Since all the attractions were closed the day before yesterday, I didn't see the former residence of Marx, who had the highest expectations for the trip to Germany. I was not reconciled and returned! The hotel’s breakfast is good and rich, as well as instant noodles. When checking in, the front desk asked the hotel to email the reservation form received when booking the hotel, and emphasized the importance. This 20-day trip to Germany is the only one that needs to send a reservation form to the hotel. Please pay attention to check-in

In time for Christmas, all the attractions, shopping malls, supermarkets and restaurants are basically closed. The notice posted on the attractions is 3 days off on 24, 25, and 26. I only looked at the cathedral. When I checked in, I was told that there was no dinner in the evening. I was so old. I finally found a pizza fast food restaurant opened by a Turk who was still open. I barely filled my stomach.

My wife and I stayed one night while passing through Trier. Everything is walking distance from the hotel and the city has a fabulous history that's worth discovering. We were very pleased with our room, which although compact had everything you need and the airco was good. The luxurious rain-shower in the bathroom was a real treat. Breakfast was also up to German standards (good strong coffee!). Only drawback was that our particular room couldn't be reached by lift (other rooms can). On the other hand, the lady at reception carried one of our bags up herself, which was nice of her. In addition, when we discovered upon our return home that we had left a perfume bottle in our room, the hotel was kind enough to send the expensive item to us by post. What a service!

We had suite 101 which overlooked the pedestrian street in front of the hotel. Property has been immaculately renovated, it is historic and modern at the same time. Bedroom and seating area were both spacious and very nicely appointed with elegant furniture, bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was large with modern high quality fixtures. Was beyond expectations for a historic property in a city center location. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was excellent, and street noise was minimal due to modern windows that fit perfectly with the hotel character. After this stay I am looking forward to staying at other Romantik Hotel properties. Bravo!

Hotel Porta Nigra has a great location very close to the famous Roman gate and the old city. Unfortunately, if you book on Expedia you are told that the hotel has parking, but not that you have to book it separately. So we arrived and were told there was no hotel parking available and that we would have to pay Euro 15 per night to use the public parking at the Mercure nearby. I don't blame the hotel, but this should have been clear on the Expedia site. Be prepared and contact the hotel in advance if you want to use their parking facilities. We had a spacious family apartment on the ground floor - large and spacious with a kitchenette and dining table, fridge. Great. Unfortunately the hotel Wifi only extends one metre inside the room, so you can only access it from the bathroom or from the coat cupboard. This is rather annoying as you can imagine Breakfast was fine but the coffee maker used powdered milk rather than fresh so you are better off avoidingh the cappuccino and latte options from the machine. Housekeeping service was minimal. Front desk staff are friendly.

I decided to visit Trier for a day, and I wasn’t expecting such a majestic entry to the city. The Porta Nigra (Latin for black gate) is a large Roman city gate in Trier, Germany. It is today the largest Roman city gate north of the Alps, and is one of Trier’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It’s absolutely beautiful!

The parking lot that comes with it has very few parking spaces, and the front desk staff suggested that we park in the nearby parking lot for a fee of 2 euros. There was a bed that could be opened on the wall behind the sofa. We booked two beds when we booked, but the hotel forgot to put the bed in place. The staff was asked to operate and the staff apologized. Breakfast is quite rich. Luggage can be stored at the front desk. At the time of check-out, the staff must provide us with an English version of the proof of payment, but Ctrip is only Chinese, and the Ctrip website is replaced with the Chinese language. I have been working on this for a long time! Isn't the entire process Ctrip not agreed with the hotel? A lot of wasted time.

FOr an IBIS hotel this is really fantastic. They offer a parking space for the car, the rooms are spacious modern and stylish and the breakfast is really good and all in all it is an inexpensive and centrally located good hotel

Small hotels in small towns, the whole town is within an hour’s walk, so even if the hotel is slightly remote (on the other side of the river), it does not affect too much. The heating in the room is relatively good, and the attitude of the waiter is the same as the arrogant German. Anyway, if the positioning is a budget hotel, the requirements are not particularly high, not bad.

The Holiday Inn Express in Trier is a newer hotel in a city without a lot of hotels. It's an easy walk (about 15 minutes) from the historic city center with most of the tourist attractions. If I had to guess I would say the hotel has been open for about a year. There is still a fresh paint smell. Some of the walls by the front desk are also missing paint as if construction or decorating isn't done yet. There's a lot to like about the hotel, including a full bar, fast and free wifi, a good TV, and huge walk-in showers. However, there are some big issues. The hotel advertises free parking. While parking is free, there are NOT enough spaces for all guests. I was told to park in a muddy, dirty field between the parking lot and main road. I had to make an illegal turn from the road, drive over the sidewalk and risk damage to my car and tires. Why was this hotel allowed to build a parking lot that did not have one space for every room? The breakfast is typical by German continental breakfast standards. However, Holiday Inn Express advertises a hot breakfast. There were no hot eggs or anything that adhered to the hot breakfast standard. There is no gym. I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express anywhere without a gym, even a small gym. Why does a newly built not have a gym? Guest rooms are very, very small with nothing but a closet, small table and shelve. I had a king-sized room. It would be very crowded if there were two people in the room. My room did not feature the usual Holiday Inn Express amenities. No lotion, no bar of soap, no shampoo, no conditioner and no body wash. Instead, there was one dispenser of Dove soap and one dispenser of Dove shampoo-conditioner. That's it. That is not consistent with my experience at Holiday Inn Express hotels everywhere else. Also, there was no clock, no refrigerator and no coffeemaker, despite coffeemakers being advertised. I did get a kettle with tea and instant coffee. My IHG Spire status recognition at check-in consisted of getting a voucher for a free drink. When I redeemed the voucher at the full bar I was told it didn't cover the cost of a glass of wine. What's the point of the voucher? The bar has several regional wines, but the bartender did not speak English beyond basic words. It was difficult to confirm what wines were dry. Staff were few and far between. On a Saturday night when the hotel seemed 100% sold-out, there was only one front desk employee and one bartender. When issue arose the front desk employee had to leave and go to guest rooms, forcing the bartender who didn't speak fluent English to work both the bar and the front desk. This resulted in wait times of 10 minutes for a drink. After a week of staying in local German hotels I was really looking forward to the consistent chain experience of a Holiday Inn Express. Next time I'm in Trier, I will book the Mercure instead.

The wife and i stayed here for 2 nights. The desk staff grade A+ super friendly and helpful. Room was super clean. Free WIFI ... strong signal. Free parking (unusual in Germany). Free Breakfast..VERY unusual in Germany. In the evening we went to the lounge downstairs, sat in comfortable lounge chairs around the TV and were waited on but very friendly staff. These guys know what they're doing. The fruhstuck (breakfast) was pretty darn good for being free. i have to mention Jessica...only name i remember of the super friendly staff but the lady beside her and the other desk dude.....were over the top. They helped us get the best tour for the city and pointed to a good gasthaus for food. A+ all the way. will come here again if we ever re-visit.

Perfect locarion, very close to the city center and at the same time far away from the city noise. Very clean and cosy rooms, delicious breakfast and nice atmosphere. It feels really like a home. If I have a chance to go again to Trier, I would definitely book this hotel again.

The style of the hotel is very elegant. The breakfast is not many but the quality is high. The rooms are very design and clean. The hotel can be reassured to stay. It is about ten minutes' walk from the old town.
