"What did we like about Roman Lake? Everything; the staff, the room, the location, the treatments, the food, the peace and quiet. The staff in particular went out of their way to help us in any way that they could. We were invited to the sister hotel for New Years Eve dinner on the beach, an experience we’ll never forget. On the last night they also put on a special dinner for us. We have left the hotel fully refreshed and extremely happy. Thank you so much. We will certainly be back at some point in the future!"
"The perfect place to relax with your family. Great location, calm surroundings and mind blowing setup of the super deluxe rooms. Personally haven't tasted better food anywhere else. Authentic and Western dishes were so delicious. Staff, specially Having Anushka in their team is a privilege. All other staff were very friendly and supportive. Excellent and recommended Ayurvedic treatments from professionals. Very highly recommended."
"Two of my friends and I were at the Lake for a two day girls trip and it was incredible! The service was fantastic–Mohan, the night manager, and the lady at the front desk were going out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible. The food was out of this world and so were the massages and the informative, relaxing boat ride on Madhu River organized by the hotel. Would highly recommend the stay for crowds of all sizes!"

"The design of the property is something else. There has been so much thought behind the project. I’ve never stayed in a property quite like it. The unassuming entrance opens up in to a world of luxury. The furnishings, the public areas and the rooms are all spot on. The staff are simply fantastic and congratulations to the gentleman who looks after the beautiful gardens/flowers and the pool area. The staff always professional. The highest level of service and the staff are always smiling. The food is also lovely. The pool is something else and the train line at the end of the garden is well, just unique! Yes the trains may wake you. (Ear plugs provided. Another nice touch) Yes it does feel a bit strange sitting watching the train go past but my wife, daughter and I thought it was wonderful! The other side of the train track is a beautifully kept and quiet beach area which although open to the general Public is spotless and swimming was possible in February. 5/5 for the room. 5/5 for the staff. 5/5 for design and 5/5 for cleanness. Possibly another mirror in the bedroom is about all I can think of if to add anything at all. Thank you also for the late check out. It made our time so much more relaxing and it’s truly appreciated. It is located on a nice quiet spot of beach but less then a ten minute walk to water sports galore. My daughter loved her first surfing experience! Go stay it’s very special and you wont regret it!"
"My wife and I visited the Long House in Feb for 4 nights and I have to say it is one of the best places we have ever visited. The staff are amazing, the perfect balance between attentiveness and knowing when to leave you in peace. Nothing is ever too much to ask. The building itself is stunning. Tasteful and practical interiors and facilities with very spacious rooms and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The food. Well. Its simply out of this world. Everything is fresh and home made by some seriously talented chefs (might even just be one guy as we only met one). Some other reviews have said the food is a bit pricy, I don’t know if they have adjusted their pricing since, or if the local establishments have upped theirs, but it was only very slightly higher than the beach shacks and local restaurants - for far superior quality. Seriously, don’t even bother eating out. Afternoon tea (served by the pool at 4:30 every day) is a lovely touch and the little treats they serve along side are delicious. I always try and give constructive criticism, but honestly I’m struggling to think of anything. Perhaps the front gate security could be a bit more friendly when you first arrive? But its pretty much the same as everywhere in Sri Lanka. Overall we both loved it and would come back in a heartbeat."
"Spent just 4 nights here following my husbands work trip in Kalutara. The hotel is immaculate, beautifully styled with incredible attention to detail in both its facilities & service. The staff are attentive & charming & the food is wonderful. We don’t usually eat where we stay as it’s nice to get out in the evening & sample local restaurants but the Long House & The Rock villa’s food was so good & well priced, we didn’t bother after the 1st night. Can’t recommend this place enough, one of the loveliest hotels we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. "

"I based myself here for a few days to mainly visit the Brief and Lunaganaga gardens. It is a small place, away from the beach but not so far. The property and grounds are beautiful. In the “Sri Lankan style’ with a historic Doctors house and newer buildings all with authentic furniture. Pool lovely. A highlight for me though was the food with Haiendra “Harry” going out of his way to educate me about Sri Lankan food, planning different and interesting meals and telling me about them and the cooking techniques. All expertly prepared by Amila. He also showed me around the garden pointing out all the species especially the edible one. I learnt a lot. Thanks."
"I was staying at your beautiful place at the beginning of this November. I just wanted to send a message to say again how absolutely lovely the stay was. Everything was so wonderful and your brilliant team of people looked after us so exceptionally well. The food was really delicious, the garden was totally serene, the rooms were stunning and i can't stress enough how everyone working at Nisala Arana was so kind and caring and attended to our every need! Please pass on this message to everyone working there. I really hope to visit again! Warm wishes."
"This is a beautiful hotel without any ‘touristy feel’, rather homely but with impeccable service. My husband and I got married here and had the most amazing three night stay. The gardens are beautiful, the decor is sophisticated with a down to earth touch, the food was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Definitely a good choice for nature lovers looking for a smaller/private feel. Really appreciated the warm hospitality of the staff who went out of their way to make our occasion special!"

The Muse, Robolgoda,, Bentota, Southern Province, Sri Lanka
"My family and I are traveling often ever were in Sri Lanka because the satisfaction in it is priceless. During our every tour, we also look closely at the hotels where rooms is super clean or not . We went to a hotel in the south , it’s called Taru villa muse . But as soon as we entered the hotel, we immediately felt that the Tara Hotel system was a few feet away the other usual hotels . A hotel is always a hotel and it's hard to feel like home. But Tharu Villa instantly made us feel at home. The service offered by the Taru villa and the subtleties of the place take us back to the wonderful details of the place. This hotel system is without a doubt the number one in the world. To Anyone in any country in the world I can proudly, responsibly recommending Taru villa in Sri Lanka as the number one hotel / Villa destination with pride. My personal marks are as follows : For atmosphere 💯 For welcoming 💯 Guidance about the place and knowlage 💯 Room cleanliness 💯 Foods quality, looks and presentation 💯 service From staff and their knowledge 💯 Fine details , fine details and fine details 200% "
"There is a lot to like about this 9 roomed boutique hotel sandwiched between Taru Villas two other boutique hotels just off the Bentota Beach. Unfortunately for us the friendly service, good food and access to an almost deserted beach were let down by the room & trains. Our standard room 7 was well appointed but felt like a cell. The only small window at the back looked out on a brick wall and the stable door front meant that the room was dark and claustrophobic when closed and not private when open. This was because the main walk down from the main house/restaurant/pool to the beach was narrow so that inevitably fellow guests walked down to the beach close to this room. It was also strange to have access to hot water in the shower but not in the bathroom basin. Not essential i now but not what I would expect from an upmarket hotel. The other problem was the trains which run up and down the coast between the hotel and the beach. The hotel recognises this fact by providing ear plugs but the suggestion that trains only run between 7am & 11pm was not the case. During our 2 night stay we had trains coming through from 4am onwards and they sounded as if they were almost in the room although we were 40m from the line. I suspect the rooms in the House are quieter but all those in this run towards the line will be noisy."
"We had our last 3 days here before flying back to Australia and they were fabulous. This small boutique hotel had the best staff, location near the beach and incredible local food. We didn’t want to leave! Rooms were spacious and sparking clean. Wifi was strong. The pool was perfect. We dined at the restaurant attached for all our meals....it was so good, and that includes breakfast and dinner. We just loved the Sri Lankan curry feast. In fact, we had to share one between two as there was so much food. The staff were exceptional....all of them, and went out of their way to make sure you had a wonderful stay. Make this your base in beautiful Bentota. ps it was just over an hour and a half to the airport."

"After reading reviews I was unsure of what to expect. This is more like a 5 bedroom villa with staff on site. It's on the beach and has a lovely pool, which we had to ourselves most of the time. The area is very quiet and theres not much to do so its perfect if you just want to relax for a few days. I couldn't fault this place on anything. The villa was always clean and is absolutely stunningly decorated. The staff couldn't do enough for us.They are so polite and kind. I can't understand how people can complain that the staff weren't at their beck and call at 2am. They work all day everyday and like any human deserve a rest. I would really recommend this place for a few nights. We took a tuk tuk 10 minutes down the road every evening to a lovely restaurant called Bor'deu which in my opinion was the best food in Sri Lanka. Be prepared you will need a driver if you want to explore as you cannot walk anywhere. We visited Galle, Hikkaduwa and Marissa for day trips. We booked with a driver called Sameer who we stumbled apon since our last driver let us down. He was brilliant and the only driver out of 3 we had that drove sensibly. +94772294580"
"We loved our stay at sandals. The place situated right by Galle Road, a five bed room villa in a 40-45 perch property- directly facing the beach Superb access to the beach although the beach is quite rocky in the Balapitya area the view was breathtaking. Its a small property, and despite the proximity to the main road all sounds are drowned by sound of the sea! . We liked our room-we were upgraded to the larger suite and it was amazing. The staff was gold! They were at our beck and call , and the meals were prepared well and realy good ! The menu is a tad limited but our stay was just 3 days so we had options to pick from The reservations managers checked on us constantly before ans during the trip to ensure everything was smooth Overall, great stay. "
"Ignore some of the bad reviews this place is breathtaking!! We stayed here for 5 nights and was overwhelmed from the moment we walked in. The accommodation is stunning, amazing pool, beach is pretty much yours and is spectacular! Rooms are spacious and well decorated and the staff are wonderful and friendly. This isn’t a private villa or hotel it’s something unique and in between. Don’t hesitate to choose this place. Yes it’s true there’s not a great deal going in around the local area but Hikkaduwa is only 30 mins in a tuc tuc for very little where there is plenty of bars and restaurants. We felt so relaxed and pampered. Having had a really busy schedule travelling around Sri Lanka this was just a perfect place to chill and take in the amazing view. "

Calamansi Cove, Wijerama Road, Brahakmanawatte, Balapitiya, Southern Province, Sri Lanka
"Overall it is good, it belongs to the hotel managed by JETWING. Except that breakfast is not a buffet but a set meal, everything else is pretty good. The environment is good, the room is big, there is a yard, small and fresh. There are only 13 rooms and the service is more enthusiastic. The lack of facilities is that there is no gym. The location is more difficult to find. Worth staying and will come again."
