Reviews From Real Travelers
Stayed at the stock exchange for 1 night over the weekend, and had an absolutely fantastic stay! The hotel itself is beautiful, with the history of the hotel maintained in the restoration. The quality of the rooms, and general furnishing throughout the hotel are all very tasteful and of night quality. All of the staff we interacted with were also fantastic and couldn’t help enough We dined at the bull and bear for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed drinks at sterling which were both excellent, and highly recommended. The area where this hotel really excels are the little touches. These little elements such as Champagne and cake on arrival, check in conducted in the comfortable lounge, water provided on departure, umbrellas and shoe horns in the room are some great touches that really set this hotel above others in Manchester. The only element that I was surprised the hotel did not provide was a turn down service. Highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

We have wanted to stay here and eat at The Bull and Bear since it opened. It didn't disappoint. From arrival to departure, the staff are smiley, polite & can't do enough for you. Jimmy on concierge is attentive, a great guy. The bar downstairs although run by an external company very welcoming, Dinner/Breakfast again the food was out of this world. Service first class. Our room was big & clean yet cosy. We will definitely return soon.

We only stayed for one night me and my partner, we arrived late and wanted to go out to eat. Great location, walking distance for everything you need from bars to restaurants from Brazilian to Thai food or British pub food. We pushed our luck being late and the man on reception was brilliant and his service was fantastic and recommended some lovely places. After a long day our room had everything we needed, walk in shower, robes, super king bed and room service. We skipped breakfast and booked the pool for 9am which is included and was just perfect, the reason for our stay was to do the tour of old Trafford and the hotel certainly made our trip more worth while.

The hotel is in an amazing location to access bars/restaurants! Breakfast was gorgeous, would recommend ordering the French toast!! Hotel staff are lovely and polite, made us feel welcome and assisted. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed! we booked in to use the spa facilities before arrival, however it was quite busy so would be good if they potentially capped the time and number of guests in at a time? Otherwise would still recommend!

The style of the room is retro, pretty good, the toiletries are great, and there is a refrigerator. But the top-level swimming pool is very small, only two or three meters long. No one really goes swimming. If you live in the pool, the price is slightly higher. There is also a sauna on the top floor, which makes it very comfortable to steam~

The hotel is convenient to kingstreet, eating and shopping are convenient, the 6th floor lounge is very good, very beautiful, 7th floor small hot spring, warm and delicate. Because Manchester University graduated to take a wedding dress, the front desk of the hotel deliberately opened a roof to take photos on it.

From start to finish, our stay was fabulous! We visited for my husbands birthday and the staff really made us feel special! The concierge were great and looked after my car and luggage for us and offered us water bottles for the way home. Reception brought us cocktails on arrival which was a lovely touch! When we first arrived to our room, there was a very nice treat plate saying ‘happy birthday!’ which was a lovely gesture. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy and spacious. Breakfast was absolutely delightful and the thought that has gone into the theme of the hotel is amazing! Even my toast (which was freshly baked bread!) came in a little ‘money bag’. I think my only ‘issue’.. and I use that term extremely loosely!!.. was the price tags on ornaments and dressing gowns etc… it felt a little gauche for a 5* hotel. Although I completely understand their reasoning behind it because they are fantastic ornaments.. it did make us panic a little and check everything was in the room before we could relax because we didn’t want to be charged for things! The price list in the ‘Gotham bugle’ was probably enough. It also confused us a little as to what was complimentary because the only thing stated as complimentary was water. Overall, we will definitely stay there again! Thank you for an amazing experience.

My wife and myself stayed for 1 night on the 01/10/2022 for my wifes birthday and our 23 wedding anniversary. I have wanted to take my wife here for a number of years but due to covid and then a family event we have had to cancel on 2 occasions. I am glad to say the wait was worth it. The room exceeded my expections and my wife was impressed with the high level of thought and detail in our room. But what was most impressive to us was the service performed by your excellent team and we would like to take this opportunity to thank your whole team both front of house and behind the scenes for a perfect short weekend break. Special thanks needs to go to Maurice he gave us the most wonderful experience during our afternoon tea thank you so much. My wife and i love to travel and experience new things and new places and it is extremely rare for us to go back somewhere we have been before! We both agree we will be coming back to Hotel Gotham

We loved this hotel. I stayed with my daughter while visiting the university. It’s beautifully done, from the reception, bars and rooms. The staff were great too. A lovely welcome at reception, super waiting staff and especially the valet parking guys who were efficient and really charming. We will definitely stay again and I’m also looking forward to visiting some of their other establishments.
- Guest User
Every single member of the Dakota team is exemplary at what they do and they are not only consummate professionals but they all seem to enjoy doing it too. From the concierge greeting, friendly efficient check in and super helpful bar team to the attentive restaurant team a wonderful experience is delivered leaving you feeling any stay is just way too short.

Rooms are clean and tidy. Lovely comfy bed but pillows need replacing as falling apart There was no hairdryer in our room but this was quickly rectified once we asked for one, We had a lovely chilled stay in our room but would not recommend the in house restaurant. I have left a separate review of that..👎 Reception and cleaning staff who we met around the hotel were super friendly. We were on floor 5 and it was so peaceful. If I hadn’t heard a shower (very quiet) next door I would have thought we were the only ones on that floor. Hotel is just a short walk from everywhere so in a good position… Only criticism is the hotel is so hot and I mean hot. You melt at reception when you check in. Also we couldn’t get the air con to work in our room so it was. Constantly 19 degrees

Upon checking out, we mentioned how our room was tired and lacked cleanliness. I wasn’t prepared for the lady at reception to smile and acknowledge that “they know”. There wasn’t an apology. It seems poor practice to sell rooms when they knowingly have issues. - Marks on pillowcases. - Hole in the duvet cover, leaving a corner of the duvet to poke out. - Dirty water glasses. - Smears across bedroom mirror. - Carpet is marked in many places (you wouldn’t want to walk barefoot). - The toilet seat is only anchored to one side (so it moves constantly). - Enclosed shower leaks into the bathroom. - Shaver plug charged toothbrush intermittently. - Not sure if the extractor worked; as the bathroom mirrors took a long time to clear after showering. - The second keycard didn’t work. - Aircon felt non-existent but was still noisy. - No net or privacy filters on windows, so you either had to draw the blackout curtains completely or be seen by the adjacent hotel’s occupants. Room flaws: - The rainfall shower was terrific, but the small cubical made it impossible to move away from the water to apply soap/shampoo. - The bedside light switches were too far away to reach from the bed. - Windows looked double sealed, but you could still hear a local bar and their customers at 4 am from the third floor. - Breakfast: - A little chaotic! Staff tried their best, but they seemed to struggle with replacing food. - Cooked breakfast buffet was boiled to an inch of its life, no flavour in anything. The pros: - very good size bathroom, with separate shower and bath. Modern looking. - a good central location. - local parking discount (25%) 302 Saturday 25th Sep
