Well, the valet & front desk staff were cordial, the room was quite small with a weird sliding window between the sink & the bed, the special big ice they encourage you to order doesn't fit in any of the glasses provided in the room...the room service was hit & miss...the workout area was absolutely AMAZING though...world class... The lobby bar is quite crafty/cold in winter...almost everyone had their coats on...the bartender was excellent! All in all not good value for your dollar...

It has been a few years since I last stayed at this hotel. I was greeted at reception by Chris who was very friendly and efficient. Chris is a great ambassador for the hotel and makes you feel welcome. He thanked me for choosing the hotel and being a Titanium Bonvoy member. I did receive the expected amenities for my stay. Parking is very easy with the West parkade adjoining the hotel. I chose this hotel due to a meeting close by and then a second night being close to enjoy an Oilers game at Rogers Place. I enjoyed breakfast at District 102 Restaurant which is part of the hotel on 3rd floor (separate review). I was upgraded to a very nice suite which overlooks the City Centre Mall. Beds are very comfortable, work area is very good and chairs are very welcoming. Room and bathroom were very clean. Housekeeping staff are also very friendly and greeted me in the mornings (stayed two nights). This hotel is ideal for venues in the downtown area. Access is easy and a very welcoming and inviting staff. I look forward to returning soon.

Once again, the location is good, that is, the square is now being repaired, and the surrounding roads are not so good. His bed is awesome, that is the feeling of sleeping and not wanting to get up.

Never picked this hotel for my stay as it was pre-booked but I was impressed the minute I walked in. Staff was friendly and my check in process was quick and easy and even walked to the elevator. Room was spacious and clean, bed was big and soft! I will stay here again when I'm in town for personal reasons for sure!

We stayed at the Matrix in August when we travelled to Edmonton to bring our daughter back for University. The location is a great central point for us to go to the University of Alberta campus. The added bonus was the breakfast in the morning. Lots of choices of breakfast options and a seating area. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Breakfast is a typical continental breakfast, but there are a wide range of fruits, dairy products and bread. The reception is very friendly and valet parking is very convenient. It is very close to Albert University Hospital and within walking distance.

We had 3 rooms booked for one night. The price was right, and the view to the river valley was lovely. Unfortunately, to get that view, one must stay in a room directly opposite the elevator, which is fine for some, but can be noisy. The beds seemed comfortable, but the bathrooms were grungy and out-dated, and the faucet handles on my sink turned the opposite way from what is typical here. There really should be free parking for guests, especially in this rougher part of town. And please put some barrier under the door, as the light from the hallway is really bright at night, and if there were a fire, the huge gap would permit a lot of smoke into the room.

The hotel is just strategically located and convenient for shopping. Nothing else is good! The rooms are outdated, the sanitation is average, the service attitude is not good, there is no feeling of a star hotel at all! You can't get good floors and rooms when you book on Ctrip!
