"We absolutely loved this place. The first sight of the house through the trees as you enter is pretty special. The house is simply gorgeous with its terracotta brickwork and flowers everywhere, The location was divine - just perfect. It felt like we were in the middle of the countryside but were less than 2 kms from the city centre and the house is situated within the old city walls. It was very peaceful & quiet throughout our stay. The only sounds we heard were the cicadas. We also loved the access to free bikes - although we had a car we ended up using the bikes every day. I recommend cycling along the old city walls. The first access point is less than five mins from the hotel. We also loved our room. It was huge and beautifully decorated in a slick modern style but was also very comfortable. We booked a Deluxe Suite so had a separate living room and bedroom - the bedroom and bathroom were upstairs on the mezzanine level. Everything was well maintained and spotlessly clean. Elda, the manager, was very welcoming a great host. She is fiercely proud of the hotel and of Ferrara and made sure we were happy with our stay. As we were checking out i let her know that we'd had two beers from the mini bar and she told us they were on the house. A classy touch. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was breakfast. I would've liked some fresh bread & a selection of real cheese, not the processed stuff in packets. But this is a small thing and I realise that breakfast is not such a big deal in Italy. The lady serving the breakfast was very sweet and friendly."
"We have just spent 3 nights in the King suite . On arrival the hotel does not fail to impress , the villa is beautiful set in huge gardens with lots of seating areas. The location is fantastic being within the city walls and about a 20 minute walk into the centre. Checkin was quick and efficient . Parking was private and secure and free. The reception area is very smart but on entering the accommodation area of the hotel we were immediately struck by how tired the decor looked, it is white everywhere including the floors which unfortunately is not very practical for guests dragging cases and looked quite scruffy. Our room was a large suite with the bedroom on the mezzanine level it looked amazing at first but the bathroom is in the sitting room with the shower all clear glass so that you are actually on show as in a gold fish bowl even sitting on the toilet !!! A small screen is provided to give some privacy but doesn’t cover the whole glass area. I cannot imagine who designed this its awful. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the front of the hotel and the furniture was comfortable and modern . We arrived just as the weather turned very hot but unfortunately the air conditioning wasn’t working and the upstairs bedroom became very hot and there are no proper windows to open only a sky light with not nets, however after the first night we asked for a fan and they kindly provided one. Breakfast was pretty average not that much choice apart from cakes and little fresh fruit . This hotel could be fantastic and I would say is value for money but it needs a fresh coat of paint and better breakfast ."
"Easy hotel to get to by car. Small and muddy parking lot, just enough space for the hotel guests, but risks of getting blocked in when full. You have to handle four different keys to the various doors. Standard Italian breakfast, a bit put off by the ants crawling over all the pastries. Nice touch with making the coffee (although from a capsule) for us in the morning, and freshly squeezed juice in the morning. The local tax was not able to be dealt with other than with cash, separate from the other bill. Very spacious and nice hotelrooms, but you hear too much of the neighbours when in the top part of the room, not easy to sleep when you have neighbours watching TV half the night. Best part is being so close to the walls for walks/run and the 15 - 20 minute walk to the center of town is through a nice park and by the lovely palazzo dei diamanti. I might consider it again, but not completely convinced. Best suited for old couples I think."
