"I have been to Mitton Hall a few times now. I have not stayed there but been for meals. My sister lives in Windsor and had come up for a visit. We wanted to show her we have posh up north! We went as a family for Sunday lunch and it was fabulous. But that is not why I’m writing this review. I have also been to with some people I support who have a learning disability. We have been a few times now and I have been so impressed by the staff who have served us. One of the ladies needs a soft diet. We have explained this when booking and the chefs have done her a special meal which has looked amazing and made her feel like she is not missing out. The ladies have been made to feel really special. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food is amazing and not expensive for the beautiful meal you are served. I can’t think of a better place to have a lovely meal. Thank you so much to the amazing staff who make every visit very special. x"
"We had received several emails to discuss our anticipated check in arrival time which became clear when we arrived as the hotel was hosting a Wedding Fare, no issue for us I expressed and we could arrive as planned and make use of the hotel bar areas. Reception seemed more than happy for these arrangements promising a bottle of Prosecco for our troubles. We decided on the Tappas for lunch when we arrived and the portion sizes or quality could not be faulted, service was a little delayed but obviously the Wedding Fare was taking up much of the staff time so we just enjoyed the open fire and many comings and goings. So we checked in late as agreed and had the Ribble Suite, good spacious room with all the usual amenities, separate large bathroom which is certainly in need of more heating at this time of the year other than the heated towel rail and we normally keep our rooms cool but this was rather too cool. We were eating out that night so only had the breakfast, usual fare of self service for juices / cereals etc and cooked breakfast to order and no real issues with food or service. The hotel looks imposing when driving in but I cant say that the whole ambience internally matched up and with regard to the promised Proseco.......... hmmm !"
"This majestic old hall has become a popular wedding and function venue, and seems to have retained its integrity. The food is pretty good for the numbers catered for, and the service excellent. The drinks are a bit pricey, but they have a well stocked bar. Great rooms, if a bit chilly, having said that when the heating was on it was warm enough. Water pressure is rubbish though, I don’t think it would rinse long hair! A minor downside to staying in an atmospheric old mansion!"

"We have stayed in Waddington numerous times but this was the first time at the Higher Buck. The room was great, very clean and comfy and larger than most hotel rooms. The food and service is second to none, big thanks to Andrew who was so friendly, professional and welcoming. Deffinately will return."
"We have just returned from a 4 night break in Waddington and visited this pub on a few occasions. The food was exceptional and did not disappoint. The waiters and bar staff were also very friendly and professional. We will definitely be back when we return to this lovely village. "

"My wife and I visited on Thursday evening and were certainly impressed. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming bar area with a warm, roaring fire. The drink selection was excellent, with an interesting gin menu and local ales on offer. We chose the house red to enjoy with our meal – a delicious Malbec. The meal itself was a real treat. I started with the hot smoked salmon whilst my wife enjoyed the marinated heritage tomato and goats cheese salad, followed by the venison from the specials board for both of us. We then shared the cheese board to finish. It was all wonderfully presented and very impressive for the price. Throughout the evening the staff were great; attentive, professional and very personable – they really brought the dining room to life. The restaurant was fresh, modern and very well spaced with well-placed screens so as to be COVID-safe. We’ll look forward to returning with the rest of the family."
"From entering reception we were made to feel welcome, being shown to our room. The room was spacious & Very comfortable. Complimentary bottles of water & a nice selection of drinks including horlicks & hot chocolate with biscuits as well. It makes a change having only 2 of everything. We didn't have dinner at the hotel as we had booked at the Michelin Star Northcote restaurant which is very close by. The English breakfast is ample with excellent service. All staff were friendly, helpful & efficient. We were only staying one night, but we will definitely be staying again. Great location between Clitheroe & Blackburn in the heart of the ribble Valley. Not far from Whalley, forest of Bowland, Samlsbury Hall, Clitheroe castle & Pendle Hill to name few."
"I booked last minute for 4 nights.arrived and eat in the Bar. food, real ale and open fire all was cared for by the barman a real gent. I had planned the next evenings meal at the same time as ordering that night, A real north pie. Rooms quiet and comfortable and well aired which for me is a must. breakfast nothing to much trouble and freshly cooked poached eggs are a must. "

"Went for an early evening meal and the restaurant was pleasantly full with a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff that warned us there would be a 40 minute delay to get served and from previous experiences at lunchtimes things can be a bit slow . If you are out for a relaxing meal then factor in if you don't like eating late ,as it was we were happy to chat and have a drink . Tried the unusual beetroot nibbles for a starter which was a good shout. I followed this with the venison which was excellent and finished on the rice brulee. The whole group enjoyed their meals so a successful evening."
"A one night stay for work purposes in Blackburn. The Millstone could not have tried harder to create a welcoming ambience with a contemporary feel in the rooms and in the restaurant. There is everything you would want and more in the bedrooms and the restaurant offers a wide ranging and reasonably priced menu. This hotel has really put high quality customer service at the forefront."
"Warm hospitality in a lovely cosy setting. Roaring fires, contemporary yet cosy decor, well stocked bar and wine list. Elegant spacious rooms each with their own character feel. Well laid out restaurant with great quality food and a good menu choice. "

"I booked this place for a small surprise gathering for my sister's 50th! Must say was pleasantly surprised with the venue and the afternoon tea was fantastic. We had an amazing time & had a private room too. The staff were friendly and polite and very relaxed. Lovely views of the golf course from the hotel. I would highly recommend Shaw Hill for a function, nice place for photographs too! Thank you, will be back soon!"
"Return visit and stayed one night as a couple. A lovely spacious room on the top floor with great views overlooking the golf course. Staff are very welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Evening dinner and breakfast were excellent. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend."
"Think of the positives, errrrr check in didnt take long and there is no fear of losing the key to the rooms as the key ring is about 3 foot long! Anyway back to reality, got to the room and you notice straight away it is in need of a massive injection of TLC. It is really not the best at all which is a shame because it could be really nice but it would come at a cost! The bed was really uncomfortable and that is not just pot luck, I had another 2 colleagues staying at the hotel who said exactly the same. It is certainly not my cup of tea! You can just tell as soon as you walk in is it run down, the whole place has a musky smell. The people who work there are nice and do give a good customer experience but that is not enough for me to reccomend it. It was my first visit and unfortunately will be my last. Sorry Shaw hill. But it does need more than a lick of paint! What a shame"

"My Sisters and I meet regularly for Afternoon Tea and have visited numerous venues over the years, including Foxfields. We had Afternoon in The Artisan Restaurant They have completely changed their approach to AT including gluten free ,which can be more miss than hit in the majority of venues. My sister always feels as if she is missing out , as she is gluten free, which she thought was amazing including the hot scone , rice pudding, and sticky toffee pudding and really lovely sandwiches and savouries. We also noted a vegan Afternoon Tea and also one suitable for children , which we saw at the next table ( looked gorgeous) For the rest of us (3) we had a the Afternoon Tea with fizz. When it arrived it looked delicious and tasted every bit as good. Warm crumbly scones, gorgeous little cakes, and some really lovely ‘different ‘ additions . Jack fruit spring roll ! I really didn’t fancy this but it was delicious. We completely forgot to take pictures , until we were finished. We also ordered from their extensive cocktail / mocktail menu. 3 water melon mocktails and one champagne cocktail. The service was really first class, Lots of interaction with both ladies who looked after us. The younger waitress was really friendly and efficient and The other lady assumed she was a Manager was clearly in control of this busy restaurant ( majority having Afternoon Tea- we visited on Saturday at 12pm ) We were not hurried or rushed and all of the items we couldn’t eat were packed up for us to take home. Thank you to The Chefs who prepared this yummy feast. I would highly recommend Foxfields and their new approach to Afternoon Tea. 5 out of 5 . We will definitely be back !"
"Booked a pet friendly room, which we were pleased with as it had a bedroom, bathroom and lounge with patio doors with access to outside to excercise our pet. Cost was £135 for the night including breakfast. The bed was comfortable. Energy saving lights in the bedroom over the dressing table area were too dim and the light over the mirror in the bathroom was not working. The fan in the toilet was also not working. A little dated, other than that acceptable but not a wow. Breakfast was in our opinion a little disorganised. The full english breakfast was buffet style. We were seated and shown the menu. We decided to have the full english and ordered tea for two expecting a pot of tea, but the waiter appeared with a jug of tea from which he poured us a cup each of what turned out to be lukewarm. We helped ourselves to the full english buffet which did look appetising, plates were warm and then we returned to our table, however toast was also help yourself, by the time I had used the toasting machine twice in order to get a slice that wasn't burnt, my tea was cold and also my breakfast. A waitress replaced our tea with two pots of tea thankfully. I recommend that guests choose a cooked to order breakfast in order to ensure that the food is freshly cooked and hot, and do your toast first and check that the settings havent been turned up to max by previous diners. Another small observation was that we picked up a Sunday paper from the restaurant, and asked at the reception if we could pay for it and was told that they were for the diners use and not for sale so we returned it to the dining room. As breakfast service was at an end we thought it was a bit unfriendly considering the people who left behind us had taken a paper and not offered to pay for it. Considering the price we felt the breakfast experience let it down along with the few items already mentioned. Not sure if we would return."
"Stayed at Foxfields for short break with 4 friends. Arrived lunch time, staff very friendly & efficient. Surprised how large & lovely the rooms were, picturesque views. Very comfortable with separate living area. We enjoyed a pleasant walk into nearby Whalley, which is a large, pretty village. In the evening we had an absolutely superb meal in Artisan, the hotel’s restaurant. The food was amazing & the service first class. We will definitely return to Foxfields & could not fault it whatsoever. Did not use the pool so cannot comment on this."

"Where do i begin? Astley Bank recently held our Wedding and what a fantastic day we had. We had family travel from across the country, and the team at Astley Bank made them feel welcome from arrival. Nothing was ever any trouble, and all of our guests have said how amazing the venue looked, and was. The team are a huge credit to the venue, and we couldn't have asked for more. The food was 10/10, the organisation was amazing, it was clean and fresh, and nobody could have done anymore for us. It was a perfect day and we are so so grateful that we had such a great team to share it with. 100% recommend Astley Bank. We can't wait to share our anniversary with the team who made our day so special."
"Astley Bank Hotel is local to me and the standard of service and food never fails...It is a real treat to come here for Sunday lunch with the family...The set 3 course menu changes regularly and there are always new dishes to try along with the old faithfuls. The roast beef is always delicious. Efficient service is provided with a genuine edge and you are always made to feel special. The setting is perfect and we caught the tail end the beautiful Christmas decor. Splendid service with old fashioned values...Special mention to Sue and her waiting on team. Sue is a credit to you...Long may your service last...Thank you ."
"Stayed last night 24/10/20. Cannot praise the staff highly enough. The young lady on reception ( Chorlton) was so helpful when we had a small problem with our room. Both she and the lady who brought us breakfast,Margaret, were so friendly and accommodating. The hotel and the room itself were really pleasant and we would stay again without question. We went to Darwin library theatre, to see Gordon Haskell perform and were surprised to find that a taxi from the hotel to the theatre cost £2.50. A damn sight easier than finding a parking place in the dark in a strange town. Try it!"

"The location is very good! excellent service! Bolton Center! Vintage hotel! Can only meet basic living! But the health situation is very poor? There is toilet paper inside the kettle that boils water! But you don't have a better choice in Burton! Because other hotels are estimated to be worse!"
