restaurant owners would be considered stupid as heck. So nearby restaurants/cafes opening at 8 AM is not very nice but I suppose it’s an American thing. Not pleased about the furniture in the sitting area at the hotel. At a 4 star hotel I would expect the furniture to be well kept but the upholstery was ripped at places and I can see the cotton or cushions coming out. I don’t expect perfect but it felt like the furniture belong at a 2 star hotel. The hotel was clean enough and I got a bigger room then I expected. I would give the hotel 3.5 stars if I could because it was average. Definitely could be better but could be worse.

Before booking this hotel currently be advised that the lobby is under complete renovation and there is a temporary registration desk on the ground floor of the hotel. Additionally, they are installing new elevators, however the existing elevators are very old and one of them wouldn’t service the floor I was staying on. The rest of the hotel has been completely upgraded, with very nice rooms. The main issue was that Belgium was under a heat wave while I was visiting with temperatures in the high 80s. My air conditioner was blowing warm air and I asked three different times to have it fixed to no avail. I ended up sleeping in a very hot room with the windows opened and had to listen to very loud crowds which apparently congregate all night on the street below, so know that the “historic views”come at a price with loud noise. I live in Chicago so I am used to noise at night, but constant loud conversation and laughing one level below is very bothersome. The breakfast is being served in the executive lounge, so for Marriott elites just be forewarned that the breakfast is very crowded with all hotel guests being served in the lounge, however the quality of the breakfast was nice with very friendly staff. This hotel will be nice when they finish it — just be forewarned about the street noise and staff who will not fix the air conditioning, creating a very undesirable stay from a Marriott Platinum Elite guest.

Location is OK. It is 3-station away from the city center. I would prefer to stay in a hotel closer to city center next time. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Checkin is done very quickly and they let me check out at 2:00 pm. Rooms are clean. The only thing I'm not happy with is that the water pressure of the shower is too low. Breakfast is OK. Not a lot of choices but taste good. Overall a pleasant stay.

We moved from the US to Belgium and stayed here for nearly a month while we house hunted. The two bedroom apartment was more spacious than our last condo in DC! Great set up with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, big living room, one shower/bath and two separate toilet rooms. Very clean and much better than i anticipated based on some of the reviews here. Room service menu needs to be expanded for sure. Very few options. We used the amenities at the Renaissance next door - pool, restaurant. Breakfast was not included in our rate but we ate there for a fee, I think it was 25 EUR which wasn’t really worth it… it was good, but I was fine just eating in our room with the full kitchen! We also stayed at the Renaissance a few nights and while it was a little nicer, we liked the spaciousness of the apartments better and returned. You don’t get as much customer service for the apartments as you do when staying in the Renaissance. We had a nice big balcony overlooking the trees that we really enjoyed. Great long term stay, but if you’re looking for something upscale, go to the Dominican - we also stayed there :)

It started out ok - but soon we found out a lot of things were missing from the room. Eventually it was fixed - and as compensation we got free breakfast. So far, so good. At checkout I was asked if I would like the invoice as a mail. (The room was pre-paid but not the parking). I agreed. Some hours later I opened the email and found out I was billed for 'accommodation' - a way higher amount than for the parking. Also the address was totally wrong. I was a US-address - I live in Denmark. I instantly wrote back - but didn't get any reply for several days. I phoned - and got yet another email-address that I should use. That I did - and got a reply saying that it was about to be discontinued - so I had to write to another email. And here it turns crazy: It was exactly the same as the first one. BUT - I resent it. And - again - no reply for several days. Then I had had enough. I have tried to call several times but the phone is just being picked up - and instantly disconnected. So here I am - some Euros poorer. And what is REALLY crazy: During all this I have received THREE emails encouraging me to rate my stay. OK - here it is ...
