"We stayed at the JW Marriott in Edmonton overnight on October 31, 2020. Having been frequent travellers as a family over the years, we have stayed in Marriott properties all over North America, Europe and Asia. It was an amazing experience to stay at a hotel local to our home town which had the feel of a world class hotel. Right from check-in, we experienced friendly, thoughtful service from Waseem. With our lifetime Titanium Elite status and suite upgrade certificate, we still appreciated the upgraded suite and the next day late check-out. When we told the check-in team that we were staying at the hotel to celebrate our daughter’s 18th birthday, they happily said that there will be a little surprise. We went up to our beautiful suite, which was beautifully appointed and very spacious. The bathroom itself exuded luxury which we have not found in any other hotel in Edmonton so far. My wife said she even appreciated the art in our room, which included something from a local artist depicting the North Saskatchewan river in a creative way; she thought it was special for the hotel to show off a bit of Edmonton. In a short time, a beautiful tray of yogurt parfait, fresh fruit, and a delicious slice of cake was delivered to us, with a special, hand-written card (by Aryan) for our daughter, wishing her a Happy Birthday. She was so thrilled with this gesture, and this marked nicely the beginning of her birthday celebrations. We were excited to participate in a Paint Night at the hotel that evening, which included an Art Tour led by a very knowledgeable Chef Concierge Kyle. Our family was WOWed by this facility in so many ways. Such thoughtful design from the art hanging on the wall, to the shape of the lobby, to echoes of Edmonton’s hockey greats in various public spaces, to beautiful living wall enclaves. And the fitness center!! Extremely spacious with state of the art equipment. Kudos to the design team for this facility for incorporating local flavor and “ice district” highlights in so many beautiful ways. We were in and out of the hotel throughout the stay and every time, greeted enthusiastically from each member of the staff that we walked pass. Chats with Waseem, Aryan and Kyle, comparing notes on various properties around the world, and even sharing bits about our families made this hotel stay unlike any other, so personable and welcoming in every way. This is a hotel that we will definitely return to whenever we want to take future Stay-cations. In fact, we have already recommended this hotel to friends and family. Thank you so much, JW Marriott Edmonton team. You gave us a memorable, fantastic stay."
"We usually don't stay at places like this, but having the points to redeem for a night, we decided to splurge and stay here, as our primary focus for that evening was going to the Chiefs-Oil Kings game that night. From the moment we pulled up to park, the service was outstanding. The valet was friendly and helpful, and even offered a choice of small stuffies for my daughter to choose one from and keep. Check in was quick and easy, luggage was delivered to our room quickly, and the room was beautiful and clean. We had a two queen basic room. The location across from Rogers Place was ideal. You don't have to go outside to get to Rogers Place, the community rink, or the Grand Villa Casino. There's also access to a light rail station through the skyway. The pool area was beautiful and clean. The windows and the natural light are great in the pool area. I enjoyed walking in the meeting/banquet room area, seeing rooms named after former Oilers and seeing the pictures on the walls. The bubble hockey game was an added bonus. I liked that the concierge had both Edmonton and national newspapers, along with brochures and guides for tourists. We order room service after the hockey game and the food was good and the service was friendly and welcoming. I am disappointed we didn't try the flavored ice, maybe next time. Check out was easy, the valet retrieved our car quickly, and we were out of there in minutes. I also got to run into Four Broncos Memorial Trophy winner Adam Beckman in the elevator, so that was pretty cool, too, along with Chiefs teammate Eli Zummack. They were the reason for the trip, so it was cool to see that they got to stay there, too. Would definitely recommend to anyone going to an event at Rogers Place. Maybe the best 40,000 points I've ever used on a hotel room."
"Hotel is the best in Edmonton However; if you eat plant based the food is disappointing. Their needs to be more plant based food on the menus...It is very annoying to stay at a luxury hotel and then have to order out to get good plant based food. There is LITERALLY NOTHING plant based on the menu in the lobby! I think it is so hypocritical to say they are "Green" and "Environmental" (not that these are really important to me) But then almost all they serve is meat in the restaurants here. Also I ordered one of there most expensive bottles of red wine and they opened it and poured it in front of me and it was really cold! I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew they serve it cold, I'm not interested in drinking COLD red wine ....They should mention to you that the wine is cold before they open the bottle and serve it to you. If you like plant based food you should talk to the hotel in advance before you book and make sure they can serve you good plant based food as they told me that he restaurants and not run by the Marriott but by a separate company.. they seemed apologetic about it but still was difficult to eat plant based. I cant imagine them staying this way as the hotel is new and they seem to be stuck in the cave man stone age so hopefully by the time you are reading this they will have drastically changed all of the menus."
