"While driving 2,200 miles from Flagstaff to DC, the male half of IllyCoffeeDrinkers and one of our kids pulled off I-40 and spent a December Sunday night here. The other reviews seem to go two ways for this hotel, pretty nice for a pet friendly hotel or poorly maintained. For our 30th hotel review, on the positive side we found this La Quinta to have a friendly staff, including the very outgoing breakfast host, well-lit parking, and an affordable and comfortable clean double queen bed room with an effective heater, three pillows per bed, numerous outlets by the beds and plenty of hot water in the morning. The breakfast bar was decent but not over the top; it offered eggs, sausages, waffles, pancakes, biscuits, apples, bananas, bagels, bread, muffins, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, apple juice and mild coffee. On the negative side, the room came with only one coffee and decaf coffee packet each and had a very simple/dull contemporary décor with no art or mirrors on any walls (good or bad) (photo attached). The main downside of the room was the overall poor craftsmanship in its construction. For example, the bathroom door knob was poorly installed and had an open gap between the bathroom and the bedroom, the caulk in the shower looked like it was applied by a two-year-old, and an electrical outlet had paint on it and was poorly fitted to the wall (two photos attached). Our bottom line, we like to stay in nicer rooms that are well constructed and have pleasant decor, this La Quinta did not fill the bill for us. Unless they carry out a skilled remodeling, we would not stay here again. "This was an overnight stay with my dog while passing through the area. The hotel was clean (although the cleaning product they use permeates the entire building and is not a pleasant smell), staff were efficient, and breakfast was basic but fresh. A semi truck sat running in front of the hotel for several hours and could be heard inside. Thankfully the truck left before bedtime. There is an Outback Steakhouse across the parking lot and very convenient with curbside pick-up. Cookies and beverages at front desk upon check-in are always a nice touch."
"Went here on a spur-of-the-moment decision. The property was easy to find and in a great location next to shops and restaurants. Jordan was at the front desk and was very professional and helpful when we checked in. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was scaled back significantly because of covid-19. The only issue we had was the TV remote. Jordan tried to help but was not successful. The outside was very well illuminated. They were pet friendly and only charged $10 to have our little dachshund with us."
