"Let me start by saying I have traveled extensively all over the world and am very picky on the places that I stay. Ser CasaSandra saved our Holbox family holiday. I originally booked a hotel a few doors down from CasaSandra. Unfortunately it was loud and busy and not the boutique style hotel I was hoping for. The island is quite small so we walked down the road and were able to see all the other hotels. When we walked by CasaSandra we thought what a lovely chic hotel resembling a sort of St. Tropez vibe. From the beach loungers and chaise to the cute entryway and pool. I immediately inquired if they had availability and if I could see any of the rooms. I was shown an adorable ocean/beachfront room on the second floor with two double beds and white washed walls and decor. It was compact but so cute with tons of detail. Unfortunately the room was not available for our full stay. The reception team were so understanding and empathetic to my current situation and tried everything to make it work, promising me that if there was a cancellation I would be made aware, but in the meantime we were welcome as a family to access the hotel beach and pool with a day pass. That night we booked dinner at the hotel and were set on spending the rest of our stay on their beach. Dinner that evening was so amazing. Each course we had was flavorful and just yummy. My husband and 13 year old son and myself agreed we'd eat there every night it was so good. During dinner the Hotel Manager came to greet us and introduce herself as Jacqueline. She remembered seeing me in the office during the day. She too empathized with my situation and invited us to spend the days there. She was truly sincere and friendly and you could tell went the extra mile to put her customers/guests first. She made you feel like you were a guest in her very own home, and we truly did. The next day I headed over to CasaSandra to take their yoga class. It was held in their outdoor yoga shala with an experienced and great instructor. At the end of my yoga class Ava (reception) came up to me to let me know they had just had a cancellation and if we wanted to we could move to their hotel immediately. I was so excited! We immediately walked back to our original hotel and packed up ourselves and teenagers belongings and made our way back to our new home for the rest of our stay. The whole reception team were amazing getting things ready for us and making us feel so welcome. We were given one of their best rooms, a master luxury suite in the garden. It was cozy and quiet and perfect for the 3 of us. It was a well sized and appointed room that had a gorgeous king canopy bed with gorgeous white curtains draping over it, a sofa, a super sized bathroom with huge shower and separate stand up tub as well as a separate water closet. The room also had a separate dining area which we converted to a cozy bedroom for my 13 year old son. We had snacks in the room as well as refreshments and a nespre"
"Short Version: Great value. Wonderful experience. Would stay again and recommend to a friend. This a great boutique hotel. Location Perfect. Far enough from the center of Holbox to be calm, but close enough to quickly walk to bars and restaurants—or bike! Love waking up to water views. And the road is never very busy, so don’t worry about noise. Staff Friendly, attentive, professional, and always happy to help! Their warm welcome—including a freshly made juice—helped us feel at home. And the staff helped us plan some of our adventures and meals. Hotel The hotel is casually sophisticated and will certainly charm any guest. This is a unique boutique hotel that gets everything just right. A cozy seating area in the lobby, covered porches, hammocks, chairs for lounging by the beautiful pool, and even your own cabana by the waves! Plenty of places to nestle in with a good book or sprawl to soak up the sun. Room We opened the door to a white-washed oasis. The big stuff was spot on: comfortable beds, crisp linens, and a beautiful bathroom. But the real charm is in the details. Candles, incense, snacks, drinks, organic sunscreen and bug repellent, everything! They’ve thought of it all and included it in the price of your stay. You’ll really unwind here, as you open your sea-facing window and enjoy the view and refreshing breeze! Amenities Pool was serene and beautiful, but we spent more time in the sand. We took advantage of the bicycles. And we did book the Three Island Tour through the hotel. However, it’s not worth the price. You’ll get a private boat, which floats right up to the beach in front of the hotel. But there will be groups at every stop, so you may as will save some money and ride with a few other folks between stops. That said, it was fun! Restaurant and Bar Our first night we ate at the restaurant, outside with our feet in the sand! Good menu, I stuck with the freshly caught sea bass. Well-prepared, well-seasoned, and well-plated. Price seemed on par with the rest of the Holbox eateries. And having the drink service on the beach was great—you can charge it too the room, so no need to bring your wallet. The included breakfast was great. You have the option to eat from a buffet if your in a hurry or want something light. Or you can order from the menu. Service was friendly and quick, and food is yummy and fresh! "
"We stayed at this lovely hotel for 8 nights and had a wonderful time, the whole experience was luxurious in a shabby sheak sort of way, relaxing and therapeutic. The breakfast was included and was delicious, as healthy or indulgent as you could wish for. (There were items you could order for a charge, but there was plenty on the inclusive menu, so we didnt avail ourselves of this option). Lunch and dinner were equally good, the lobster pasta was among our top 5 dishes ever tasted anywhere and we really enjoyed the Valentines menu alongside the live music. Whilst non-hotel residents can book a table for dinner, hotel residents were always given priority over table booking and we felt very "looked after". The wine was good, a little pricey in comparison to any other hotels we stayed in. Our room, No 1 was on the first floor of the main building, it was very spacious with a lovely shady balcony (with hammock). The linen was indulgent, the bathroom large and adequate (a little tired), and we loved staying in this room - lovely little touches like candles, joss sticks, coffee, free beer, coke and water. And the turn down was discrete and added to the overall feeling of being pampered. The pool is lovely, usually quiet with comfy beds. The beach is glorious, always something to watch, a great bar service - slight issue when the hotel was selling daypasses to the sunbeds, though that was quickly resolved by the management and day passes will hopefully remain suspended. The non hotel guests did not enhance the vibe. The staff and service? Brilliant, every single person we came across was happy, relaxed and ready to help and we cannot speak highly enough of them, an absolute delight. Stuff to do - well we took our paints and enjoyed some relaxing mornings painting under the trees. The lively town is five minutes stroll away, you can walk miles along the sandy beach in the shallow water and we were lucky enough to see flamingoes as well as a host of other birds. The sunset was amazing and we were sad to leave. This stay left us feeling very refreshed and ready to return to our lives at home, very therapeutic. Thanks once again. (If this review sounds a bit gushy, its because this resort deserves it!)"

"We arrived on Holbox Island and began the search for a hotel, this one popped up after some searching. We thought let's try it because it has a n all-inclusive option. We booked online and chose the room, but did not book the online all-inclusive. When we arrived to check-in at the hotel we asked the concierge about the all-inclusive options. We discussed 2 options premium all-inclusive ($79.99usd pp) which " includes everything" the hotel rep stated, or the other all-inclusive ($69.99usd pp) option. We asked for the premium because my husband enjoys beer with his lunch/dinner and then cocktails after lunch/dinner. We finished checking in, and because it had been to early to continue on to our room we thought we would go to the restaurant area to eat a late lunch. When we arrived at the restraurant the waiter immediately approached the table. The waiter handed us a menu that has the included items for the premium all-inclusive options. We quickly browsed the menu and made some selections. We ordered our drinks, 1 water, 1 coke and 1 domestic (mexican) beer, the waiter stated beer and bottled water is not included in the premium all-inclusive. Only tap water and Modelo beer. We asked exacty what domestic beer where included in this all-inclusive price ? The waiter stated all domestic beer, OK well what beer do you have? only Modelo. What beer does the bar have? Modelo and a Yucatan beer. Ok He wanted the beer from Yucatan because that is a domestic beer. The waiter said no that beer is not included. OH MY GOODNESS!! We are in Mexico and in the state of Yucatan, but that beer is not included!! Ok What may I order that is included ? Only Modelo. The food was the same way options that were not included and some that were included, to say the least frustration took over. We ended up canceling our order and paying for the soda. We returned to the concierge and immediately canceled our premium all-inclusive option. The room was clean and had plenty of amenities. The bed was average firmness. There was not an issue of noise. The hotel, because of COVID-19, was still not accepting full capacity. The staff had been friendly but we felt as though the all-inclusive plan was a waste of money and a misrepresentation of the offered items."
"We stayed here with our two children, ages 9 and 12, in early March and it exceeded our expectations. I was a bit worried about our children getting bored but another family with kids the same ages was staying there which was perfect! We stayed in a room with the two beds and the plunge pool but the water in that pool was a bit too chilly for us to enjoy it. It would be VERY nice if they were heated in the cooler months. The beds were huge though and we all thought they seemed king sized. The bathroom was a little tight but otherwise the room was spacious enough. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the other two pools at the hotel and agreed they were larger than they looked online. The service and the food were another pleasant surprise. I had read mixed reviews on the breakfast buffet but I thought it was very expansive and included things for American, Mexican and European palates. We did the dinner buffet one night too and thought that was really good. There is a sandy road between the beach and the hotel but there are some beds on the beach side of that for your use. The island itself felt very safe and accessible. We rented a golf cart for a few hours one afternoon and explored the entire island. We also ate dinner out a few nights and didn't have a bad meal while there. We only wish that we could have stayed longer and we were all (especially the kids!) really sad to leave Holbox. I hope that we will be back one day soon."
"This was by far the best bang for your buck hotel we have ever stayed. It honestly seemed like a $300/night property to us. The rooms were sparkling clean, air conditioned, hot water, simply decorated with great porches with ocean view. The breakfast in the morning was phenomenal and the wait staff exceptional. They were all so friendly and attentive to our every need! The rooftop pool is amazing with an awesome sushi restaurant up there as well. The beach in Holbox is the most tranquil, relaxing places we have been in the world. The only downside to Holbox (which could also be a plus depending on the kind of vacation you are having and how much you like to disconnect!) is that the WiFi is awful. So if you work and travel like we do, it is extremely hard to do. We will definitely stay here again for our next two week stint and looove Holbox so much! It’s the perfect paradise!!! From the town to the beach, the Sandbar’s, shoppes, fabulous restaurants and amazing peoooe! We love it! "

"From the moment we checked in, I was overwhelmed with the beauty and character of Zomay. My husband and I stayed for a week over Christmas, while other family traveling with us stayed at nearby hotels. Our stay with Zomay was, by far, the best! The weather wasn't perfect, but that didn't prevent us from having a fantastic time during our stay... from the lovely breakfast on the beach every morning to the glorious drinks throughout our day, the staff did not disappoint. I would not describe the rooms as luxury, but rather rustic and unique, which is our style and what we were looking for. The bar was frequented often- best location on the beach- Eduardo was phenomenal and had us feeling like we were old friends, while the rest of the staff equally maintained exceptional customer service during our entire visit. This place was so accommodating, we even had a gift waiting in our room after it was cleaned on Christmas Eve- what a nice touch! <3 We highly recommend Zomay and will definitely be booking a stay here again whenever our next trip to Holbox may be!"
"We really enjoyed our stay at Zomay Hotel in Holbox! We had a great room that was closest to the beach, it had two beds one on an upper mezzanine in our bungalow. Room was clean (cleaned daily) with a fridge and safe, and i great porch with a hammock. They hotel offers a free daily breakfast which we thought was good and a nice touch. and the beach bar is cute and makes good drinks that they will serve to you on the beach. It is in a good location, easily walkable to everything. Staff was helpful and even set us up with a taxi/golfcart real early in the morning when we had to catch the ferry. The only upset, which is not a reflection of the hotel, but while we were staying there the seaweed was very present on ALL of the beaches in Isla Holbox, I'm just not sure the town has the resources to be able to clean it, seems like a big undertaking. So just make sure to do your research before to see what the seaweed situation is. BUT i would absolutely recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Isla Holbox."
"Back home after 9 days at hotel Zomay, my second time staying there, mostly because it’s rustic and super casual which for me is relaxing. The bar staff and restaurant staff made this trip for my husband and I , so , huge shoutout to Edwardo the bartender, super friendly but such a hard worker 🙌🏼 Luis, this guy also is on top of it, amazing service. Another shoutout is to our beautiful Argentinian breakfast girl . All in all a great trip."

"Were in thsi hotel. At the beggining everything went good enough. Ac. worked nicely. The room even had a mini fridge! which was a nice plus. Things went bad when got into the bath. Shower bas broken. After a few minutes the head of the shower fell off. Added to this, the watter wasn't hot enough. We reported this to the reception clerk whom said will be fixed. This didn't happen, sadly. At check out time not even apologies they said to us.I'd stay here again if it was my last option."
"The location and the rooms are great, but its a shame that the front desk service is so bad. They treat you like they are doing you a favour. In 2 nights 3 different situations and the receptionist Wigelby it look like she is trained to fight with the guest. The internet and the fridge not working at all. Holbox is very different now, dirty, expensive and horrible service.."

"This is a nice hotel and a great value. Pros Very close to town. Very walkable. Staff is wonderful. Rooms are clean. No signs of critters or mildew. AC worked great and the ceiling fan was a bonus. Shower worked perfectly. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was ok. If you are looking to grab something before exploring the island’ it works. Toast and fruit are the best. Juices are watered down(we watched them add water to the orange juice). Cons Although we has a balcony, it was not large enough for two to sit for private conversation. No wash cloth. There are not enough beach chairs for even a quarter of the rooms and they allow guest to “reserve” chair with beach towels and leave for hours. If you are going to walk the beach, which is very long, please forfeit your chair. It caused us to go to las nubes and use their day pass(great value, great facilities, wonderful beach near sandbar). Pools were cold as they are in shady areas. Could be a tad noisy for some as there’s live music at the hostel next door at night. We had a margarita an$ it was horrible, however my friends has a pina colada and thought it was one of the best they ever had. Drinks at Dreams were more expensive than the higher rated las nubes which I found interesting. Overall we would stay here again as it was a great value. We just know we would be using it primarily as basecamp. "
"I only had time to stay just 2 nights. The friendliness of all the staff was amazing. Truly kind and attentive. I hope I don’t leave anyone out: Front desk: vivianna. What a professional and helpful young woman. The service at the restaurant and the beach was exceptional. Flor, Lady, Omar, Livvia, Matti, Deanna, and I forgot the chef’s name, but was kind enough to come out and say hello. These people took good care of me. As a 50 year old woman traveling alone, I was blessed to have their company. I will be back. Food was always fresh and excellent. Clean rooms. Lovely and cottage like. Can’t say enough. "
"What a wonderful stay at HOLBOX DREAMS! The property was perfectly located on a beautiful part of the beach; The rooms were surprisingly large, and the beds comfortable. The breakfast offered was delicious. The most impressive part of the hotel was its' staff - very helpful and accommodating! Wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely be back. A beautiful dream vacation all around!"

"Stayed for the week ending March 8th Took the all inclusive package and was not disappointed The grounds are immaculately maintained the rooms are beautifully done in wood and tile with great balconies overlooking the grounds. The staff are all great but I do have to give a shout out to the staff in the lobby They are the face of the hotel and they are extremely polite efficient and knowledgeable The food here is fantastic and they have theme nights for their dinners We tried the Italian Mexican and Oriental. All were fantastic. Breakfast was amazing with many healthy options. Couple of minor things one being the seaweed on the beach Unfortunately there had been a storm previous week so a significant amount had washed onto the beach Staff had cleared a path through it so getting to the Ocean was not a problem Secondly as other reviewers have said there are spiral staircases leading up to the top two floors in your unit So if you have mobility issues this could be an issue, although I am sure the lobby staff would sort any problem for you regarding the need for lower floors."
"My boyfriend and I are what someone may call professional travelers = we vacation often, and we do our research! Simply put is the best hotel on the island, we plan to return at some point over the summer so we made a point of looking around at nearby accommodations. The grounds in this hotel are absolutely stunning, during the day when it is shining brightly with the warm sun, and during the night, when small hanging twinkle lights create the most romantic atmosphere ever. All the staff treated us with so much care and so much humility, we could not have been more pleased with the service. I cannot say more great things!!"
"We stayed in 4 hotels in Mexico on this trip, and this one, by far, was everybody's favorite! Upstairs (winding stairs and not for those with walking issues - but best view and balcony) & downstairs spacious Jr Suites in bungalows set in the jungle (picture Tarzan swinging by at any time) but beautifully manicured grounds. Pristine amazing white sand beach, cute little pool, WONDERFUL food and service (restaurant - Antonio and Lino). The front desk staff are great, bartenders (Carlos) great, wait staff (Jovana & Erik) fantastic! We plan to return next January!"

"My husband and I loved our stay at Hotel Puerto Holbox. The hotel was in a great location - close enough to walk to the square (about 5-7 minutes) but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The dog rescue is a block away as well so we were able to visit the dogs and take them out for walks. The room was decorated nicely and very clean; the hotel has beautiful landscaping. The included breakfast is awesome and service was great from the front desk to beach waiters. A few things that would make the hotel even better - the shower had really low water pressure and it was hard to rinse shampoo out of my hair, fans at the restaurants to keep the flies away and beach umbrellas at the beach club instead of sheets so that the view of the ocean isn't blocked. Those little things won't keep us from coming back, we're already booked for 9 nights in November!"
"Our rooms and the whole grounds were clean and a lot of space on the beach (sun and shade). Our beach shore was one of the CLEANEST on the whole island (we walked from end to end). This is super important since many were full of seaweed. Someone mentioned that you have to pay to use the front loungers but this was not the case for us. We were told guests can use them for free. Also, you get FREE BREAKFAST. It was good and they are very accommodating. There are 4-5 options and you get fruit/yogurt/granola with it too, plus other pastries if you want. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was a super nice bonus too! I would 100% stay here again!"
"We went during covid when hotels just started to open up - and this hotel does an excellent job with their precautions. Masks, sanitizer, and so on. The hotel grounds are beautiful, Pool is well kept and rooms and spacious, modern and clean. All have a sea view. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the quiet part of the beach/island and is beautiful. We would stay again. The beach area and restaurant wasn’t open yet due to covid. The hotels on each side offered nice views and meals. We had room 14 with king bed. Set back a little bit on the property but still with ocean view. "

"Located on the edge of the town of Holbox, the Xaloc Resort offers a less glitzy and more down-to-earth alternative to the bigger and more expensive resorts, while still offering beach frontage. The property is made up of single-room huts with grass roofs, and a small battery of motel rooms at the back of the property. There are two shallow pools, one for kids and one for adults (with a swim-up bar). There are lounge chairs (but no palapas or umbrellas) beachside, and just across the beachside road is an upper beach are with both lounge chairs and palapas for shade. We found the service to be hit or miss - good bar service on the beach, housekeeping did a pretty good job, while the front desk and restaurant were hit or miss - sometimes requests (or food orders) got fumbled there. The hot water was completely out for much of our week-plus stay, which caused quite a bit of distress. There was plumbing repair underway during our stay, and by the last few days the hot water was restored. The beds were exceptionally firm, but staff provided foam toppers to make them acceptably soft. Drinks were excellent at the bars, and food at the restaurant was solid to very good. The clientele skewed heavily toward northern Europeans dufring our visit. Several unaffiliated activities businesses border the resort for the active-minded. Catamarans were scarce and the snorkeling was poor (due to shallow, sandy seas), but there was beach volleyball, paddleboarding, and sea kayaking readily available. This resort is an excellent option if you want beachside location and can handle the occasional primitive conditions."
"Honestly, it is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. My fiance organized my engagement surprise with them and everything was more than perfect. The hotel owner, Claudia, was incredibly nice and went above and beyoned so our stay could be as worry free and relaxing as possible. The staff in general is incredibly helpful, nice and attentive. The rooms are simple but super cozy and have and amazing beach vibe. They are sort of mini cabanas. Very very clean and with all necessary amenities. You have the beach front right infront of the hotel with all furniture necessary. The food is really good and includes a GREAT mexican breakfast, which was a super bonus!!!! Also, I am vegetarian and they worked really hard to comply with my dietary restrictions. Honestly, onne of the best places you could stay at in Holbox!"
"2 friends visiting Holbox. We had a superior double room (not poolside). The room was very spacious, and cleaned well every day. Comfy beds and great aircon to keep the room cool. Shower pressure was average at times but I read it’s pretty common on Holbox. Location was great being across the road from the beach. Easy to switch from beach to pool and back. 5 min stroll to the main centre of town. Staff at our previous hotel had been really helpful asking what we were doing each day and recommending things to do, which we didn’t really experience here. "

"We loved Casa Barbara. It was really good – welcoming and helpful people (especially the lovely Carolina), a good sized room (although not a huge amount of space for clothes etc), with two big and really comfortable beds, good shower and a nice outdoor space looking out on to the lovely green garden area, with some evening sightings of raccoons. It is near the centre of Holbox, so close to all restaurants etc, a short walk to the beach, but still very peaceful. The pool was a good size – a bit shady but we were quite happy with that."
"My husband and are are staying here for 2 weeks for our 10th anniversary, we chose this hotel because of the pool- the pool is slightly more than half full and apparently slimy on bottom and not clear- so I have to assume untreated, not comfortable swimming in it. All of my requests to fill and treat pool have been ignored and I’m still hoping that it will be fixed. We also made special requests to have a second level to avoid screaming toddlers, requests are only applied to availability which I totally understand but the second level was empty when we checked in, yet we are on the bottom floor surrounded by screaming toddlers. The room is nice and the cleaning staff are wonderful but we will not stay here again. However we will be back to Isla Holbox "
"Love the customer service! Room was charming, spacious and clean. Internet was the best I found on the island. AC worked great. Comfortable king size bed. Like any place in town, it is noisy at times... But I love being close to everything, especially the ferry. My mother in law thought it was great. My budget loved it too. Yazmin is a kind and helpful person at the desk."
