Top 10 Goldener Pflug Hotels

We didn’t really like the hotel’s location and layout. Not really near the village center and in the middle of a clearing, so it could get really hot walking midday before you reach the forest cover. We stayed in the Kohlwald house which is across the street (a surprisingly busy street!) from the main building. So we and other guests had to cross it in our robes going to the pool area. The main building itself was like a maze. Having said that, everything else was great especially the food and the service. Shout out to the staff who waited for us during dinner on 30 July and who unfortunately had to leave before dinner service was done because his shift was up. You were awesome! And of course to our countryman in the staff during breakfast (Allan) you were great too!

The Pflugwirt has often been our stopover on hikes in the Renchtal or on the Ortenau Wine Trail. The hotel is in a quiet location in Haslach (without nightly church bells). Rooms and bathrooms are modern and friendly. The bed quality is excellent. The breakfast room is also bright and attractively furnished. The breakfast buffet was very good. Egg dishes can also be prepared on request. Self-service at the professional coffee machine (from espresso to latte macchiato) is particularly pleasant. Friendly, nice staff from reception to restaurant, breakfast to check-out. And all this despite difficult times. Keep it up!!!

They still exist. Those family run, top quality, with love to detail, proud of their work places. Engel in Sasbachwalden is one of those places. It is my 2nd time here. Despite being here for business, I enjoyed the local Black Forest atmosphere. Sasbachwalden and the Hotel Engel are perfectly located at the “entrance” to the amazing Black Forest. I guess the hotel has around 20 rooms, a fab restaurant and a breakfast that is so far ahead in quality of what you get in those big hotel boxes. The owner is the chef, was checking us in and suggested to stay for dinner. What a great choice. Top quality, nice wines and amazing service. The rooms are nice, some have balcony’s and they are designed with the traveler in mind. Wish I could give 10 points, Engel would deserve it. I will be back next week, for staying and entertaining customers. Already looking forward to it.

I stayed in this hotel for several days because of some things. The cherry blossom trees at the entrance were beautiful, and the breakfast remained the same. The town is really quiet. There is a launderette about 3 kilometers away.
