"At first glance, this is a hotel which doesn't welcome travellers coming by car but you then find you can park free of charge in the immediate area. Friendly reception and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast served on the top floor but no restaurant as such. It is a 15 minute walk to the centre of town and a 30 minute stroll to the ferry for Reggio Calabria. Not too much in the vicinity of the hotel as such."
"We travel around 100 days a year, and found this place to be superb! Whilst not large, the rooftop bar/restaurant has to be seen to be believed. The property is on the end of the downtown area in Messina Sicily and is well worth a go. The attention to detail, and the unique seeming make this must go."
"Stunning roof top terrace with views to Calabria. Superb hospitality from Davide who speaks excellent English. His courteous disposition and attention to detail with any request is outstanding!. An ideal stop enroute or from Calabria. "

"A wonderfully villa, located outside the city, you will need a car if you want to enjoy the vacation, to explore the city or the island. Lovely renovated villa with very large and nice rooms, with a brilliant breakfast room, an amazing pool, an beautiful view, with a very nice garden with palm trees, orange trees and olive trees. You can also enjoy launch or dinner only if you notice them in the morning. Also they have a nice parking place for cars, with the necessary shadow for summer time. The staff is very polite and usefully and I want to thanks all of them for making our stay very nice. All the villa is very clean always and the cleaning staff is doing an amazing job including our room. The only minus was an aggressive old lady, I believe to be the manager or one of the owners. If it’s the manager they should fire her immediately because of her behavior to customers. If she’s an owner than she should immediately let the staff to manage the business. We had a great stay for 5 nights to this amazing villa. "
"Villa Pulejo is one of the few magic places I ever visited during my trips (pleasure and business ones). It has everything you want to have and, when you go for the fist time, it exceeds your expectations. If you like a garden where to read a book, or a swimming pool where to relax and get plenty of Sicilian sun, or an underground disco bar where to drink a sophisticated cocktail: you selected the right place. If you prefer to be pampered by a sauna, Jacuzzi and professional massages; or if you want to have a genuine Sicilian food taste: you selected the right place. If you just want to feel the atmosphere radiated by a nineteenth-century Villa, masterfully renovated and with a unique view: you selected the right place. The icing on the cake is the professional and focused staff: from the reception to the restaurant: everyone seems to have your satisfaction as his/her main target. Few days at Villa Pulejo make you thinking on the next opportunity to return and enjoy it. Highly recommended!"
"Beautiful facility with outstanding service. Everyone went out of their way to take care of us, from meeting us at the front door, setting up chaise and towels at pool, and getting us extra pillows. Turns out we were the only guests at the hotel and we were treated like royalty. When we found out the chef was not available for dinner, they ordered for us from a restaurant and served us in the dining room. We met the owner who deserves credit for building a first class facility and hiring a first class staff. They are set up to do weddings there and can imagine how wonderful experience that would be. Nice assortment for breakfast as well. "

"We are currently staying at the Hotel Medinblu and cannot say enough good things about the property and its staff. Room: Meticulously clean and I am extremely picky! You can walk barefoot and not end up with dirty feet but you don’t have to go barefoot because they provide private slippers. Plenty of clothes storage, a lit safe, coffee/tea self-service, a decent stacked fridge. Ambient and also clear lighting to select from. Responsive and quiet temperature control. Modern furnishings and a firm bed with two pillows each for an easy night’s sleep or afternoon nap. The remote controlled automatic window shutters permit you to sleep at anytime of day and the street is quiet. Bathroom: Just the right toiletries, room to place all of the extra things you bring around the sink, above or under it, good lighting, comfy shower without mold, mildew or stains, soft Towels that do not smell of bleach, Clean. Clean, Clean! Breakfast: beautiful view overlooking the water, helpful and kind staff even if you come to breakfast in the last 10 minutes, a million choices of all good healthy things to eat for breakfast. Even fresh made to order scrambled eggs and other items are available. One of the best things, for me, is the hotel hallway and rooms do not smell of any fake cover-up spray nor of the sewer in the bathroom. This is majorly important to me with allergies and an amazing olfactory. Location: a short pleasurable walk to the sea front and a endless boardwalk with a generally refreshing breeze. It feels very safe even in the evening. The city is spotless! We arrived here after a few days in Naples and it is night and day, while Naples is a fun, historic location, and should not be missed, the cleanliness here in Reggio Calabria around the hotel is amazingly different. Walking distance to many things including an interesting museum where I learned about the history of the area. Taxi: the transfer service the hotel helps obtain for a fee lower than we could find a taxi ourselves was kind, with a clean vehicle and safe driver. I’m sure I’m missing something but don’t hesitate, reserve your room NOW! "
"This hotel is by far one of the nicest places I've stayed. We loved Calabria and would go back just to stay at this hotel. The breakfast buffet is the best I've seen anywhere in the world, but the staff is unsurpassed for kindness and personal attendance. They go above and beyond a top rated hotel. They are more like friends than employees, especially our buffet attendant. During our experiences in Sicily, Calabria and Rome, this hotel stands out as an exceptional experience. Don't stay here if you are expecting an international chain hotel because this is a personal experience. Dinner on the rooftop under a starry sky will be a fond memory forever, and the rooms have a surprising amount of well planned space for comfort.. Loved everything about it. The location is ideal right off the main street shopping and promenade.Thank you for the best hotel experience."
"Hotel Medinblu is located 1 block from the main pedestrian street where the shops, restaurants and bars are. Hotel offers parking spot at a near by garage. Regine at the front desk is adorable and very helpful! She assisted us making dinner reservations for NYE at a quaint and family run restaurant. The rooms are bright, clean and offer good amenities. Spend a bit more and book a corner JS. Worth it!"

Via Vittorio Veneto, 66, Reggio Calabria, Calabria, Italy
"I was in Reggio for work and booked into the Excelsior without much thought. I simply wanted somewhere central. The room was delightful and spotless, the staff attentive and charming going out of their way to accommodate my requests, and breakfast excellent. The view from the breakfast room was quite exquisite, looking over the straits to Etna. I had a huge amount of work to do while in Reggio, and was disappointed not to have time to pop across to the museum opposite (where on a previous trip I had seen the two finest Greek bronzes in the world). But my room was perfect for working: quiet, excellent internet connection, well-lit. I really loved this place. I cannot understand the reviewer who described the hotel as characterised by 'faded grandeur'; it strikes me as delightful and elegant."
"I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Reggio Calabria, and had a completely awesome stay. This was a family vacation to see where my grandfather grew up early in the 1900's. We loved Reggio, and explored many of its historical sites, restaurants and surrounding villas. The food in Southern Italy is the best in the country, and the people are very friendly. The hotel staff all did a great job making recommendations and suggestions, and provided much needed directions at times, for we spoke very little Italian. Irene was completely amazing and really made my trip there worth while. She is friendly, funny and has those amazing Italian eyes. Overall, great stay at this facility, and I look forward to my next stay when I return to the region. Ciao!"
"This is certainly a grand hotel, but not in a modern sense. It's like stepping back in time : spacious, comfortable lounges, padded walls, ornate stylings, etc. If this is your thing, you'll be delighted staying here. The service is particularly good with every member of staff going out of their way to ensure you are never left wanting."

Via Marsala 18/20, Reggio Calabria, Calabria, Italy
"I arrived in Reggio by train and it was only a 4 minute walk to the hotel (up a slight hill to get there, but down hill in the morning of course!). The receptionist spoke reasonable English and I was checked in quickly. I went up to my room which was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a nice double bed. It had got quite cold in the South of Italy by the time I stayed, so I had to put the room heating on but it was left on whilst I went to the restaurant for dinner and the room was lovely and warm when I got back. As I said above, I had dinner (both nights I stayed) in the hotel's restaurant - perfect service, good food and a superb glass of wine accompanying it. My one comment was that the food was quite salty - for example the lentil & potato soup seemed to have a lot of extra salt. Generally though it was OK. Breakfast was acceptable, but as others have said it needs a bit more choice. I had a superb night's sleep both nights."
"We are a family with two children, one of them 7 months old. We arrived at night. My first impression was that the area was a bit dodgy. But all is well. As it was late and there were not many options for dinner around at that hour we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The food was great and value for money. Very friendly personnel, especially the lady at breakfast! The room was spacious and clean. You can park on the street in front of the hotel for free. It is safe. We were provided with a baby crib. Overall we were happy with the hotel. I would recommend it!"
"Located just out of the central promenade with on street parking available. A good 20 minute walk to the Main museum. Room has good air conditioning. Free wifi worked very well. You need to ask for a pass for each different smartphone or Tablet. A 2 minute walk to the main promenade which comes alive after siesta (5.00pm). The Harbourside walk runs parallel to the main promenade and well worth the walk. Breakfast available from 7.30 am and is ample to get you going for the day. Easily accessible to the main roads without being on them. "
