Corso Umberto I, 154, Taormina, Sicily, Italy
"We had planned on having a relaxing holiday in beautiful Taormina. So we wanted a central hotel with a pool. And this hotel was just perfect! Exceptional! It was a dream come true! We spent ten days here. It is right on Corso Umberto, next to Piazza IX Aprile. How can you beat that?! It is slap in the centre of everything, shops, restaurants and Taormina life! From the Piazza you can see the marvellous infinity pool of this hotel. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed warmly by a male receptionist, who immediately offered us breakfast as we had had an early flight...I will never forget the breathtaking moment when the lift doors opened onto the terrace where breakfast is held, with a view of the bay and the surroundings, absolutely beautiful! Breakfast is very good, with freshly prepared eggs to your liking, cereals, fruit, cakes, yoghurt, ham and cheese, any sort of coffee, milk, juices and even sorbet served with light delicious brioche and also champagne. Bread is served warm and under a cover for every table, and it's delicious, something that cannot be taken for granted in this part of Sicily. Maria, in charge of breakfast, is charming and efficient - she discovered I love ricotta and the next day had a ricotta tart available for me! All members of staff are extremely polite and efficient and ready to help, I cannot praise them enough, all of them, receptionists, cleaners, maintenance - spot checks were carried out all the time. The hotel is very elegant and clean. All bed linen is pristine white and crisp, changed every day, towels also very thick, soft and white - never did we have a 'tired looking' towel - all this is very important for me. Bed and pillows very comfortable; turndown service and towel replenishment evening as well. The shower was great, an overhead one, a hand held one and side jets. Air conditioning very good and very silent. And to top it all, a really large terrace looking onto the bay! We spent every evening after returning to the hotel on extremely comfortable deckbeds, totally relaxed, enjoying the night view into the early hours. The terrace was the greatest asset of this room. And then the infinity pool - my dream come true! Perfectly crystal clear water, magnificent view and always warm because of the sunshine! I just couldn't get enough of it! Shower and toilet right next to it, great sun deck with deck beds in sun and shade, relaxing music in the background. I spent hours in the pool and felt really relaxed and refreshed. In the evening there is music in the lobby and the restaurant and bar on the terrace are a treat, with the magnificent sea view. Anyway, summing it all up - I must come back here as soon as it is possible, can't wait!"
"Hotel is extremely central allowing easy access to the most popular areas and sights of Taormina. Great views from the bar/restaurant and breakfast restaurant balconies. Cocktails expensive at an average of €20 Staff were outstanding in all areas. Our "Executive" room was small and faced the busy pedestrianised main thoroughfare, Corso Umberto. Our ensuite with sliding door consisted only of WC, bidet and washbasin. Our bath with overhead shower was located in the foyer area of the room directly in front of the bed behind the room door - very peculiar. The shower screen served for nothing and the water, whilst having a shower ended up all over the wood floor. As is common in many hotels (probably designed by men my wife tells me!) there is no proper dressing table to sit at comfortably in the room, but instead an unnecessarily large chest of drawers with no appropriate leg hole or chair. They have a turndown service, which involves putting thin clothes either side of the bed. These are extraordinarily slippy and as a consequence were something we had to request was not used. The safe was at the bottom of the wardrobe so very difficult to use and access. The cream corridor carpet (again, this could only be the choice of a man!) was badly stained and marked in areas. Breakfast was good. Spa was poor. The treatment room was cramped. We were expected to sit upright on a massage table with our feet uncomfortably put into a plastic bag lines foot spa at the end of the massage bed. Once soaked, we were expected to leave our feet dangling over the top of the spa which caused us both to have cramps. Probably the worst foot spa, pedicure and manicures we've experienced."
"Spent a long weekend at this hotel. The rooms are spacious but more importantly extremely clean which in this time of Covid puts one's mind at rest, The hotel is well set up ensuring sanitizer stations throughout the building. Terrace bar not only has amazing views but also amazing cocktails. Food, this was excellent we ate at the pool restaurant for light lunches which were delicious with an excellent selection of foods and wines. Then there is the dining area for the evenings on the solarium level which at night is magical with wonderful views down the coast but more importantly great food. Everyone working in the hotel went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed a trouble free stay."
