"Not really a 'boutique hotel' as they describe themselves, more a pub with rooms. When we registered, we were shown a scratty piece of A4 paper with details of the outside door code, wifi code and the number of the manager in case of emergencies. We were asked to take a photo of this piece of paper on our phones... it appeared they couldn't manage to print out four copies (there are only four rooms) for the guests. On first entering our room, I noted and appreciated the shutters and curtains at the windows which, as our room was overlooking the street, shut out what would have been a lot of light spill. The en-suite bathroom was lovely, but I was somewhat concerned by the spare toilet roll being kept on the handle of the toilet brush. Not sure how sanitary that is! The room was furnished with a matching suite of furniture, an ornate bed, bedside cupboards, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. The wardrobe in particular was massive. In height and width about as big as the bed, and far, far too big for the room. It completely dominated the space. The rail inside the wardrobe was very high too. I doubt that anyone under 5' 4" would been able to hang anything up in there. There was no chair, stool or bench to put your clothes on overnight or if you were changing or showering. Next we came to the plug sockets. They were in some odd places. I would imagine the planning of where the sockets went came before the furniture had been measured properly. Both of the plug sockets on one side of the bed were covered by the leg of the bedside table. When the table was moved we found that neither socket actually worked. There was a bedside lamp but that was wired straight into the wall. The switch on the lamp on the other side of the bed was faulty, so the lamp had to be switched on and off at the wall socket. Thankfully the ones on that side of the bed were functioning. Then the electrical appliances. There was a fan, a kettle, a pod style coffee machine and a large tray of coffee, tea and biscuits on the large chest of drawers. They all took up so much space there was very little left to put any of our own possessions down anywhere. The switch on the fan didn't work (are you sensing a theme here?) and when we asked the manager about this, we were told it had to be switched on and off at the wall socket. When we returned to our room after our evening out, we discovered the fan was plugged in to an extension lead of four sockets which was left dangling down the side of the chest of drawers. All the electrical items were plugged in to this lead. When the fan was switched on it was incredibly noisy, it sounded like the thing was about to fall apart. Neither of us had a good night's sleep. The bed linen was of reasonable quality, but the pillows were flat, thin and hard. All four of them. The mattress was cheap, thin and uncomfortable. The pub below (which is below all four of the rooms) was playing pop music quite loudly which made it impossible to "

"We booked three rooms for a girls weekend and had a really lovely stay. beautifully decorated and staff who went out of their way to help. Two rooms had beautiful big baths and the showers were great. Big comfy beds. We didn't eat in the pub - but used our hosts advice to sample some of the local cafes and restaurants of which there were many to choose from. It was a great small historic town with lots of interesting shops."
