Reviews From Real Travelers
A very nice small hotel on the main promenade in downtown Douglas, Isle of Man. An easy 20 minute drive from the airport. Since this was off season there was not much traffic or visitors in general. The check in in the evening was quick and efficient. The receptionist/manager on duty was very welcoming and friendly. (As a side note, if you have a rental car, parking is a bit tricky. We parked in the front briefly to unload luggage, in the EV charging spaces. No other close place to park. Then drive the car around the corner to the Chester street parking garage. The charge for parking depends on the time of day and day of the week. The first 2 hours are free and at night. When you have to pay you will need coins.) Our deluxe room on the 2nd floor with king bed was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. Our room in the back side looked towards the main shopping street. No noise from the street but some music late night from a tavern nearby. Our daughters room on the front side had a great view of the ocean. The decor and ambience of the hotel areas and room were exceptional. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The service and food were both very good. The manager and staff seem to always be there to provide advice or help with questions. The hotel is on the main promenade close to the old historic Gaiety Theatre. It is easy walking distance to anything in downtown Douglas including the Bee Gees Statue. Always take a rain jacket or umbrella since a light rain seems to always come and go during the day. If I can get to the Isle of Man again I would definitely stay at the Halvard House.

My trip was ending very badly, two sailings cancelled thought I would try a different hotel for the extra night. The trip ended superbly, what a lovely place, just has to be the best on the island? Location room quality and super friendly Staff. The breakfast was the best, just to cap it off. I will be back.

Reviews From Real Travelers
Lovely hotel, ideally placed for the city centre, Villa Marina, Gaiety Theatre, horse drawn tram and the electric railway. We stayed in a 4th floor room overlooking the Broadway with a partial view of the sea and could see the coming & goings in the Ferry Port. It was spacious and had everything we could need. Toiletries, hairdryer, safe, iron & ironing board, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and a fridge as well as a charging port and more electric sockets than I have ever come across. The breakfast was a lovely cooked buffet, along with continental, cereals, juice, yoghurts, fruit. We only had 1 evening meal, but it was lovely and the chef changed the rice for potatoes & veg for me. Gorgeous desserts. Staff were all pleasant but we especially liked the housekeeper and exchanged a few words with her every day on our way to or from breakfast. If we were to travel to the IOM again, we would definitely stay at the Mannin.....just hope for better weather :)

Good hotel, good location on the promenade. Staff are friendly. Would recommend for a short stay, especially if staying for business. Breakfast is usually buffet but on my visit this wasn’t available . Only downside of the area is that there’s no local shops that stay open past 18:00 while I was here.

We chose this hotel because of its location,we had a sea front room ,lovely view. The hotel staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and perfect for what we wanted .The food was either a buffet style (hot) or you could choose of the menu ,we ate there twice and then went a little further a field to try something different, the breakfast was excellent .We would definitely stay there again .

Came to visit my old colleague. This hotel is quite old but location wise is good. Have some entertainment such as cinema and ******. Also chinese restaurant attached. But better come here in summer as most tourist attractions closed.

Lovely hotel. The service was exceptional, I can't praise the staff enough. The room was cosy and had nice views to the seafront. The breakfast was delicious and there was a good choice (no veggie option but it was still possible to order only the non-meat options like eggs and mushrooms). I would definitely recommend this hotel

It is worth mentioning that the beef burger in this hotel restaurant is exceptionally delicious. The location of the hotel is not bad, there are many places to go to the pier to transfer. There is also the front desk is very warm.
- YUAN
In general, it is really hot without air conditioning, and there is nothing to eat nearby. The transportation is not convenient, and it is not cost-effective in other places, but the island has to accept it because of the price.

Back again for our yearly stay in the At Caledonia! Stayed for fourteen nights bed and breakfast. Greeted warmly on arrival and felt like we hadn't been away. Got checked in and received the key to our usual room, No 7 (a family sea view). Room was clean and tidy, complete with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Toiletries had also been left out in bathroom for use if required. Bed lien and towels were spotless, as was the table linen at breakfast. Breakfast was delicious! A selection of cereals, yoghurts, apple/orange juice and condiments are available at a self-service station to the rear of the dining room. The cooked breakfast was a good size and could be customized to suit individual needs. The standard Full English comprised of: two sausages, piece of bacon, fried egg, beans, hash brown and half a cooked tomato. Scrambled, boiled and poached eggs also available. Staff as always helpful and friendly. Always willing to help where needed and accommodate guests needs. At Caledonia is dog friendly and our dog had the best stay! Dogs are not allowed in dining room but not an issue. The location of the hotel is perfect! Just a short 10-15 minutes walk from the Manx Electric Railway terminus and just 2 minutes from a bus and horse tram stop. Close to local pubs and eatery's including 'The Queens Pub' and 'Majestic Chinese Restaurant'.

Situated towards the north end of Douglas, this is a typical old Victorian hotel. Narrow and tall in a long terrace. Access is up a flight of steps so access would not be possible for wheelchair users. I arrived about 10:45pm from the ferry from Liverpool. I had notified the hotel of my arrival time at the time of booking. I was greeted at reception by a very friendly Irish gentleman who signed me in and gave me the key to my room. I had a double room with a sea view on floor 3, not very large but fine for me. The room looked like it had been recently refurbished with contemporary furnishings and colours and was spotlessly clean. The only criticism was the tiny en suite shower room but was OK for my needs. The staff were mainly Chinese but were very polite and friendly. The dining room was quite large and becomes a Chinese Restaurant in the evening. I didn't sample it myself. Breakfast was good but you had to say what you wanted. There was a choice of cereals and cooked breakfast afterwards. I was there for six nights and would definitely recommend it. Oh, and they accommodate guests dogs although I never saw one during my stay.
