We are so glad we chose to stay here - everything was wonderful and we felt well taken care of. The hotel is beautiful and centrally located - we were able to walk to many attractions and the neighborhood was fun to explore. The staff's attention to detail and pride in the hotel was evident - from reception, to the restaurant to housekeeping - everyone was friendly and professional. We felt taken care of and welcomed by everyone we encountered. Just after booking, we read some negative reviews about the Bica rooms that made us nervous enough to wonder if we should upgrade. After seeing our room in person (Bica 7), we felt much better, and by the end of our stay, we knew we would be happy to stay in that room again. The Bica rooms are not 'in the basement' as some other reviews have stated. While they are on floors below main reception, keep in mind that the hotel is on a steep hill and these rooms look out over the downward slope. Our floor to ceiling windows were still above street level, and we were afforded a beautiful view of the pedestrianized old town streets below. Yes, there are some buildings across the streets with windows that face the hotel, but we never felt a lack of privacy - for one, the room had sun shade blinds on all windows that diffused the bright Portuguese sunlight, but they also provided privacy from anyone who might happen to look into our room from the windows across the street (they didn't). It is something anyone who has lived in a city would be familiar and comfortable with. We heard street noise only when the garbage was being collected, and the windows provided enough soundproofing to ensure that noise was very light and brief. Our room was very spacious, and even with the sun shades down, there was plenty of natural light and it felt airy and gracious. The AC kept the room comfortable, and we were happy to spend the hottest hours of each day relaxing in the room. The bed was huge (and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in). The bathroom is small, but beautifully designed. The shower water pressure was glorious and we appreciated the Aesop toiletries. The hotel was currently doing renovations on our floor, but you would never know it. There were a few discreet renovation notices on doors and we saw some workmen during the day, but the sound was well insulated behind multiple doors and we were never disturbed. The privacy was actually remarkable - even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, it was never noisy and we never felt crowded. We saw other guests occasionally, but it never felt like we were competing for space in the common areas or for the staff's attention. We enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the rooftop bar every day (I do not drink and appreciated the no-alcohol cocktail options), and our visit to Suba on the last night was nothing short of exceptional. We stayed as a family for 4 nights and unfortunately the hotel didn’t live up to expectations for a couple of specific reasons. First of all, we should point out that the hotel is pleasant enough and is indeed set in beautiful grounds. The breakfast was also of good quality. Our issue was that we came away feeling that children were not really welcome at this hotel. On each of the days that we sat by the pool, we saw ours and other children being told off by the same staff time and time again for having the temerity of raising their voices slightly, or throwing a ball around in an empty pool. When asked why, the staff seemed to blame the adult guests for complaining! The other issue is location. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere - no bars, no restaurants, nothing to see, nothing to do. The centre is a decent distance away. Overall, we would recommend staying elsewhere if you have children under 16 - this is not a family hotel and doesn’t even pretend to be once you are there. In addition, if your intention is to actually see parts of central Lisbon it may be worth looking for something more central to ensure large parts of your holiday are not spent in the back of a taxi.

Fabulous! One word that can describe our stay at the Ivens. It scored full marks on hospitality , hotlel decor & room quality . We reached early morning around 9 am after a long 9 hours flight . Being a Bonvoy Ambassador member they had already upgraded us to the suite , but the suite would be ready only by 3pm the official check in time . The check in staff was so helpful they promptly gave us another room till our suite was ready . This is indeed was a boon as we could rest after such a long journey and adjust to the time zone. The 3 night stay was just wonderful , no request was small and the team ensured that we had a memorable holiday. The hotel has the beautiful Rocco restaurant as part of its establishment and breakfast was served in this beautiful setting. The rooms are modern and well equipped. I wanted an adapter plug that was promptly provided. The amenities were just world class. The location is perfect away from the noise and just a few minutes walk to the city centreThis is easily one of the best hotels I have stayed in Europe . You will not find a better place in Lisbon for sure.

The location is excellent, the reception, hygiene and services are all very good, except that the room is slightly small. It's very convenient to go out and walk around. There is French Veal downstairs, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. The dessert shop in the hotel is also delicious, not too sweet, and is worth a try. Breakfast is a la carte and very rich. Staying for two days can save a lot of money.

Breakfast is plentiful, the transportation is convenient, there is a civil aviation bus not far from the door, and the subway is close at hand. The railway station is not far away. On Liberty Avenue, all the sights of the old city can be reached on foot. Go to the seaside attractions by bus.

The location is average. Although it seems to be in the center, it is actually not close to any attractions and is on the mountain. The white male waiter at the front desk is warm and friendly. You can get a complimentary wine tasting from 5 to 7 o'clock when you check in, but these points are spent at other attractions and you can't catch up with the tasting. Overall relatively safe.

We enjoyed the hotel ambiance and the modern decor. We wished the the hotel were more spacious, had a larger pool and gym and a better layout (sometimes if feels like a maze). Nevertheless, our stay was enjoyable and service at bar and restaurant was fine. At the arrival, we were expecting somebody at the entrance to help us with our luggage. Since nobody was there, we had to carry our suitcases over a ramp of steep stairs. We also requested 2 coffee cups in the room (staff removed one of the cups and never replaced it) and some extra hangers, but nobody brought anything during the entire stay (3 nights)....so, we shared the only cup and kept our cloths in the suitcase. Not a big deal, but paying attention to these details would certainly help.

I like it very much. Although the hotel is not in a lively area of the city, it is surrounded by office workers, but the nearby subway and public transportation are very convenient. The hotel’s breakfast is rich and the restaurant is very stylish, especially the hotel has a top terrace, which can basically enjoy Lisbon Bird's eye view

The hotel itself is a palace, the environment is very good, but there is a distance from the city center, compared to the secluded. Relative to the environment, the room looks normal. The hotel waiter has a general service attitude and can experience it in the environment.
