This is the second hotel I stayed in Kyoto. Before going to Aman, I read some of posts here that the service was bad. I then quite regret to make a room reservation though I was impressed by the photos and posts from website. Besides, I had a bad first impression toward Aman Kyoto as they replied email for at least 3 days. This is not acceptable for such hotel with high room rate. When I arrived the hotel for the first day, I was quite surprised by the service. The hotel staff load my luggages from taxi efficiently and sent them to rooms directly. Then I was guided by another staff for check-in. She served me and my child a cup of green tea. This green tea is very special. Its taste is green tea but has a floral smell. My kid and I were very impressed. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy one before leaving. Then we went to Living Pavilion to have lunch. After lunch, our room was ready and a staff took us to the room and introduced us the facilities. The room is spacious, even the bathroom. We stayed in room 楢 . It is near the Living Pavilion, hotel’s restaurant. It is quite quiet. For our staying of two nights, we almost had dinner in room. The Udon noodle tastes good. My son ate it in lunch time and two dinner time. The hotel also provides welcome desserts for every night. First night is dried persimmon and the second night is chocolates. The chocolates are very very yummy. I tried the spa massage for two times. It is really good. As only me and my son in this trip, he couldn’t use the complimentary onsen. I then paid for a private onsen. It is very comfortable. The room’s pillows are very hard. My kid and I didn’t have a good sleep. We asked the front desk to give us a softer one for second night. It still doesn’t fit for me. Thus I didn’t sleep well during my stay. The breakfast had three choices: Western, Japanese and wellness. We tried western and Japanese breakfast. Both are delicious. Especially French toast in western style and porridge in Japanese style. The taste is unforgettable. The hotel environment is very comfortable. It is far away from the city. Only trees and grass around us. Everywhere has fresh air. It refreshes me. If the bed and pillow fit me, it will be perfect. We also had lunch in Tak-An restaurant. The food is good. The staffs are very nice and kids-friendly. They are very tolerant to kids. The check-out process is also very smooth. Everything is well-prepared, even our luggages. We booked a transportation to the Kansai Airport through the hotel. The driver is nice.

What i love here: - Location. Is peaceful , by the mountain . - Landscape simple natural. Nothing special, but relaxing - Room is nicely decorated, good quality material, amenities, skin care set . - main Restaurant is nice , delicious and cozy What make me disappointed: - Small SPA AND VIEW from the spa . Its not about size, it’s about managing space and view .. Relaxing area for tea after Spa not relaxing and too small - I really missed some chair or something to stop, seat during the walk in the park and enjoy .. because only one place where you can get tea or snacks is the main restaurant .. i saw you have few pavilions on the hill for the rooms , why there cannot be Spa? Because view from the rooms to be honest almost the same . - Need more trees to cover public road for the cars.. its make us feel that we still not in deep forest as you advertised. Its also not very private

Except for the unhappy dinner at Yasaka Teppanyaki, I was very satisfied with everything else. From the greeter at the hotel entrance to the front desk reception, including the room attendant, the service was very considerate. The catering needs to be improved. There are not many breakfast varieties and the taste In general, the fruits are not very fresh, the Yasaka Teppanyaki set meal is expensive and not delicious, and the ingredients are very average. Yasaka is because of the beautiful scenery of the sunset. The scenery in Yasaka is good, but the food is average, and most importantly, you have to first Pay a deposit. If you don't cancel three days in advance, you will be charged the full amount. In short, the entire Park Hyatt Kyoto Hotel feels like its services are good except for the restaurant.

Very good hotel, the view is simple, and the stay is very comfortable It’s a pity that I didn’t eat at the famous restaurant here. Maybe it’s different if I’m a member of Hyatt Regency.

This Ritz-Carlton location sitting on Kamogawa and Hagashiyama mountains, is one of the best locations to stay in Kyoto. The architecture is gorgeous on every level as you enter the hotel. You feel transported to a particular place that you will never forget. In addition, the quality of service the Ladies and Gentlemen provides goes above and beyond any other Ritz-Carlton location. Staying at the Kamogawa Executive Suite was an unforgettable experience. Approximately 1350 sq. ft., the suite provides luxury accommodations that exceed the highest expectations of any guest. The bathroom is gorgeous, especially the bathtub, where the wall and bathtub are decorated with sakura flowers. The bed is comfortable, and the living room is quite spacious. One thing I would have loved to see inside this room is a Genkan to place shoes as you enter the suite. Preserving the floor and rug is necessary and educates foreign guests about the importance of doing this. Another aspect that I loved about this place was Mizuki. Every morning I visited it for a Japanese-style breakfast, and it was a fantastic experience. In addition, I went to one of their sushi demonstrations and felt that I had a lifetime supply of sushi. Every bite was delicious, and the chef went above and beyond to make every guest feel special. Please make reservations for kaiseki, tempura, teppanyaki, and of course, sushi during your stay in advance. The spa is also a must if you are staying in this location. It is one of my most relaxing experiences, and the facilities are excellent. As you enter the spa, all the details regarding the walk to the counter or attendant, the changing room, and the pool area are planned quite well, so the guest can feel extra special and disconnected from reality. Finally, I must recognize the Ladies and Gentlemen's hard work and dedication at the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto. Thank Ana and Naoto, for your friendly welcome to the hotel and making things possible during my stay. Chef Tomohiro Goda and his team provided an experience I will never forget at Mizuki. Naoki was friendly and helpful as I researched information. Pablo and Thain were attentive to my needs as I left the hotel and provided a great experience as I checked out. Special thanks to Carlos for leading such a fantastic Ritz-Carlton property in Japan and consideration prior to my stay. This is one of the top Ritz-Carlton properties I have stayed in, out of 25 Ritz-Carlton. I will cherish all the memories that I gained from this place and will make sure to come back in the future.

The Ritz Carlton Kyoto is a beautiful property with a wonderful staff. The decor is quite elegant both in the public areas and rooms. The hotel has a very attentive staff in all the key areas from the bellhop, to the greeters, to the restaurant staff, and the front desk. The housekeeping team did an excellent job servicing the rooms. The food at the hotel is spectacular. We tried the Tempura tasting one night and it was a fabulous meal. The chefs were masterful at preparing delicate and delicious food and our server was excellent as well. We also tried the Italian restaurant which was good good as well. The breakfast was very well done with a very tasty strawberry juice we both loved and unique croissants which were very good. We tried the Japanese breakfast one morning as well which was very tasty too. The loyalty manager Mr. Sakamoto was very helpful during our stay suggesting some nice things to do and looking up some good restaurants for us too. The associates do a fantastic job taking very good care of their guests. We would recommend anyone visiting Kyoto to stay at the beautiful Ritz Carlton property.

Because we brought children, according to the hotel's regulations, we cannot live in a room in the old building. After arriving at the store, the staff showed us other room types and made replacements, which was very considerate.

We were a group of 6 people staying at the Hotel Mitsui on a trek through Japan. Suffice it to say, that the group was all pleased that we stayed here. Our initial check in process was a bit bumpy (no tea service) as it was clear everyone was checking into the hotel for a holiday weekend. However, within 30 minutes, we were all on our way to our rooms. Overall, the hotel and the rooms are designed in muted tones and a modern zen vibe. Where other hotels would simply have drywall covered with pictures, the Mitsui has clearly thought about every surface. We were in a room that looked out to the central garden, which is beautiful. The room had a nice long marble bench at the entrance which was nice for putting shoes on or setting things down to pack / unpack. Further in the room, there is a bar area, desk area and a nice long padded bench by the window. Controls for the room are near the bed and you can dim lights or raise and lower blinds with ease. The bathroom is a very clever design with two pocket door entrances, offering a closet area, double sink, a wet room with tub and shower and rom for the toilet. The room for the toilet is wide and very peaceful. Of course, it comes with the fancy Toto Neorest toilet that raises and lowers the seat automatically, has a heated seat, has a bidet feature and more. The shower offers both a hand held and a rain head that with a fine spray. Bathroom toiletries are crafted for the Hotel Mitsui. Of course, robes were available (just ask if you need a different size). Let’s talk about sleeping…. The bed was among the most comfortable that I have ever tried (firm, with just the right amount of softness). Down pillows and a duvet complete the scene. And course, should you not like your pillow, there is a pillow menu. The rooms at the Mitsui are quiet with blackout shades. At night, gentle nightlights illuminate the path to the bathroom. In all, the sleep experience is well thought out and devine. One of the stand out features of the hotel would be the Thermal Springs in the basement. The Thermal Springs are a modern version of a traditional Japanese onsen. Access is open to everyone in the hotel, but the number of people permitted in is managed to in more than 14 people at a time. You have to call ahead to make sure there is space, but in our case, we were always able to get in. Anyone who out touring in Kyoto, should make time in their busy schedule to visit the Thermal Springs between their tours and dinner - it is a great way to wash off the city and relax before dinner - very civilized. This review is particularly fun for me as our stay at the Mitsui ultimately caused us to break up with our travel agent. He was SO insistent that we stay at the Ritz , he could not imagine trying something new like the Mitsui (nor was he willing o have his team check it out). In the end, I feel vindicated, we loved our stay at the Mitsui and would happily return

The Mitsui Kyoto Luxury Collection is a perfect blend of elegance, modernity, and traditional charm situated at the heart of historic Kyoto. The Good: The location is stellar, nestled near iconic landmarks making explorations a breeze. The amenities are top-notch, encapsulating luxury in every sense. The service is impeccable with a team of professionals who are attentive, ensuring a seamless experience. The on-site onsen is a tranquil haven, beautifully designed, providing a rejuvenating retreat that soothes the soul. The Bad: Our stay, albeit luxurious, faced a hiccup as we couldn’t reserve a suite, making the stay a bit less comfortable than anticipated. Just OK: The breakfast spread, though decent, had limited choices and could get crowded, which was a slight letdown. Tips and Recommendations: - Don’t miss the onsen experience; it’s a soothing escape into tranquility. - Venture out to the nearby castle, its historic charm is captivating. - The hotel garden, though small, is a picturesque spot especially during the red leaves and sakura seasons. A stroll here is not just refreshing but also offers ample beautiful photo opportunities. Despite a few inconvenience, Mitsui Kyoto Luxury Collection epitomizes refined hospitality amidst a historic setting. Its proximity to local attractions, coupled with luxury amenities and a serene onsen, makes it a worthy choice for travelers seeking a blend of luxury, relaxation, and local exploration. The garden and nearby castle add a touch of nature and history, enriching the stay experience. Highly recommended!

The room is very spacious, and the beautiful bamboo forest scenery outside is all shown through the living room and bedroom windows. The quality of the complimentary toiletries is very good. I booked the hotel's teppanyaki in the evening, the beef set meal is super tender, and the Japanese service is attentive... Forgot, Previously, we also offered free afternoon tea in the executive lounge, but as a result, I was too exhausted to finish dinner... In short, Sukiya Annex was the best place to experience during my trip to Kyoto and Osaka. I will continue to come back next time.

The hotel service is very good, the hot spring in the room is also very powerful, but the price is not cheap, the service facilities in the room are very good, the only thing is that the shading of the Japanese-style room is not very good, wake up early in the morning, and the breakfast in the room can be delivered to the room. suits my taste

We stayed here for two nights from October 5-7 and have no complaints about the service and care we received. This is renovated primary school, but you wouldn't know it from how it has been remodeled. Though we did like the wide stairways with wooden bannisters that retained a little of the ”school” feel. The overall atmosphere of the hotel and its grounds is very calming; a nice oasis from the bustle of the city. The room was a good size with very good amenities that made the stay convenient and comfortable. The in-room bar was complimentary and restocked daily. We also had access to the lounge which had free flowing snacks and beverages throughout the day. It was nice to sit next to the window with a warm beverage or a glass of wine after a long day of trekking across the city. We ate in the city, but also made a point to try all of the places to eat in the hotel. We had breakfast on the outside terrace of the main restaurant. The ”well-being” breakfast was healthy and hearty; very filling. We liked that the breakfast was ”by order” rather than buffet. Buffets can be tiring when you just want to sit comfortably on a terrace, enjoying the morning with a cup of coffee. We had one dinner at Benoit, the French restaurant. We tried three mains as part of two set meals we ordered: Sea Bass, Lobster, and Pork Loin. All were done very well. For a late supper, we had a steak on the Rooftop Lounge. The chef himself, strongly suggested I order a different wine with the steak as he felt it complimented it better. It was actually a cheaper wine than I had ordered, so I appreciated that it was a true recommendation. We followed dinner with cocktails in the bar, where the bartender apparently is rather well-known in Kyoto. He certainly had admirers watching him as he made the drinks. The hotel general staff and concierge were all very helpful, helping us reserve cars and check to make sure that our destinations were convenient for our purposes. They also follow-up with us to see if what they had suggested worked out. The only suggestion is to make sure that you leave plenty of time for arriving and leaving. The hotel is right in the middle of a major tourist area. There are many temples in the area, and the streets are lined with tea houses, places to eat or buy souvenirs, and places just to discover or wander about. So depending on the time of day, the traffic can be very congested. That said, from the hotel it's only a 20-minute walk to Nishiki market and the areas around it. Overall, an excellent stay. We would definitely consider the hotel again for any future trip we might have to Kyoto.

Stayed 2 nights late March. Our cab driver has no problems finding the hotel from Kyoto station. The location was amazing. In the midst of the crowd at Kiyomizu, our driver turned into a driveway into a beautiful and serene hotel. It set the tone for the rest of our stay. Check in was smooth. The staff all spoke enough English for things to get sorted out. Even before our arrival, the hotel reached out to make sure everything was ready for our visit. The room and bathroom was clean and spacious. There was an in room safe and free beverages within the fridge. The guest lounge was a rare find amongst all the hotels visited. With a wide selection of finger food, snacks, hors d’oeuvre, wine and bubbly with an even better view of the Hokan-ji pagoda. You could even experience making your own matcha though a condensed version. Breakfast was at the former elementary school library and the staff were ever so attentive. There was a large enough main course selection that we would have loved to stay another 2 days. Overall, the hotel was beautifully appointed. The conversion from the former elementary school helped give it even more characters. The staff from the bell lady, concierge, front desk and breakfast were eager to assist making sure you had an enjoyable stay. The location was great to be so close to Kiyomizu temple and Gion.

The hotel is located between the Izumiya Museum and the neighboring museum, close to the Michelin three-star restaurant, Hyotei, and philosophy. It is the most private and abundant indoor location in Kyoto. The hotel has only four rooms. The courtyard is professionally designed, and it is full of Zen no matter from all angles. It is one of the Japanese hotels in Kyoto that I am most satisfied with for the time being. The rooms are modernly decorated and suitable for living. Breakfast is a set meal of the Michelin restaurant Izumi , Recommended for those who like modern and simple Japanese-style hotels

This ryokan is still very good. First of all, the view is very good, and then the room is very big, and the tatami is very tasteful The Japanese breakfast on the second day is very delicate, with the beautiful scenery outside the window The store service is very good! Very good, the price is also very high!

As soon as you enter this hotel, you feel very comfortable. This hotel is 15 minutes away from the Nishiki Market. This hotel provides a kimono rental service. The waiter will get your height and color preference in advance, and will deliver the kimono to your room according to your request and time. , and then help you bury it, the whole process takes about 45 minutes, and the finished kimono just needs to be placed in the room and someone will come to marry you.

The room is very Japanese style and unique. It is very convenient to the city center. The price is a bit expensive but it is nothing compared to the price of domestic hotels.
