Pros: - Brilliant service on arrival. - Free room upgrade - excellent room- very clean! - IHG members prize of a free glass of Prosecco - Free treats for the room - Lovely grounds for a nature walk, with deer roaming the site - Breakfast and dinner at the Tudor restaurant was impeccable. Fantastic service and delicious food. Cons: - The swimming pool and jacuzzi are too cold. - The sauna and steam room are quite small and very basic. -The reception of the pool/spa is untidy and cluttered and the service is poor in this area which is unlike the rest of the hotel. - We messaged asking for room service (fresh milk and some ice) and sadly this did not arrive. Overall: would recommend if your priority is the hotel, food and grounds but it is not for you f if you are looking for a pool/spa visit.

I did not expect such an amazing weekend away at the Voco Lythe Hill Hotel! From the day we checked in to the day we checked out, the service has been amazing. The room and facilities are so clean and they had everything you need. The breakfast was delicious and had different options especially for vegans! The view outside was breath-taking and we managed to see a deer running through the grass to the forest. I would definitely stay here again!! Thank you so much for having us!

Reviews From Real Travelers
Just returned from a Countryside Getaway-deal, booked directly with the hotel. I booked the wrong date to start with and only realised the day before we were going! Phoned them and it got changed immediately without any issues or additional payment. When we arrived there was no problem checking in. However, as with some of the reviews, we also found the directions to our room were slightly vague. We got lost and seemed to go to the wrong area first, although eventually found it by looking at the sign (which are only clear if you know you’re in that wing!). On entering the room, it was extremely hot, and no air conditioning. There are windows, which would be good if you could open them wide enough to allow for more ventilation. However, something better than nothing. I noticed a fan in the room so assumed the heat had been mentioned previously. The bed was massive and very comfortable, although later found out, this too was very warm, with hot pillows and heavy bedspread. I said to my husband I wouldn’t like to be here in summer and for a bloke who’s always cold he actually agreed! The prices in the sports bar for drinks was ok. We had had a drink in the pub down the end of the track (Deer Inn) before checking in and the price for the identical drinks was the same there as in the sports bar at the hotel so not sure about the comments in other reviews about this. However, we live in South so are used to paying £6-£7 pint. Didn’t eat in the sports car but again prices not overly inflated. We had not booked the restaurant, thinking it was midweek so should be OK. However, at about 7:40pm when we got there, the manager said he could squeeze us in in half an hour, which I thought was very accommodating. We just went into sports bar for a drink. It was starting to get a bit rowdy in there, but nothing like a Wetherspoons rowdiness!!! Returned to the restaurant and was shown to our table. Waitress was very attentive and helpful and took our order for mains (we chose the 2 course option for £29.95 pp). I had the pan fried lamb. Husband had chicken supreme. Both agreed it was the best meal we had had in a very long time. Meat just melted in your mouth. We said we could have eaten it again, it was do delicious. We then both had the lemon tart for dessert. I have to say, not as delicious or mouth watering and certainly not as much attention given to presentation for the desserts. Clearly been sat plated in fridge for a bit and just a small slice on a rather large plate. When I saw the other desserts coming out for other tables they all seemed the same. Shame about this as but didn’t let it spoil the meal. We left there and went back to sports bar, which was less rowdy by this point. Breakfast was buffet style and we arrived about 9am and it is served until 10am. Only crusts left for toast, although I did not ask anyone so these may have been replenished if I had. All food was hot and fresh. Scrambled egg

From the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated so well. We were here for a Captains go,f trip and the facilities and quality were fantastic. Staff were very friendly and efficient at the front desk. The golf course is a great test and in wonderful condition. With quick greens and challenging holes. The starter was a credit to the complex. Food was very good and Otis’s coffee shop and staff excellent to. Sports bar is very well payed out although the beer can be a little expensive. All in all a great place to visit and was excellent value for money. Swimming pool and gym top class. Will definitely return with the family.

We stopped in here just for drinks and sat outside on the sunshine opposite the pond. The service at the bar was prompt, friendly and efficient. We spent about two hours just relaxing on the comfy seats looking at the wildlife and just chatting. We had a look at the amazing full-size metal horses which are pulling an open topped metal wagon which has numerous sacks stacked on the back. Anyway, it is really brilliant here and the whole location is mesmerising. Certainly, worth a visit. We have actually stayed here in the past and our memories of those visits were excellent. Plenty of hotel parking for guests behind the spa area.

We stayed for one night and had a great stay. Hotel very nice and tastefully decorated. All staff we met were friendly and knowledgeable. We had Room 1 which was big and had everything we needed. Quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Ate in the Waterfront restaurant on Friday night. Food lovely. Very quiet but service efficient without being rushed. Waiters very friendly. Breakfast next day was usual buffet style, but everything fresh and hot and plenty of it.

Lunch was beautifully cooked. The choice of food on the menu was good. The lady taking our orders was attentive, especially to my elderly mother. She was friendly and charming, without being a constant presence. I will definitely be returning and totally recommend this lovely place.

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband, we'd 'upgraded' a Red Letter Day yurt. Wish we hadn't! We chose this hotel based on location as we both enjoy walking, and, in that respect, this hotel was perfectly placed, literally across the road from The National Trust Devil's Punch Bowl. The hotel, however, was way below par. We were in Room 103, ground floor. The walls were tea stained around the kettle, broken drawers, windows wouldn't close, broken bath panel, shelf missing from bathroom ... I could go on, but I think you get the picture! I've stayed in country hotels before and loved them but, if they're going for the shabby chic look, they forgot the chic. The rooms are in serious need of a refurb! The guy on reception was great though, very welcoming. Our breakfast was good, we didn't use the restaurant or bar, so can't comment on those.
